"I threw them out." His mother replied, in a clipped tone. "With all those silly little fictional books of yours. You need to focus on your studies."
Her voice was rising in volume, in a way that made him want to cower in fear, worse than any creature from the Upside Down.
Dustin felt sick to his stomach, but also felt the desperate need to apologize for whatever he had done, but instead, he merely nodded and went back upstairs.Once he had closed and locked the door behind him, he settled at the desk and turned on Cerebro.

Steve came to for only a moment, with dusk light filtering through a window next to his head.
He was laying in an unfamiliar bed, with a blanket tucked around his body.
From what he could feel, at some point his clothes had been changed, but he couldn’t really tell much else past a fuzzy feeling in his brain that usually accompanied high-grade painkillers.
The door creaked open, soft footsteps padding through.
The side of the bed dipped and a cool hand pressed against Steve’s forehead.
Steve leaned up into the touch with a soft hum.“I know, pretty boy,” A smooth, familiar voice murmured, as the hand moved from his forehead.
Instead, Steve could feel a pill being pressed against his lips, which Steve dutifully swallowed, gratefully taking a sip from the bottle of water he was offered a moment later.
The hand returned to his face, this time stroking against his cheek in a comforting manner.“Sleep, pretty boy,” The voice said softly, and Steve did.

"Steve?" Nancy asked. "What the hell is going on?"
Steve looked up and smiled. "Morning, Nance! Robin, Jonathan." He sighed softly, turning to cast a forlorn look towards the table. "You guys should've told me you were coming over, I would've set extra places." He lifted the bowl of pancake batter that sat next to him on the counter and seemed to evaluate it for a moment, before sitting it back down, then saying, "I should have enough for everybody. Dustin, could you please set a few more places at the table?"
Dustin looked absolutely affronted. "Why can't Max do it?!"
"Max is busy right now, working on her character sheet." Steve replied easily.

For the most part, everyone just dispersed off into their little groups.
Jonathan and Argyle joined the other, older kids in the living room.
Robin was talking about… Bees? Will was pretty sure it was bees, and Nancy was listening with rapt attention.
Steve was tucked up between Eddie’s legs, leaning against Eddie’s chest, while Eddie had his arms wrapped around Steve’s waist. Their matching rings glinted in the lighting.Mike wasn’t there yet and Will can’t really tell if he was disappointed or grateful.
