Work Text:

After god knows how many hours, Lucy finally doesn’t feel she can keep her eyes open any longer. Although she’s been fighting it for probably a few hours now, she knows that if she wants to try to get out of here, she’s going to need to get some rest.

The ground is cold and hard, not exactly the ideal place to sleep, but it looks like it’ll have to do.

She jolts awake, maybe an hour later, maybe less or maybe more, to the sound of someone yelling. She can’t make out what it is, and for a minute she wonders if she dreamed her own panic. But then, it happens again.

She realizes that recognizes the voice. It’s the very voice of her new fiancé.

She quickly manages to get herself up, takes only the couple steps needed to get to the wall she thinks he must be next to.

“Tim?” She waits for an answer and at first it’s quiet. She worries maybe she is dreaming.

Then, he yells back. “Lucy? Is that you”

She’s so relieved she could cry. In fact, she does start crying.

“Yeah,” she sniffles, “Are you okay?”

“I should be asking you that.” She can hear him sniffle too.

“Tim,” she warns, and even with a wall between them, he knows she’s sending him a glare.

“I’m fine, just mad at myself for getting us into this situation.”

“It wasn’t your fault,” she says back without hesitation. But they both know he’s still going to blame himself, so she decides to try to lighten things a bit.

“Have you been here the whole time?” He wonders why he hasn’t heard her until now.

“Yeah, I’ve just been sleeping off the drugs. And it’s not like there’s much else to do here anyways. You?”

“Yeah, and same. God I’m so happy to hear your voice.

“Me too. I love you.”

“I love you too, Luce. So much.”

“Okay, let’s both sit down and keep talking.” They both sit, positioning themselves so their backs are against the wall. “So, tell me when you realized you wanted to propose to me.”

He smiles, really smiles, for the first time since they were on the beach. He hums, closing his eyes and resting his head against the wall.

“I mean, I’ve thought about it many times. After our second date, I knew you were it for me. But obviously it was too soon, so that wasn’t really thinking of proposing moment.

And then obviously everything that happened and we got back together, it of course has always been on mind but I didn’t want you thinking I was rushing things. But seeing our lives together after you moved in, the domesticity of it, the love that we share, I didn’t want to wait any longer.

The exact ‘I’m going to do it’ moment happened in our kitchen, oddly enough after you were talking about Ms. Grant and our neighborhood. And when you had to rush off to shower, I may have let your eggs burn because I started day dreaming about me asking you to marry me.”

“I knew I heard the smoke alarm!”

He feigns a gasp, “That’s the only thing you took from all of that?” They can hear the other one laugh.

—

“How long do you think it’ll be before someone finds us?”

He sighs, “I don’t know, but I hope soon. I miss seeing your face.”

She feels her cheeks get warm, unable to not smile. “Aww, well, I miss your face too.”

It dawns on him then that he doesn’t even know if she’s physically okay. He had to pop his shoulder back in place from being yanked around and it’s really been bothering him.

“Luce, are you hurt at all that you can tell?”

She hesitates for a moment. “I have what I’m guessing is a nasty cut on my cheek and more than likely a concussion. You?”

“I’m good,” he bites his cheek knowing she’s probably going to call him out on his lie.

He waits for it, but it never comes. In fact, she doesn’t have a response at all.

“Luce? You okay over there?”

“No,” she hiccups, “I can’t do this. I need to get out of here, I feel like these walls are closing in on me.”

“Okay,” he gives himself a few moments to compose himself first. “Slow down honey. Can you take a deep breath?”

“I can’t.”

“You can. Come on, in then out. Slow.”

He hates so much that he can’t just scoop her up in his arms and hold her tight.

“Okay,” she finally says after a couple minutes of breathing just like he reminded her to. “Thanks.”

“Always.”

—

“So, if we were home right now, I’m guessing you’d be jumping into wedding planning already. What do you want for our wedding?”

She’d be lying if she said she hasn’t thought about it many times since getting back together. And then in those few minutes they had after being engaged, all she could think about was becoming his wife.

“I don’t need anything fancy. I just need you, our family and friends.”

“Hmm,” she faintly hears him mumble, “But you’re going to want a dress right? I mean, you could show up to our wedding in a sweatsuit and I’d still look at you like you’re the most beautiful woman to exist, because you are. But I’m sure you’ve dreamed about your wedding dress at least once?”

Oh how she wishes she could kiss him right now. “Of course I am, and don’t you go looking on my Pinterest board when we get home. I would love it if your mom, Genny and Tamara came with me to look.”

“They’d love that, Luce,” they both have sweet smiles on their faces. “I’ve been thinking about our first dance.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah, I have. I can’t wait to hold you and sway with you in front of all the people that matter to us. And whatever song we choose, I know it’ll be perfectly us.”

“I love that you’ve thought about that. I have too.”

“Yeah?”

“Mhm, I may or may not have a playlist started of some song ideas a while back.”

“Can I hear some?”

“Always and Forever, that’s probably my favorite right now. Endless love, The Best is yet to come, and What a wonderful world. We can add more of course or if you don’t like one, we can take it off.”

“I love those. We’ll have to sit down when we get home, listen to them all and see which one feels right.”

When we get home. Hopefully soon someone will come find them, wherever they are.

—

“Do you have any idea where we are?”

“Not a clue. But I doubt we’re in LA.”

There is a beat of silence, until Lucy thinks of something and lets out a chuckle, “Who do you think is going to come busting through the doors of wherever we are first?”

“Angela.” They both say in unison.

“But I also think Grey won’t be far behind her,” Tim guesses.

“I wonder how long they’ve been looking for us.”

“Honestly, I have no clue what day it is anymore or how long it’s even been. The days all just blend together at this point.”

“I hope Kojo is okay. Who do you think is watching him? Oh I hope he didn’t wreck the house, you’ll never let us hear the end of it.”

“I’m sure Genny and the boys have him. And besides, I don’t think I could blame him this time.”

She frowns, thinking about her— their boy confused that his two owners suddenly just disappeared. “I hope the boys are giving him all the treats,” she laughs as she wipes a few tears, imagining him rolling his eyes.

“I’m sure they are honey. They know what a lovable dope he is.”

—

When they finally weren’t separated by a wall after a week and a half, they are practically glued at the hip, which isn’t a surprise to anyone.

Wesley was the one who finally got Malcolm to talk, just like he thought, Malcolm knew all of Everett’s secrets and he was able to take them both down.

While he’s handling that in Los Angeles with Garza; Angela and Grey are leading the way just like they both thought.

They were located in San Ysidro, almost to the Mexico boarder. They were found in a very old, abandoned warehouse. The team almost missed them at first, but then found the small door that lead them into a secret hallway where the two 6x6 cells were.

After EMS checked them both, they of course needed to get transported to the hospital. Lucy hasn’t said much since being found, which isn’t surprising since she is likely reliving all of her PTSD.

Tim however, puts up a fight when they try to put them in different ambulances. Thankfully one look from both Grey and Angela and the paramedics easily give in.

Giving Lucy the gurney is a no brainer, especially since they wanted to clean the wound on her cheek since it is most definitely infected.

He is already anticipating the anxiety that they both are going to have when they get whisked away for scans once they get to the hospital. After over a week of not seeing each other, all they want is to be in each other’s sight.

Hours later, after all of their visitors have left for the day, Tim climbs into bed with Lucy so he can finally hold her, or at least the best he can while being crammed in the tiny hospital bed.

Her head is resting against his chest, her eyes fighting to stay open. He smiles and kisses the top of her head.

“You know what’s crazy?”

“Hmm?” She mumbles.

“Do you remember when I was stuck in that room your rookie year and you refused to leave?”

He looks down to see her smile. “It’s crazy how far we’ve come. I was angry, depressed and kept trying to push you and everyone away, but you never let me.”

“And I never will.”

He lets out a soft chuckle, giving her another kiss, “I’ll hold you to it. Get some rest love, I’ll be right here.”
