Summary
Jiang Cheng stops dead in his tracks, his tail and ears twitching with a hunting instinct that should have long vanished, but he relaxes when he lets out a deep breath.
They are no longer animals—can’t even change their forms anymore—Jiang Cheng reminds himself, and the immediate urge to chase after the helpless fluffy animals vanishes.
It’s a relief, if Jiang Cheng is being honest, because he would much rather cuddle them than eat them.
Especially when he gets attached to a floppy eared rabbit with a peculiar silver spot on its forehead.

Summary
The lanterns hanging in the entryway to Lotus Pier sway minutely in the wind. They are old and heavy, bamboo wood panels framing delicately painted silk. There is a story in the art, Jiang Cheng is aware, but he has not looked at it closely since he was young enough to have someone to ask about it.
In the warm light of the setting sun, the art is faded and impossible to make out. And there is no one left for him to ask about what it is he can neither see nor understand.
The tassels brush through Jiang Cheng’s hair as he leaves.
Winter ends with Jiang Cheng tripping over the largest, most peculiar bunny he has ever seen in his life.

Summary
“Uhm, Master Lan…” he starts to say but is halted by fingers on his lips.
Jiang Cheng blinks, incredulous at the liberties that the drunk Lan is taking.
“Shh…Shufu says one must be patient. You wouldn’t want to go against Shufu, would you?”
Lan Xichen’s eyes are wide and full of worry as he looks at Jiang Cheng, as if Jiang Cheng defying anything Shufu says will be the worst thing to happen. As if any of the Lan rules apply to Jiang Cheng at Yunmeng Jiang.
(Or the one where Lan Xichen flirts shamelessly, Jiang Cheng just wants to be left alone, Wei Wuxian is an all-knowing gremlin, and everyone gossips.) -

Summary
His wing was broken. Feathers of a beautiful color of shimmering opal seemed to stick out in different directions, as if they were completely out of place, as if they had decided to create their own incongruous image. Some of them were still covered with blood, which must have soaked into them deeply. Not even water could wash away the dark, almost black stains that poked through the fine fluff. He lay half submerged in the waters of a pond full of lotuses, and the water moved his long hair slightly, playing with it as if it were the stems of the mighty plants that surrounded him.
Lan Xichen unexpectedly found the angel in a pond full of lotuses at his seclusion place.
