Fic In A Box 2023
Participants in Fic In A Box can sign up to exchange a wide variety of fanworks — and they can do so at volume, and in various sizes! At base, everyone is requesting 10k of fanfiction (which they might recieve as one 10k fic or as ten 1k fics) but participants can opt in to receiving other mediums. "Which mediums?" I hear you asking. Well...any digital medium, as long as we can agree on a clear and easily checked equivalent to 1k of written fic! If you want to get wild, you can even opt into receiving fic in amounts smaller than 1k. Art, vids, podfic, dress-up games, cocktail recipes, emoji, fanmixes, murdles...truly our participants are thinking (and creating!) out of the box.

The order came through on an otherwise dull Sunday afternoon in 2004. Crowley had just returned from a spot of low-level tempting in the south of London and was just contemplating an appropriate excuse to stop by at Aziraphale’s bookshop when the message arrived. It was pushed under the door by a courier so steeped in terror that Crowley could sense it from the other side of the flat. With some considerable annoyance, Crowley fetched the envelope and eased the note out, reading it quickly with a frown deepening on his face.

The Gn’ael’ya convoy had chased the Khanre Steadfast for 47 galactic cycles when they finally responded to the desperate hails their quarry had been sending on a four-hour repeat. A wall of silence since their initial “prepare to be destroyed”, but they were ready to negotiate, the message said. A party was welcome to come to the flagship and discuss “terms that would be pleasant to both parties”.
It didn’t take long for the relieved discussions of how their pursuers were finally ready to talk circulated the Steadfast’s halls, and that relief was as-swiftly followed by hushed explanations of how exactly the Gn’ael’ya negotiated. And then there was an expectant, waiting silence, crew members glancing at each other and wondering.
Or: in which an ability to eat hot peppers and toss back shots comes in really handy.
