Bows & Bullets
Mischief Mondays Series
Stiles was jittery. First day of school jitters. How stupid. He hadn’t felt those since probably the very first day of school, ever. Middle school? First day of high school? Eh, whatever. He just walked in there and decided to make the best of it.
But today was different. The first day of junior year was special. Sophomore year had been a huge mess – werewolves, hunters, presenting as an omega, kanima, more hunters, kidnapped and tortured. He had joined a werewolf pack, started dating two werewolf hunters. So much had changed in just a couple months and the summer had been kind of an adjustment phase. But things were different during the summer. School meant real life kicked in again, and things were changed.
“Relax,” Erica’s voice was light and her grip tight as she laid an arm around his shoulders.
“Did you forget how to breathe, Stiles?” Isaac asked with a sigh.
Stiles turned left and right to look at the Hale Pack. Boyd stepped up on Erica’s other side, wrapping one arm around his girlfriend. Isaac had joined them on Stiles’ other side and Cora came to stand next to him, glowering up at the school building.
“Why are you nervous?” Cora asked annoyed. “You already go here. This is my first year in Beacon Hills High. I have exclusively spoken Spanish for the past six years so my English is rusty. I’m the curiosity – the sudden, surviving Hale. I have reason to be nervous. What’s your excuse?”
Stiles huffed and shot Cora a look. She really was Derek’s sister, huh. The family resemblance was uncanny. Stiles adjusted his bag and turned back toward the school, taking a deep breath.
“Well, my best friend since elementary school has started dating the girl I had a crush on since kindergarten and both of them switched schools together and are now starting at Devenford Prep, which is a fancy private school that Scott’s FBI agent of a dad is footing the bill for not knowing that the whole point of that is because Scott joined a different werewolf pack after betraying his last Alpha,” Stiles started blurting out, feeling a little lighter already just venting. “We have been through thick and thin for so long now and suddenly, he is not here anymore.”
And instead, there were these other, new people. The Hale Pack. They hadn’t really been friends last school year, sure, Scott and Stiles had joined the pack some two months before the school year had ended, things had been awkward back then and they had also been distracted by the whole kanima mess still going on. The summer had bonded them into real friends and now they would be going back to classes. And then there was also the matter of Allison.
“He—ey. Why are we standing in front of the school, staring at it like it’s the next Big Bad?” Allison walked up to them and looked between their group and the school. “Wait. Is the school the next Big Bad? Is it evil? Is there like a real, actual Hellmouth underneath it?”
Her eyes were large as she zeroed in on Stiles, like she was waiting for him to answer. All he could do was stare at her and marvel at how pretty the alpha was, with the dimples and the big eyes.
“No,” Erica huffed and rolled her eyes. “Stiles is just being weird about the first day.”
Allison’s brows furrowed at that and Stiles’ breath hitched a little. Allison was the main reason he was nervous and confused about the first day. Yes, the Hale Pack and all the changes and also a little bit the fear of what was yet to come – what monsters were lurking around the corner – were worries, but the fact that he was now dating Allison Argent was the biggest worry. She was the cool, new girl, still. Even though her friendship with Jackson and Lydia had made her more popular and both Jackson and Lydia were now gone from the school, she still held that appeal. Would she want to be public about their relationship? Or was this just a thing behind closed door and with the pack? What would she be comfortable with? Would they be friends openly, nothing else? What-
“Hi,” Allison smiled blindingly at him and slipped her hands into his.
Stiles blinked at her curiously, waiting for what she would do next. “...Hi?”
She pulled him in until she could press a gentle kiss to his lips. His heart fluttered and leaped into his throat at that. Okay, okay, okay. That was definitely PDA. Kissing in front of the school, in broad daylight. He blinked dazed at her and she just pressed her lips against his once more, smiling.
“It’s alright,” Allison whispered, her thumbs gently rubbing circles against his pulse. “I know your anxiety doesn’t like change and junior year is gonna be different, but I got you.”
“We all got you,” Erica interjected with emphasis.
“Yeah, Stiles,” Boyd agreed next to her, shooting him a look. “We’re pack. We stick together.”
Allison smiled encouragingly at him and kept massaging his pulse until Stiles actually felt calmer. The smile on her lips turned more pleased and she leaned in one last time to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. Even as she stepped away some, she didn’t fully let go of him, interlacing her fingers with his left hand. Stiles bit his lips. Kissing and holding hands. Okay, Stiles liked that.
“Oh,” Allison quickly reached into her bag with her free hand. “Here!”
She pulled a box out of her bag and it looked like a classic bento box. Blinking curiously, Stiles accepted the box and opened the lip to look inside. The scent was so delicious, he immediately had four wolves crowding in to sniff and take a look.
“You… brought me lunch?” Stiles asked stunned. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Well,” Allison wrinkled her nose a little, still grinning. “I’m just the messenger here. Dad made it.”
“Made it?” Stiles repeated surprised, eyes widening. “Chris made me lunch? Why?”
Allison laughed at that. “Why? Because he loves you. And I think he might be compensating.”
Stiles frowned at the cheese and ham croissant, the baguette with salami, the separate section filled with blue macrons. He picked one of the macrons and sniffed it curiously before taking a bite.
“Compensating for what?” Stiles asked around his mouthful. “Oh, these are good. He needs to tell me where he bought them, I’ve never seen macrons in any bakery in Beacon Hills?”
“Compensating for me getting to have you all day at school and him missing out on that,” Allison grinned impishly. “And no, Stiles. He made you lunch. He made the macrons. He… even baked the baguette. He made you lunch.”
Stiles nearly dropped the box in his surprise, but Boyd’s werewolf reflexes caught the box first. He then proceeded to take a macron out and took a bite, his eyebrows going higher and higher.
“Oh, he needs to give me the recipe,” Boyd gave a pleased grunt. “These are really good. Do you know how hard it is to make macrons? Especially ones looking that perfect.”
“...Would you like to be alone with the macrons?” Isaac asked disturbed.
“Would you like to ask Chris out on a date?” Erica asked, more amused than anything.
“No,” Stiles growled – a deep, low warning growl that startled him more than the others.
“Relax,” Boyd’s eyes were twinkling. “I have no plans of moving in on your alpha. All yours.”
Stiles blushed embarrassed and ducked his head. Instincts. He’d never given the protective omega growl before. Allison started giggling and got her phone out.
“Texting dad that you just territory-growled about him, he’s gonna love that.”
Stiles closed his eyes embarrassed, flushing even harder. Moments later, his phone vibrated in his jeans and, with Boyd holding the bento box, he used his free hand to get his phone out. His other hand was being held by Allison again after she put her own phone back.
Silver Fox: Allison says you like the lunch?
Silver Fox: And that you… growled?
Little Red: yeah. u didn’t have to make lunch for meee!!
Silver Fox: I told you I’ll take care of you, baby boy
Silver Fox: Can’t have you eat cafeteria food, then
Little Red: thank u
Little Red: I love it
Little Red: Boyd wants the recipe btw
Silver Fox: Tell him to come by the house some time this week
Silver Fox: I’m glad you love it
Silver Fox: Have a good day at school, I love you
Stiles bit his lower lip hard, his cheeks burning and his heart racing. It felt like all his worries just dispersed at that. His alphas had been courting him for a month now. They kept showing and telling him how much they wanted him, how much they loved him. It just still felt kind of surreal to him.
“Okay, let’s,” Stiles cut himself off and shot Erica, Isaac and Cora glares. “Why are you people chewing? What are you chewing? Why are there only five macrons left? There were ten!”
“You shouldn’t hand a box of treats to a pack of hungry wolves,” Isaac argued with a shrug.
Stiles huffed offended and glared deeper. “Anyway. Let’s get inside. Class starts soon.”
Erica laughed a little and hooked one arm with him after he put his bento box into his bag. Allison took his hand once more and pressed a kiss to his cheek. With Boyd, Isaac and Cora flanking them, they headed into school and for the first time, Stiles felt really, truly prepared for it.

Allison was laughing with Isaac as they exited class together. It was nice to have friends. Last year had been different, she’d had Lydia, who was a genuine friend, and Scott, who was her boyfriend. Stiles had mostly spent time with her because of Scott, and Jackson because of Lydia. But the summer and the Argents’ treaty with the Hale Pack had changed things. She’d made her amends and had formed real friendships with Isaac, Erica, Boyd and Cora.
“So how’s your first day going?” Allison asked when she sat down next to Cora at the table.
Cora, Boyd and Erica were already sitting at a lunch table together. Boyd and Erica were busy making heart-eyes at each other, which was cute enough. She’d really befriended the couple and she had to admit, she was really giddy to get to be as cutesy with her own omega now. However, those two were completely lost in each other at the moment, but Cora turned her attention onto Allison. It was really nice, being friends with Cora in particular. Allison had never met another female alpha before, they were about as rare as male omegas. Granted, Allison had been apprehensive at first.
“Eh,” Cora wrinkled her nose. “Can I opt out of chemistry…?”
“We all wish we could,” Allison chuckled. “Harris lives to make our lives harder.”
Cora had shown up not long after Allison and Chris had Stiles’ official acceptance of their courting. Derek’s supposedly dead sister, who had survived, run away and lived with distant relatives in Mexico, until rumors or a new Hale Pack had reached her and she decided to come back. It sounded incredibly suspicious and Allison was instantly wary, until Derek and Peter really confirmed she was Cora Hale, that this wasn’t a stolen identity or a shapeshifter.
“Okay, but Harris aside,” Allison prodded and stole some fries off Cora’s plate.
“The English is a struggle,” Cora gave a shrug. “I’m still… It’s weird. It’s been a while since I did this much English. I’m glad I had a month in summer with the pack to get used to it.”
But Allison’s suspicions didn’t lessen, they merely shifted. A female alpha, a Hale at that. Stiles, though he may not be aware of it, had a special way with these Hales. For a long time, Allison had honestly thought there was something between Stiles and Derek. And now there was a pretty female Hale alpha, who seemed to have the same weird attachment to Stiles as Derek and Peter – but her jealousy was unnecessary. Stiles only had eyes for her and Chris.
“Hi,” Stiles smiled as he slipped into the seat next to Allison’s.
His entire attention was on her but he seemed hesitant. Like he had this morning. She grabbed his face with both hands and pulled him in to kiss. She would never tire of kissing Stiles. His mouth was so soft and his tongue wasn’t just sharp with quips. It had been clear when she’d first gotten together with him that he had never kissed anyone before, but both Allison and Chris were more than happy to teach him – and Stiles was a very quick study.
“Hi,” Allison whispered against his lips, her own lips curving in a smile.
His scent sweetened, pleased and relieved. She ran her nose down her omega’s neck, inhaling deep from the source as she nuzzled against his scent-gland. Stiles shivered beneath her touch, his pulse quickening against her lips. Her smile grew and she pressed a kiss to the scent-gland.
“How… How are you holding up, Ally?” Stiles asked, sounding hesitant. “Without Lydia.”
Oh. Mh. Allison blinked as she leaned back enough to actually look at her boyfriend.
“I do miss her,” Allison admitted. “I never really made good friends before I met her. But I can’t really blame her for changing schools? I mean, she went from the school’s Golden Couple to being a pariah. Aside from us, nobody showed up to her birthday, which had been proclaimed as the ‘social event of the year’. The whispering and gossip, and that only got worse after Jackson left for England – like she somehow chased him off the continent.”
“Yeah, things were really bad,” Erica agreed with a wince. “High school is cruel.”
She’d know about that. People had been really nasty about her seizures. Allison reached her leg out under the table to nudge hers, earning a small smile from the blonde.
“I think she really needs this fresh start,” Allison continued. “And she’s not out of the world. She already texted me three times since the school day started, you know.”
“And it’s not weird?” Isaac asked, pointing between Stiles and Allison. “The… boyfriend swap?”
“A little, at first,” Allison shrugged with a grin and interlaced her fingers with Stiles’. “But to Lydia, Stiles was more a… way to make Jackson angry, and to try and get over Jackson. And Scott and I, we’re… we’re over. I’m over him. I want him to be happy too, the both of them.”
Isaac’s eyes settled on Stiles, silently prodding. Stiles squirmed just a little under the attention.
“I got over Lydia, okay,” Stiles muttered, his head ducked. “I think… I think I loved the idea of Lydia more than I ever really loved her?”
“...What does that mean?” Cora asked, a confused frown on her face.
“Lydia was the queen of the school, half the Golden Couple, as Ally put it,” Stiles motioned a little while talking – but never let go of Allison’s hand. “It’s like every rom-com from the 90s, you know? The nerdy nobody falls in love with the popular girl and then she realizes that her dumb jock of a boyfriend doesn’t stand a chance against the cute nerd.”
Stiles’ cheeks were a cute red as he admitted that. Allison couldn’t help her smile at that. It was very Stiles, if she thought about it. He hadn’t been popular, had had only Scott as a friend. The idea of popularity, of that picture-perfect Happily Ever After was a tempting thing to fantasize about and Lydia was the perfect, unobtainable person to project that onto.
“Trying to date her last year kinda… made me realize that,” Stiles continued after a beat. “I still like her, but more like… a friend. I definitely realized that I don’t love her, never really loved her.”
“And Scott?” Isaac asked. “I mean…”
The beta hesitated at that. He’d grown close to Scott too, toward the end of the last school year.
“I don’t know,” Stiles shrugged. “I think… we just kinda grew apart? It happens. Turning into a werewolf changed him, changed his life. His priorities. That was something that’s… been building up since the bite. First it was Allison – like, hanging up on me, ditching me, because dates were more important. Then it was the animosity between him and Derek and his unwillingness to join the Hale Pack. And… that’s fair, I guess. I mean, you gotta want to be pack, right?”
Stiles paused for a moment, looking sad. “And he seems happy in the Ito Pack. Satomi seems to be an Alpha he can respect, which I guess makes sense? He was raised by his mom, so a woman is more of an authority figure he can respect, whereas Derek is… barely older than us and they didn’t exactly have a good start filled with trust. He’s happy in his pack, I’m happy in mine.”
He offered the others a crooked grin and Allison leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek. She knew it was more than that, she knew it hurt him that he’d grown apart from his best friend. But Allison was also optimistic that, with her dad and the pack, they’d help Stiles get over it.

Chris furrowed his brows as he read his daughter’s texts. Apparently, their omega didn’t have the best first day at school. He’d been anxious in the morning and his mind had been on missing Scott throughout the day, according to Allison. Chris had thought he could sweeten Stiles’ day with a good lunch and a sweet treat and that Allison’s presence would help. It had helped some, but Stiles’ anxiety was strong – both Argents had known that for a while now.
“...You went overboard, Christopher. Way, way overboard.”
With a glower did Chris return to the stove and to ignore the judgmental look on Peter’s face. He was aware that he may have overcompensated on the food. Peter snorted amused.
“Let the man live, Peter,” Peter’s mate called out from the living room. “It’s hard for an alpha, to be separated from their omega during courting. Now, he may have made that harder on himself by picking a high school student to court, but that’s his problem.”
Chris heaved a sigh as the reassurance turned sharp. Not to be unexpected, really. Chris still thought he could be lucky that the sheriff hadn’t shot him point-blank when they’d sat down and Chris and Allison had told Noah about their intentions to court his son. There were some sharp barbs, but that was the worst of it and Chris could be grateful for it, he knew that. He knew other fathers would have had a much stronger reaction to a middle-aged man courting their teenage omega child.
“How’s Stiles faring?” Peter asked, still watching Chris. “I’m assuming your fretting isn’t entirely related to the general separation anxiety of fretting alphas, mh?”
The man’s eyes were sharp, cutting right through it. Chris heaved a sigh at it. Ever since his resurrection, Peter was much more put together. Supposedly, he’d been friends with the sheriff’s late mate in high school. He’d been very obsessed with Stiles from the get-go because Stiles had Claudia’s eyes and even in his feral frenzy, Peter’s wolf had recognized those eyes. He’d even offered Stiles the bite, back then, because of it. Now, returned to the land of the living and much more sane, he had grown… very, very close to the sheriff, rekindling an old ‘what if’. Which also came with an additional layer of protectiveness toward Stiles though. No longer just his late best friend’s pup, but rather now his pup. Chris really was in the crosshair.
“Allison says that he was anxious this morning,” Chris replied reluctantly.
“Naturally,” Peter hummed. “And you think that this much food will help?”
“It helped me with my need to drive to the school, pull him out and comfort him,” Chris muttered. “And I know he likes my cooking, so at the very least it’ll make him happy.”
A key turned in the door and the animated chatter of Stiles and Allison flooded in. Chris smiled and put the spoon down, wiping his hands on his apron. Together with Peter, he walked into the living room. Derek and Noah sat in front of a chessboard, spending the time until dinner on a little game. By the looks of it, the sheriff was going to lose, the Alpha was one move from checkmate.
“Surprise Hales. That why Cora got in my Jeep?” Stiles asked amused.
Cora huffed as she shouldered her way past Stiles and plopped down next to her brother on the couch. Chris smiled as he pushed past Peter to get to his boy. The wolf made an amused noise and went to sit next to the sheriff and made a move on the chess board that put the sheriff and the Alpha even, causing Noah to make a triumphant noise and pull his omega into a kiss.
“Gross,” Stiles wrinkled his nose. “No PDA! No Parental Display of Affection!”
Chuckling fondly, Chris wrapped his arms around his boy’s waist, pulling Stiles against himself and effectively distracting him from Noah and Peter. He could feel his omega’s lips curve against his own as they kissed, Stiles’ arms winding around Chris’ neck to pull him closer.
“None of that either!” Noah protested from the couch. “I don’t need to see any of that.”
Chris huffed and reluctantly pulled off Stiles. He dragged his nose along Stiles’ jawline and down his throat, peppering the soft skin with kisses. Stiles sighed contently in his arms and Chris could feel the omega relaxing against him. Good. His boy shouldn’t be stressed.
“I think something is burning,” Cora commented while sniffing.
Some French curses slipped past Chris’ lips as he let go of Stiles to instead return to the kitchen. Thankfully, his omega decided to trail after him, also followed by Allison. The two teens sat down at the kitchen table, Allison pulling Stiles against her side and nuzzling him.
“How was the first day of school?” Chris asked, trying to sound casual.
“It… was,” Stiles offered.
Chris turned enough to shoot him an unconvinced look and the boy shrugged. “Baby.”
“I don’t know,” Stiles heaved a sigh. “It’s weird, going to school without Scott. Everything feels different than it did last year. More… charged. Scott, Jackson and Lydia being gone is weird. Having an actual group of friends to sit with during lunch is… new. Having a girlfriend to sneak kisses with in the hallway is exciting and having a boyfriend who makes me excellent and ridiculously fancy lunch is amazing. Thank you for that, again.”
A broad grin spread over Stiles’ lips and it nearly melted Chris’ heart. Good. Happy looked so much better on his boy than anxious or worried. Chris walked over to him and carded his fingers through Stiles’ hair, grabbing him by the neck and pulling him into a soft kiss.
“I want you to be well-taken care of, even when I can’t be with you.”
“I am taking plenty care of him,” Allison protested offended.
“I know,” Chris shot his daughter a look. “But I want to take care of him too.”
“He is plenty taken care of all around!” Stiles injected amused.
“Let us be the judges of that,” Chris requested with a smirk.
He pressed a kiss to Stiles’ cheek just as Allison made an agreeing noise. The one thing they had noticed about their omega pretty quickly was that Stiles wasn’t very good at letting others take care of him because he was so used to being the caretaker. So the two Argents had sworn to teach their boy to let them take care of him. It was a slow process, but it was going well, Chris thought.
“Dinner is ready,” Chris called out, causing Noah and the Hales to come back.
“What’s with that, anyway?” Stiles asked, pointing at the three Hales.
“They called it ‘family dinner’,” Derek said, scent-marking Stiles in passing. “And mandatory.”
The Alpha sat down at the table with just a small smile, his sister sitting next to him. Chris and Allison sat down on either side of Stiles. With the sheriff and Peter dating, they thought the Hales should be as much part of this as the Argents. Chris smiled as he looked at their mismatched family.
