That must be so confusing for a little girl

Summary:

Chapter Text

Annabeth dreaded Halloween, she had hated it ever since she ran from Gotham and all she saw that first year at camp were so many people dressed just like her brothers and papa. It made her feel so small and helpless.

That was how the first person discovered who she was, her older sister Caoimhe had seen her crying in her bunk later that day. Her tears had ran hot down her face and she hadn't bothered to look up as she heard the gentle footsteps of her older sister approach her bedside. The softness in her voice was comforting to Annabeth, it had reminded her of Alfred something she had sorely needed that day. "Annabeth, are you ok? We're missing you outside. You were really excited yesterday, did something scare you?"

Her hiccups had made it hard to speak but the curly haired girl was patient "I- I miss my papa and my brothers and- and I miss Babs and the little cat that was always near the ice cream shop Dick took me to.."

"Oh Annabeth.." her sister had soothed. "Come on, let's go to get some hot chocolate and we can sit down and have a slice of bairín breac. Hopefully you don't get the ring I'm not quite ready for a wedding yet." She had teased.

And with that Caoimhe had leaned down and wiped her tears as she grabbed her small hand and led her out into the festivities of the evening.
