Summary
Marcus has a brief moment to savor the lack of pain, of limbs that did not ache, before he was opening his eyes in the Arena, on his feet, rather than dangling from his wrists. An undestroyed Arena, he recognizes, with Peacekeepers milling about and Capitol students trying to work out strategies with their respective tributes. His gaze falls onto Sejanus Plinth, who has turned his big brown eyes upon him.
“Marcus,” says Plinth, like the echo of a dream.
And the world explodes for a second time.
