    Okay so I *really didn't mean* to make a sad sex pollen fic but this one just really really wanted to go in a bittersweet direction, and I couldn't in good faith steer it someplace else without getting stuck in that horrible paralyzing condition writers sometimes write themselves into when they're trying to force a story in a direction it isn't meant to go in! And even if I had pushed past this and just made them decide that their love was worth upending Tony's marriage over and pursuing at this particular stage in their lives (which would require a massive amount of trust from Tony).... then what? I send them off into battle like *that*?? or I write another long-ass fix-it nopenopenope

    Look at it this way -- either:

    a) the story weaves right back into canon (no fix-it) but at least they had this experience together before the end?
    b) they're just slow! though this is where they're at emotionally in the immediate aftermath of the false-alarm sex pollen incident, their shared love is *simply gestating* and it's gonna make their trip to 1970 fraught with ALL KINDS of inner turmoil that plays out in ways neither of them are expecting..... (I am not writing a series nonononono there will be no part two get out of my brain please)
    c) the consummation of their love has caused a kind of nexus event, potentially altering the course of the canonical timeline (who knows what'll come of it???)
