Summary
“She is the Queen?” the other zanpakutō asks with a sneer as he looks her over in the space between worlds.
She does not know why he calls her that. Rukia is no kind of ruler; she does not hold even a seated position in her division. But Sode no Shirayuki raises her chin and stares him down. Rukia is weaker than she should be, only just recovered from her ordeal in the Senzaikyuu and from being stripped of her powers for months. But she will be damned if she will let this feral creature insult her wielder. “She is stronger in her own way than your master,” she says sharply.
The man smirks at her. “Master? Hah. The King is weak, and I’m going to take his crown when he falls.”

In which Zangetsu and Sode no Shirayuki meet, part, and meet again before the events of Of Queens, Horses, and Red Strings.
