Chapter Text

Minerva

Oh how I thought today would be like every other day in the castle, little did I know my life was about to be turned upside down by a baby werewolf..

It started as an average Tuesday, I had woken up next to my beloved, Poppy in our shared private accommodation in the castle. I had: gotten up, washed, dressed and kissed my sleeping lover on her cheek before I left for my office.

On my way through the courtyard that led to my office of which was next to my classroom - The Transfiguration Classroom- I thought about lesson plans and what there would be for lunch and dinner, those thoughts left me the second I entered my efficiently packed office. There sat an owl on my desk specifically a short-eared owl except this owl I have seen before, this owl was the one that was accompanied on the front page of The Daily Prophet by none other than Lyall Lupin. He -at the moment- is really well known, always showing up on The Daily Prophet promoting his campaign against werewolves rights. Poppy had many opinions of this campaign, such as: "He wishes to take rights way from werewolves?! Minnie, its not something they can control, whoever can be that cruel! Oh, those poor witches and wizards that are affected by this!"

I had sat down to take a better look at the envelope, and there it was, Lyall Lupins wax crest. Whatever did Lyall Lupin want from me? Questions upon questions filled my head confusing me further. Once I had opened it my confusion moulded into utter bewilderment as - what had to be scrap paper- fell out of the prestigious envelope onto my mahogany flooring. I gathered the letter at first it seems like sprawled, hurried and untidy writing once I opened it, it was just as it seemed. In Lyall's rapid handwriting it read:

Minerva,

I am writing to inform you that my house has been attacked, no other that by werewolves. Hope-my wife-is dead. Meanwhile her child was bitten, he is still in the house. I believed that because you, yourself are a teacher you would be able to.. deal.. with him.

His name is Remus John Lupin, he is four, born on 10th March 1960, he is in the cottage right outside Wales, where we once had tea while you helped me with my transfiguration homework.

That is all I can say, I have fled, you mustn't contact me after this

Regards
Lyall Lupin

Poppy

Most days I regret being a healer today was the day I appreciated it for the rest of my life, yet today was suppose to be torture, meetings all day and a quiddich match , until a shaking Minnie appeared at my door.

I was awoken by a kiss on the cheek and the click of a door closing. I opened my eyes and a smile rested on my lips.

I had a big day ahead of me; a meeting with the headmaster about health and safety within the castle, a quiddich match which always ended up with at least three people in the infirmary which ment around the clock care and an overnight stay, and while that is happening I have lessons with the NEWT students wanting to do nursing after school.

Sighing at the thought I got up, heading towards the bathroom there I: brushed my teeth, took a long shower, dressed in my nursing uniform and pinned up my hair. Once I emerged from the bathroom I gathered my belongings in my messenger bag- folder, presentation, water bottle, apple, and Minerva's forgotten notebook she, usually, had every second of every day -and headed to the door. That was until Minerva had re-entered our shared space, shaking, "Minnie? Minnie, love, are you okay? Arn't you supposed to be at your classroom?" I questioned worry creeping into my voice. "L-look at t-this." She held out a shaking hand. She held a note no bigger than my hand, small cramped and hurried writing covered the paper. I read it as fast as my eyes could take me, and it was as if I had absorbed, of what I now understood it as, anger, the words poured put of me "A-a boy? My, Minerva we must go to investigate! The poor boy! Last night was a full moon! Minerva, oh Minerva, whatever are we to do! We must, we must go! please Minerva please!" She looked at me fury building in her eyes, "Gather your things love, we will leave as soon as we can." I practically ran to my first aid kit and picked up my messenger bag, who knows if the boy is fed!

I looked at Minerva and gave a swift nod and she held out her arm "Ready? We dont know what we will find out there." She asked a sudden steadyness in her voice " Yes, I know." I replied with an edge I didn't know I had. Then, we apparated to the cottage mentioned in the letter.
