Prologue

Outskirts, Hidden Leaf Village

The Hidden Leaf Village was bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
Children laughed as they ran through crowded streets. Merchants packed away their goods while the scent of fresh food drifted from nearby homes. Shinobi returning from missions exchanged weary smiles with their families, grateful for another peaceful day.
For a brief moment, the village felt untouchable.
Suddenly, the sky darkened.
The sudden pressure crushed the air itself. Birds scattered from rooftops. Windows rattled violently. A suffocating wave of chakra swept across the village like a tidal wave.
"ROAARRR!"
Villagers froze in terror as an enormous figure emerged beyond the walls, a monstrous fox towering over the forest, its crimson eyes glowing with hatred. Nine massive tails lashed behind it, tearing through the ground and uprooting entire trees.
"The Nine-Tails..." someone whispered in horror.
Panic erupted instantly.
The Kyūbi opened its jaws.
A massive wave of fire exploded across the outskirts of the village, swallowing buildings whole. Screams echoed through the streets as shinobi rushed civilians to safety.
High above the village, Hiruzen Sarutobi landed atop a rooftop alongside several elite ninja.
The old Hokage's face hardened.
"Why did it have to happen now of all times...?" The village had barely recovered from the third great Ninja War.
"ROAARRR!" The Kyūbi slammed its tails into the earth. The resulting shockwave ripped through the surrounding area, forcing the shinobi backward.
"We must hold it here!" Hiruzen shouted. "Evacuate the civilians and buy time for Minato!"
The shinobi obeyed instantly.
Fireballs, earth walls, explosive tags, and countless jutsu bombarded the beast.
None of it mattered.
The Kyūbi barely reacted.
Chakra began to gather inside its mouth.
Hiruzen's eyes widened.
"No! It's a Tailed Beast Bomb!"
The bomb was launched, threatening to destroy everything in its path.
But suddenly, the space twisted violently as the Tailed Beast Bomb vanished.
A second later, a massive explosion erupted far beyond the mountains, illuminating the distant horizon.
The shockwave still reached the village.
Dust and debris tore through the streets as shinobi struggled to remain standing.
"Hey look! It's Lord Fourth!"
"We're saved!"
Minato ignored the voices below him.
His blue eyes remained fixed on the monster before him.
The Kyūbi stared back.
For a brief moment, neither moved.
Minato instantly vanished from view.
A yellow flash streaked across the battlefield as he reappeared beside the beast, slamming a Hiraishin mark onto its body.
The seal activated.
Space warped around the Kyūbi as the enormous beast vanished from the village entirely.
Silence fell.
Hiruzen stared at the empty battlefield before clenching his fists.
"Minato, no! He can't face the Nine Tails alone. I must help him..."
Without hesitation, he leapt toward the forest beyond the village.

Outside, Hidden Leaf Village

The forest trembled violently.
Massive trees collapsed one after another as the Kyūbi rampaged through the area, its furious roars echoing across the night.
A yellow flash darted around the beast repeatedly.
Minato appeared beside the Kyūbi, driving a Rasengan into its side before vanishing again moments before a claw could crush him.
The attack barely slowed it down.
The beast healed almost instantly each time.
Minato landed atop a broken tree branch, breathing heavily.
"This isn't enough..."
His clothes were torn. Blood ran down his arm. Chakra exhaustion weighed heavily on his body, but his thoughts remained elsewhere.
Kushina.
Naruto.
Menma.
The Kyūbi suddenly swung one of its tails toward him.
Minato vanished.
The tail obliterated the forest behind him.
A second later, a gigantic shadow dropped from the sky.
"Move, Minato!"
Gamabunta crashed directly onto the Kyūbi, forcing the beast backward while the giant toad pinned one of its tails beneath his blade.
A tall white-haired man with red markings on his face landed beside Minato.
"Look at you, Minato. You look terrible!" the man chuckled before glancing toward the Kyūbi. His expression became serious. "Though I guess that thing looks worse."
Minato let out a tired breath.
"Jiraiya-sensei..."
Jiraiya placed a hand on Minato's shoulder, channeling chakra through a small seal.
Warm energy flowed through Minato's exhausted body. "I've given you some of my chakra. Go and find the vessel for the Nine-Tails. We'll handle things here," he instructed as Minato teleported away.
With a final glance at the Kyubi, Jiraiya declared, "Let's see what you're made of, Nine-Tails!"
"It's my first battle with a tail beast. You owe me some sake after this, Jiraiya!" The chief toad quipped.

Hokage's Resident, HLV

The room was quiet.
Far too quiet.
Kushina Uzumaki sat weakly against the bed, her breathing uneven as she held her newborn sons close to her chest.
Despite her pale face and trembling body, her arms never loosened around them.
Minato appeared beside her in a flash of yellow light.
The moment Kushina saw the blood covering him, fear filled her eyes.
"Minato! W-what happened?"
He stepped forward slowly before kneeling beside her.
For a few seconds, neither spoke.
Minato gently brushed a hand against Naruto's cheek before looking at Menma.
His sons.
They were so small and fragile.
And yet the weight of the entire village now rested on them.
Kushina noticed the look in his eyes immediately.
"No."
Minato closed his eyes.
"Kushi..."
"No!" she shouted weakly, pulling the twins closer. "You're not sealing that thing inside our children!"
Pain flashed across Minato's face. "I don't have any other option."
"There has to be one!"
"You need to understand Kushina, the Kyūbi can't remain free."
"Then seal it back into me!"
"You know your body can't handle it anymore."
Kushina fell silent.
Deep down, she already knew. The extraction had already left her at death's door.
Minato lowered his gaze.
"There's something else," he said quietly.
Kushina frowned.
Minato's voice became grim.
"The masked man who attacked tonight... I don't know who he truly is," Minato continued, "but he's powerful enough to threaten the entire world."
Kushina stared at him in disbelief.
"And you think our children should carry that burden?"
Minato's hands trembled slightly.
"No," he admitted softly. "I don't."
That answer broke her heart far more than any justification could have.
"But I believe in them. They will master the Nine Tails chakra and thrive together"
Tears formed in Kushina's eyes.
Minato leaned forward, gently pressing his forehead against hers.
"I'm sorry, Kushina..."
For a long moment, Kushina said nothing.
Then, slowly... painfully... she loosened her grip on the twins.

Outside, Hidden Leaf Village

The sky had turned black.
Massive golden chakra chains restrained the Kyūbi while Gamabunta pinned it to the ground.
Minato appeared at the center of the battlefield carrying Naruto and Menma carefully in his arms.
Hiruzen arrived moments later.
The old Hokage froze.
"He can't mean to..."
Minato already had the hand seals prepared.
The air suddenly turned cold.
An enormous spectral figure materialized behind Minato.
"Is that the Shinigami?" Jiraiya's expression darkened.
The Fourth Hokage looked down at his sons one final time.
He smiled sadly. "I'll split the Nine-Tails' chakra."
The Kyūbi thrashed violently against the chains.
"No! You puny mortals!"
"The Yin half will be sealed inside me," Minato continued calmly. "The remaining chakra will be divided between the twins."
Kushina's voice trembled.
"Minato... please... you don't have to die... I can take it away it with me... then... then it would..."
"...it'll just reform again in a few years." Minato closed his eyes. "Kushina... just take care of them for me."
The Shinigami's arm pierced through Minato's body.
Pain unlike anything he had ever experienced tore through his soul. Blood spilled from his mouth.
"ROOAARRR!" A massive portion of the Nine Tails' chakra was ripped away and sealed into Minato.
The beast's size visibly shrank.
Minato nearly collapsed but forced himself to remain standing.
"N-now... the Eight Trigram seal."
Two small sealing platforms formed beneath Naruto and Menma.
The remaining chakra surged violently toward them.
But something went wrong.
The Kyūbi suddenly laughed.
A deep, hateful laugh.
Dark black chakra exploded outward uncontrollably.
At the same moment, the Shinigami's grasp faltered for a split second.
A violent burst of energy erupted between the twins.
The battlefield shook.
Jiraiya shielded Kushina as Gamabunta shielded them with his massive body while Hiruzen protected the surrounding area with an earth wall.
The blinding yellow light faded.
There was complete silence as smoke left by the explosion started to settle.
Slowly... Minato opened his eyes.
The Kyūbi was gone. He looked around but the Shinigami too was nowhere to be found.
"...I'm alive?" Before he could make sense of it, his vision faded into darkness.
Naruto cried loudly from one altar while Menma remained strangely quiet on the other.
Hiruzen and Jiraiya, picked up the babies, checking their condition while inspecting their seals. Astonishment seized them as they scrutinized the results.
Both children bore the Eight Trigram seals on their abdomens, but Menma's glowed while Naruto's didn't which signified that an error had occurred during the sealing. They had reached to the conclusion that Menma had absorbed the full Yang chakra, while Naruto housed the Nine-Tails' soul.
What astounded them more was Minato's survival after deploying the Reaper Death Sealing Jutsu, attributed to the explosion.
Yet unnoticed by all, Naruto's left eye briefly turned silver, while a fleeting aura of dark energy emanated from Menma.
"Are... my babies... safe?" Kushina asked weakly from the side, coughing up blood. Her words reached Hiruzen and Jiraiya, who nodded reassuringly. Hiruzen answered, "Yes, both are safe, Kushina," before she too succumbed to unconsciousness.

Hospital, Hidden Leaf Village

The hospital remained in chaos hours later.
Injured shinobi filled nearly every room while medical ninja rushed desperately through the halls.
Inside one isolated operating room, Tsunade worked tirelessly beside Kushina's bed.
Sweat rolled down Tsunade's face as glowing green chakra covered her hands.
Kushina's internal injuries were catastrophic.
Any normal person would have died already especially when their tail beasts are extracted from them forcefully.
Yet somehow...
She continued breathing.
Tsunade clicked her tongue.
"You Uzumaki are monsters."
Slowly, damaged tissue began repairing itself beneath the glow of medical chakra.
Nearby, Minato remained unconscious under heavy observation. His vitals were safe and he was still breathing.
No one understood how Minato had survived the Reaper Death Seal.
But they were glad, that their beloved Hokage survived.

Author's Note

There's more to this event but I am not going to spoil it anymore yet. I bet you have many questions in mind as I pretty much rushed everything without explaining much and skipped a few (unnecessarily) things in this Prologue Chapter. However, there are few things to note:
1: Minato has yin half of chakra of the Kyubi/Kurama, while Menma has yang half. However, both of their consciousness (Yin and Yang half of Kurama's consciousness) mixed has been sealed inside Naruto after strange explosion.
2: Minato and Kushina will have one daughter after Nine Tails Fox attack.
3: Naruto will be neglected by his pareeeeentttsssssZz but not in a way you think (its a surprise so I won't spoil it), shunned by the village, hunted by the village's darker side and left alone in the village.
4: Naruto will have Ultra Instinct. (How? I will explain later in future chapters)
