Lmao true, he’s not exactly the brightest, we can all agree on that. I think I kinda failed to show just how confused he actually is until Alicent (who he was literally thinking about marrying earlier in the chapter) points out that her banner is green when they call for war. And the prophecy says “for House Targ… banner of black… and banners for greens,” which makes the distinction pretty clear since the Targs are black.
Honestly, Vizzy’s just lucky because he also had that dream the Crone helped him interpret, so he’s not relying on prophecy alone. He’s both a dreamer and someone being told prophecies. I feel like in-world, dreamers tend to have better odds than people who only hear prophecies, like Daenys and Dany. And it helps that Alicent is spineless when she was young, she immediately admitted everything which just helped
