Stuffy Nose

Summary:

Grace has a stuffy nose while in space, which sucks, because he can’t get any sleep because of it!

Notes:

Based on a true story (which is based on my situation right at this moment as of writing/posting this)

I did not proof read this so expect grammer / spelling mistakes

Also, Colt from Fall Guy is mentioned in this, but plays no role at all.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Grace hadn’t felt all too great the day before, his head had been foggy, and his energy was low.

Today had been better, he was insanely tired, but at least he was able to think more clearly.

Grace didn’t think he was sick, how could he be while he was in space! But somehow, despite being in space, Grace was sure it was just allergies that was messing with him, which was normal.

He remember how used to take allergy pills back on earth, but decided to stop randomly because he came to the realization that he didn’t want to take any extra medication that he may not need.

Maybe he was thought that by not taking the allergy pills, his immune system would strengthen and he would never get allergies ever again. And he thought his thought process had been proven right, because since then his allergy’s hadn’t bothered him when they usually would.

But now, at this moment, with the belief that it may be his allergies that were bothering him, he wished he would have taken the allergy pill. Well, not really, even if he did take the allergy pill and if his allergies did pass Navi use of it, he probably would still stop taking the allergy pills.

Which made Grace suddenly realize that he had turned into his brother.

His brother cult had a bad case of allergies, but despite this, he would never take any allergy pills until his allergies started bothering him.

Grace used to think Colt was silly for this, that was when he did use to take his allergy pill every day.

Well, it didn’t matter. Because whether or not this was allergies, it’s not like he could take an allergy pill, he was up in space for goodness sake, meaning that Stratt didn’t pack any allergy pills for him.

That was fine, Grace wasn’t feeling too bad, he was just sleepy was all.

But then night came, and Grace was ready for bed.

This was the moment where Grace felt like it was confirmed that it was, in fact, his allergies that were bothering him.

His nose had been runny off and on today, but tonight, it seemed like it was running endlessly, and not only that, it was getting hard to breathe.

Grace didn’t think nothing of it at first, he checked the Taumobia tanks, made sure everything was fine, talked with Rocky a bit, before deciding it was finally time to go to bed.

But Grace couldn’t, his stuffy nose hit full force and he could not breathe out of his nose, and it was uncomfortable breathing in and out of his mouth.

There were moments where his nose would get runny and he would blow it, which gave him a second where he could breath a bit more of his nose, before not being able to breath at all once again.

Grace didn’t have anything physical to relive his stuffy nose, which sucked.

Grace knew that it helped to relive a stuffy nose by sleeping elevated, so he propped up his pillow with more pillows that sat against the wall so he could sleep elevated. He tried sleeping on his back, which wasn’t as comfortable as sleeping on his side. His nose was still stuffy and he still could not breathe, so did it really matter if he slept on his back or on his side on the propped up pillows?

Grace moved over to sleep on his side. He couldn’t fall asleep. He tried sleeping on his back again, and he still couldn’t fall asleep. He tried sleeping on his other side, and he was met with the same results.

This was insanely annoying!

Grace sat up on the bed, and contemplated. He knew tomorrow would be a long day, he had stuff that he had to do that would last later in the night, which would go on past his bed time, which meant that if he wanted to have a decent day tomorrow where he wasn’t grumpy when night came, he would need to get some good sleep now. But he couldn’t because of his stupid stuffy nose!!!!

Grace had had it! If he was going to be forced to stay awake, he might as well do something!

He wanted to do something productive while also being able to complain about his stuffy nose at the same time.

Then Grace thought of an idea, he could just write a Fanfiction about his struggle.

He was currently hyper fixated on Star Trek, he could simply write a Fanfiction about Spock dealing with the same issues that he’s dealing with, which was that of a stuffy nose.

Grace wrote the fanfiction, and as he did so, he felt more tired. His nose got runny once more; and he blew it, which helped let him breathe a bit more easier.

As Grace finished up writing his fanfiction, he hoped he could post it without bothering to proof read it, and quickly use the moment of being able to slightly breath normally and his tiredness to his advantage and fall asleep right after.

That was a great idea, maybe I could- I mean! maybe he could do just that.

Grace posted the fanfic, and tried once again to go to bed.
