Notes:

4 planned songs (all noncanon) across 11 chapters, this might be one of my most musical fics so far. Who's excited for some deliberate misinterpretations? : )

I think everyone managed to guess what was coming, and yet...nobody has any idea where this is going.

Chapter 1: The Devil In Disguise

Chapter Text

It had been several months since Saxobeat had seen George in person.

As much as the two enjoyed each other's company over the phone, Saxobeat's vocal stims would often send George into sensory overload within minutes. And any time Saxobeat tried to suppress it for him, she herself would be the one sent into a meltdown almost immediately. To most people, the two would seem completely incompatible as friends.

And yet, as Saxobeat walked into a familiar venue, all they thought about was how excited they were to see him again. Tonight, the two were reviving their old collaboration for Turn Up The Love, going onstage together for the first time in years. Not only that, they were mere footsteps away from meeting his brand-new girlfriend. What could be more exciting than that?

Saxobeat approached the backstage entrance and knocked. "George, I'm here!"

When George opened the door, her heart sank.

Sitting in front of the vanity was none other than Suni.

Saxobeat froze. "Why is she here?"

"What do you mean? That's my girlfriend?"

They stared at George for a moment. Had he been struck by one of Cupid's arrows? Quickly, they deduced that he hadn't - that was something they would have sensed immediately, and besides, he was far too composed for that to be possible.

Finally, Suni turned around, breaking the silence. "Oh...Saxobeat! So good to see you!"

"You two know each other?" George asked.

Saxobeat continued to stare, unsure of what to say. Was this her fault, for refusing to tell George about Suni directly? "We've met."

"Oh, uh...do you two not like each other or something?"

Before Saxobeat could finish typing a response, Suni cut them off. "Don't worry about it, George. Saxobeat and I, we've had some differences in the past, but it's nothing we can't work out."

As much as they wanted to object, they glanced at George, noticing the stressed look on his face. They couldn't start a fight in front of him! Regardless of Suni's potential intentions, he currently cared about them both

"Hey, George, why don't you go get the soundcheck started? Suni and I should probably have a little chat."

He nodded. "Alright. Just don't leave me out of it if something more serious is going on between you two."

Once he was out of earshot, Saxobeat grabbed Suni by the collar of her shirt. "Alright, I don't know what you want with him, but you need to stay the fuck away."

"I don't know what you're talking about! You know my mother didn't strike him, you'd feel it. He's dating me all on his own volition."

"And why are you dating him?"

Suni gave a fake laugh. "Because I love him! He's sweet, he's kind-"

"You don't love him. You're always talking shit about my autism, you're not going to turn around and date an autistic person just like that."

"A girl can change, you know."

"Change? You tried to kill two people! You're not going to be forgiven that easily."

"Look, Saxobeat, I don't expect you to understand. I get it." Suni looked away. "I did some awful things with my mother, to try and impress her, but I want to be better than her now. Can't you at least-"

"Nope. You're lying."

Suni looked at them, seemingly startled. "What makes you say that?"

"I know you, Suni. Stay away from George. I don't care who you want to string around for whatever reason, but don't mess with him."

"I just..." Suni turned around, and after a moment, appeared to be wiping away a tear. "I want to be better...I want to be different, I want- I know I can't fix everything, but can't you see? I'm trying to turn my life around!"

"Tell that to Maeve and Yura."

"I feel horrible about what I did to them. I only wanted to make my mother and Selios happy, I wanted to succeed. I thought that if I did, they'd be proud, but...neither of them seemed that interested, even before they found out what happened."

"Tell that to Lucille."

Suni sighed. "I know, my mother and I- she was so selfish towards Lucille, all she wanted was a maid to move the clouds around for her. I- I feel horrible about that too. I never should've gone along with her plan."

"Why should I trust you?"

"You shouldn't! I wouldn't trust me either, I get it. I just hope...you'll think about it, okay? Just give me some time, I'll prove myself."

Saxobeat examined Suni's expression, as best as she could while Suni was still facing the wall. Could Suni actually be serious? Or was this just some ploy? And if it was a ploy, what could the end goal possibly be from dating George? When she couldn't come up with an answer, she reluctantly took a step back.

"I've got my eye on you, Suni."

"I know...he's always talking about how much you care about him. It's sweet...I wish I were more like you."

"Whatever. I'm gonna go check on George. Bye."

That night, Suni's doorbell rang. When she opened the door, she saw Cupid standing in the doorway.

Just as she expected.

"How are things going with you and that...George, dear?" Cupid asked.

Suni grinned. "Just perfect. You should've seen me, I don't know how I managed to fake crying without any tears. Phase one of the perfect revenge plan is going just as we hoped."

Is this a bad time to mention I'm heavily considering doing a Whumptober series this year?
