Chapter 1: Beginning

Chapter Text

1998

“Tens, I’ve been meaning to gift you this for a while now.” Spamton proclaimed nervously but hopeful.

Over the past few days spamton been thinking of doing something special for Tenna yet it, weighed heavily on him. Spamton knew something was coming for him, maybe it was someone, or something? Spamton didn’t wanna get his hopes up on getting settled in with Tenna, knowing he’d be gone soon, even if he didn’t know when that would be.

Spamton just wanted to leave something important and sentimental with Tenna knowing he’d wouldn’t be there for him. It pained him deeply to have to do this, he just wanted to stay with Tenna and live together till they grew old. Why did fate have this in plan for him? Why did he have to leave him? Why did it hurt so bad if he knew it would happen for a while.

Tenna obliviously sat on the couch next to Spamton in the dressing room, his hand on his back and legs crossed. Spamton sat shaking yet he hid it well, he was a good actor after all.

“What is it spammy?” Spamton clenched his teeth. That nickname hurt him reminding him of the close attachment he’d grow to Tenna. Tenna saying it so lovingly made him regret this more than before.

“Well I’ve been thinking about what you asked me the other day,” a few days ago Tenna asked Spamton a question. They were both drunk sitting at Rambs bar. After long talks or dreams they had of the future it had them bring up the conversation.

———————————————

“Spamton, I-i really have enjoyed my time on the show with you. Ive just enjoyed my time with you for these years.” Tenna drunkenly talked yet he had lovingness and optimism in his voice.

“I have to Tenna” Spamton spoke thinking that was the end of this short topic. He sat his hand on Tenna’s thigh, taking another sip of his drink.

“Well I’ve been thinking and I know this is CRAZY but I just wish we had more!” He spoke avoiding eye contact with the mailman. Spamton looked up from his drink surprised.

“Well what do you mean by more? More viewers or a higher budget for the sets or-!” Spamton was then cut off by Tenna snickering.

“No! I mean for us!” Tenna then took Spamtons hands in his and looked him in the eyes. “Well, uhm I wanted to ask if-“ his voice trembled but he was still smiling at Spamton. “You wanted to start a family?”

“Uh-“ Spamton started to shake and stutter. He knew his benefactor would not be happy about this.

“Uhm s-sorry I just, thought. But it’s ok if you don’t want to!” Spamton loved Tenna and wanted more than anything to love him then start a family. If the damed prophecy hadn’t been revealed to Spamton maybe he would even be happily unknowing of Tenna fate, of their fate. But fate was twisted.

“I uhm I don’t know, it just you know I’m not good with commitment! And erm-“ he didn’t know what to say. He almost resented Tenna for being lucky enough to not know why. Before Tenna could get another word out Spamton turned back to the bar, some hair strings hung over his face as he sulked. Tenna didn’t feel as if he needed to put another word in Spamton.

——————————————

“Well what did I say?” Tenna said with a slight frown wondering if the thoughts Spamton had were bad or good. “I know it’s not what you really want,” Spamton said taking the small blue egg out of his pocket. “But I hope you like it.” Spamton then presented the egg to Tenna blushing slightly. Tenna eyed the egg in the smaller man’s hands gazing at it with curiosity. Tenna then frowned.

Oh no no no! He doesn’t like it. I thought he would like it!

Spamton sat there gazing at Tenna’s screen. Wide eyed while trying to keep a smile on. He then started to turn away and put the egg back.

“i-if you don’t like it I can u-uhm get rid of it.” Tenna the grasped spamtons hand lightly as to not be to rough. He then took the egg in his own hand, still observing it closely. “Is this, an egg? L-like with something inside living?!” Spamton looked back at Tenna’s buzzy screen, warm with a pink hue. “Oh spammy it’s,” he rolled the egg to his other robotic hand. “It’s just wonderful spammy!”

Spamton was taken aback at the sudden mood change, then breathed a sigh of relief. He started nervously laughing along with Tenna’s joy. Tenna then took spamton from the couch in a big hug and lifted him off, growing as the egg was perched between the hug.

Dear God it was going to be hard leaving.

“Oh spam I’m so glad you changed your mind!!” Tenna said sitting back down while letting go of Spamton. Tenna than pressed a soft kiss on the egg, still looking in fascination. “Where did you get this?”

“Well it’s just a thing Addisons can do, it’s not that big of a deal tens,-“ Spamton was then cut off by Tenna progressively more exciting words. “Not a big deal?!? It’s a huge deal! You created life!!” Spamton cringed at the life part.

“Tenna, I hate to get you glooby but, it’s not a real living thing, it’s unfertilized.” Tenna looked back at the egg then his smile turned into a thin line. “I’m just not really ready for a kid tens.” Spamton really wasn't good with this mushy gushy stuff.

Tenna was definitely disappointed at that fact, yet still excited at spamtons thoughtfulness. Tenna had always dreamed of a family. Since the Dremuurs had gotten him he’d always loved the idea of having them. The way Kris and asriel
always played so joyfully together. The way Torial always looked at them when they always peacefully slept.

He knew that Spamton didn’t seem like the person to like kids. It was obvious that when he mentioned the kids he would look uncomfortable, maybe even regretful? Even at that he’d want to have kids with nobody but Spamton. Dreaming of growing old, having grandkids running around Tenna and Spamtons house in the future.

“Spamton,” Tenna put his hand on Spamtons waist, still holding the egg in the other hand. “Thank you for it, I-i know you haven’t really wanted kids. It just means a lot that you would think of this for me.” He pressed a light kiss on Spamtons cheek. Then grabbing a blanket, he made a makeshift nest for the egg on the dresser. “There! Now I can keep it with me every day!”

Tennas screen glowed that beautiful glow that he had learned to love. His hand were so gently and kind to the small egg. All though it was not even alive the CRT treated it like it was a small piece of pottery that could break at any sudden movement. Oh how Spamton loved those genital hands. He really was going to miss him.

“Everyday..” Spamton mumbled.

———————————————-
Time jump

“Spamton why don’t we make it official.” Tenna starred at Spamton, screen black with only a toothy smile. The room was dark, empty. Tenna held out his large gloved hand to to the smaller man. The CRT made it clear that he was attempting to be enticing.

“I can write up a contract right now! You get 40% of ad revenue and I get 60! All you have to do is stay working with me at the studio.”
Tenna started to write on a piece of paper in neat handwriting he’d seen on all of his documents.

Spamton sat there sweating knowing what would happen if he’d agree to signing it.

Spamton couldn’t sign that contract. His benefactor would kill him! Tenna’s contract overriding his current one. For his sake he can’t sign it without regretting it for the rest of his life.

His benefactor had warned him what would happen if he had signed anything with tenna off. Let alone a contract that directly overrode their contract would be a death sentence.

Spamton looked down at the paper being slide to him, Tenna being slow and deliberate. His hands felt hard, unnatural. He thought it was just a hallucination from being nervous.

“Tenna I can’t, you know this!” Spamton shook his head in small movements while staring at the paper still. “But Spamton, we could be big together! Spamton and Tenna on the show!”

Even if Spamton was already doing the show with Tenna, he was only doing ads during the show, Tenna was the one doing the show by himself. Even if it meant a lot to Spamton Tenna would share his show with him, he had a deal with his benefactor. He could only do ads, sell things, not be on the actual show.

“Tenna I just can’t! I’m the ad guy, not the tv guy. it’s not like I can just stay here all the time! I have business in cyber city, I can’t just get rid of those clients.” Spamton looked up at Tenna, gesturing with his hands. Tenna’s screen was still black, yet it got fuzzy. “Oh spammy, you know you want to. You would make so much more money if you signed!”

It was true Tenna already payed Spamton a hefty amount of money just for doing the ads. If he got in on the actual show he would get tons more. He could get more clients from the promotion! I mean signing it couldn’t be that bad, besides it not like the benefactor would care. It’s only a promotion!

“I-I’ll do it.” Spamton looked down at the paper below him. As he grabbed the pen he saw his finger contort into plastic sections, hard and dark between the lines. He hesitated and dropped the pen. Then the segments disappeared, going back to his fleshy fingers. He was so sick of the hallucinations he’d been dealing with. The room closed in somehow almost getting darker than dark. As if someone was lurking in the dark her heard mental laughter, they sounded like a pack of hyenas closing in on the kill.

He picked up the pen again as the segments reappeared. “Cmon, sign it,” Tenna looked at him with the creepy grin, every time Tenna used that face it unsettled him to his core. “Big shot.” He lifted the pen higher off the contract, green strings lifting his hands. The strings then slammed his hands back down on the paper and signed aggressively. “Good job spammy.”

Ring…

Ring…

Ring…

Spamton froze and looked behind him. The only other object in the room was a black telephone. A large spotlight pointed onto it as it continued to ring. “Thank you for signing that, glad to get that out of the way! We can finally work together.” Spamton rose from his chair, walking back to the phone.

Ring…

Ring…

Ring…

Tenna looked forward to Spamton walking to the phone. He took small, fearful strides as he walked to the back of the dark room. Tenna saw Spamtons fear and got nervous, his face turning back to his normal expression. “Spamton, w-what’s wrong?” His voice shook. Spamton always got phone calls, they weren’t uncommon. But this time it felt different. Tenna shivered seeing Spamton so scared. What if this time it was different. The ringing sound hadn’t changed but as it progressed it felt more and more inpatient.

Ring…

Ring…

ring…
Spamton squeezed his eyes shut as he gripped the black telephone. The ringing stopped as he answered the caller. The room got tighter around him. The green strings still around his segmented fingers. He gritted his teeth as he listened to the caller.

“You know you shouldn’t have signed that spamton. You know what will have to happen to you now.”

Somehow Spamton didn’t know what will happen, but from the condition of his fingers he could guess.

“I-I’m sorry! I thought you would be fine with it!”

“Why would I be fine with that. You didn’t follow the rules of my contract. You knew that Spamton. Now I would recommend that you stay far away from the little CRT of yours.”

Spamton dropped the phone, leaving it to hang slack on the ground. Before Tenna could even realize why he dropped the phone or was so pale, Spamton started running. “Spamton? Spamton! What’s wrong! Is it something I did, I’m sorry!” And Spamton was gone.

All Tenna wanted to do was run after him, and comfort him. But he just froze collapsing on the ground and crying. Why did his sweet spam leave him? Was him signing the contract that bad?

Tenna sat on the floor a crying mess. He continued to shrink until he was smaller than on of his own small golden statues from the gift shop. He hoped his Spamton would come back. It’s not like he would, Spamtons never done anything like this before.
