Summary
As Ilya tries to look around for any more clues he idly thinks that this must be by far the nicest way he'd ever been kidnapped. He'd never gotten a blanket before. The give on the rope is just enough to sit up, too, and the way the mattress sinks under his movements speaks to a high quality. Who brings out memory foam for their kidnap victim bed?
Yeah, Ilya decides, this isn't bad at all. He can make out the faint smell of breakfast from the other side of the door, too. Shit, he might even get fed in the time it takes his kidnapper to figure out that keeping him is going to prove completely useless. With how carefully tied the rope around his ankles is, Ilya might even get away without a single broken bone this time around.
Or; Ilya is pretty used to being kidnapped for ransom money. It comes with the territory of having a rich father that is hated in all the wrong circles. Ilya realizes pretty quickly that this time is very different, though.

Summary
Shane speaks slowly. “Being with you … is emotional for me.”
Ilya takes in breath. Shane’s life is better now, and sleeping with Ilya again probably makes him think of the sad times before he met Rose. Okay, Ilya can roll with that. He can give Shane a good enough time that he forgets the negative memories he associates with Ilya. He voices this: “I will take care of you.”
Silence. But Shane still hasn’t run away, which isn’t nothing.
Instead of publically breaking up, Shane and Rose continue a fake relationship. (Temporary) Heartbreak for Ilya and Shane ensues.

Summary
He deserved someone who didn’t treat him with the love and care Shane did. He was too much like his mama, and maybe he deserved someone more like his father. Shane shouldn’t worship the body of a man who could barely name a quarter of the people who he hooked up with.
And so, “I can’t do this anymore, Shane. You are too perfect and sweet and amazing. You do not need me corrupting you.”
Shane stared up at him with his eyes shiny like glass and pupils blown wide in confusion, “What, Ilya. You’re not fucking corrupting me. And i’m not perfect.”
Or: Ilya breaks up with Shane because he knows he doesn’t deserve him. A week later he falls into the arms of a new guy but it turns much, much worse than Ilya could have imagined. But he deserves this. Right?

“I thought Ilya was, like, the man here,” Hayden motioned. Something suspiciously sounding like Jackie’s voice in the back of his brain told him that wasn’t the right wording, but he was too tired and already too buzzed to care. Besides, this was Shane, he didn’t need to say the perfect thing. Shane knew what he meant.
Scott shifted. “They are both men, Hayden” he said very formally. Hayden felt like his dad was lecturing him.
Hayden sighed. “No, Shane, you know what I mean.”
Shane’s brow furrowed in concentration. “Like, because I bottom?” He said, slightly embarrassed.
Scott’s steady gaze on Hayden turned very sharp.
“No!” Hayden started. “Well, maybe? I don’t know how that works. I just mean, like, you’re real gay and Ilya likes women, right?”
OR 5 times Hayden realizes other people know his best friend better than him, and the 1 time Shane tells him himself.
