Chapter Text
It was a dark day in Gardenview, as average. The village isn’t one of those wide ones recognized by the kingdom, but rather a small one located somewhere by the border. The villagers were happy that way. No ‘raised taxes,’ no ‘incoming proclamation!’ Bullshit.
Normally, the villagers would attend church.
“Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen! Go in peace and spread the word of the lord!”
Vee doesn’t even know why she goes to church anymore, maybe to cure her depression or something. It’s just a forced habit she had to when she was younger. Pray to the lord, get nothing back. Even though she knows that this ‘lord’ probably isnt even real.
One word she caught in her code, particularly said by the priest smoothly was,
“Jesus will reincarnate from the dead one day, to heal the world of sins and help us to a better life! That is why we wait for him.. blah blah blah..”
Reincarnation. Psh. What crap could be less fake than that? After all, if one person could revive. Why couldn’t she? The TV thinks about reincarnation as she bumps into Cosmo. The ‘upcoming world renowned scientist!’ As if.
“Oh hey Vee! Wanna hear about my latest project??”
She pauses, should she talk to him? Eh. Better than walking around all day and picking up gigs for drunk men.
“Oh, of course. Lay it on me!”
They start walking and joking with eachother throughout the time. The other toons would always glance whenever they’re together. Almost as if they think they’re mates. Pssh— no way. The villagers are too innocent for that.
“So basically, I’m planning on reviving people from the dead!”
From the dead? What a coincidence.
“Basically, how it works is I would find a dead person from the cemetery and ‘borrow’ their body right?”
The TV nods as if she gets the mad scientist’s rambling.
“I would use electricity to jolt all their body parts back up and stitch em’ together. Then I’ll do this maniacal laughter then ZAP THEM BACK TO LIFE!”
Cosmo exclaims in the middle of the passing as if he had the most genius plan on this Earth. Vee smoothly passes a remark to the scientist,
“Well then. If you think it’s going to work out well, how are you going to get food or their everyday needs? And would they still remember anything about their life?”
He waves her off,
“Well, I’ll get to that later in the process. Plus, they’re undead! They don’t need food!”
Vee cringes as a thought passes her mind
“Ew, not even showers?”
Cosmo puts a mock shocked expression on his face,
“Hey! I’m not a lazy slob. Course I’ll give em’ showers! Thats disgusting to even think about, Vee!”
He nudges her playfully, pouting as she does a laugh.
They walk, grab some food, and chat for a while before night finally turns, and the cake-roll has to get his sleep. As Vee drops him off at his giant somewhat mansion, he waves her away and slides a smooth comment, almost as if it was planned.
“See you soon Vee! Don’t let me protect you from any water splashes, kay?”
She thinks nothing of the subtle foreshadowing he just put into his words,
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be fine. Good-luck with your.. Reincarnation thing.”
She slips away but catches a glance from him, his mouth curling upwards a little, almost forming a smirk. Thats a bit.. off. Especially from a somewhat awkward guy like him.
The way home is a boring, and uneventful one. Nothing special, she just glances lively taverns and some toons going into alleys, eugh.
‘Don’t think vulgar thoughts Vee!’
She thinks to herself as she strolls along. The way from her house to Cosmo’s is a long way. A long boring way she’s ready to endure. As she passes a few more houses, she notices a shortcut. A shortcut which she had not seen before. The shortcut seems to have a shorter path to her house. For anyone with half a mind, theirs would he screaming
‘Don’t go there! It’s a trap!’
But its late at night and the television wasn’t thinking straight, of course. So she decides to go through the path, almost tripping on broken branches and sticks, as if they were strategically placed there.
“Ah! Theres so much obstacles here, does someone want my head or something?..”
She mutters beneath her breath as she passes through.
As she finally sees an exit to somewhere, she starts running. As if theres nothing more important than getting home. And then, she walks into a trap. As expected, she walks straight into a pond.
“Shit!”
She glances up just before her head dunks into the water. That stupid cemetery Cosmo was telling her about. No way she was going to be used as some experiment or worse, a slave!
The TV tries to swim back up, but she was never taught. The water floods into her systems triggering an error message that she could barely process, her limbs spasmed against the liquids, unable to think, unable to move, she’s dead.
‘I’m so fucking done. If he turns me into a servant, atleast give me my memories. Bitch.”
She cusses him out in her thoughts with the effort she can before sinking to the bottom.
The last thing she could see before her systems completely collapsed was the shadow of a man, she couldn’t even process at that time, so whats the point of even complaining when you’re dead. No one would want Vee if she was dead anyway. And it would stay like that. Right?
