Work Text:

The summer night was warm, and a soft breeze broke the stillness of the air. She leaned against the railing, eyes scanning the city lights below her; the only thing that broke the silence was a few cars driving past. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking everything in. She heard soft steps coming closer, and she spun around. She watched Kara approach slowly, almost as if she were afraid to walk up to her. Lena had made her mind up; it had been an easy decision, and she was glad that Kara had come to find her.

“You’ve been watching me all night,” Lena said, “almost like you were afraid that I might disappear on you.” A small breath left her lips as she watched Kara move closer.

“Can you blame me?” Kara asked, her steps slower again, but there was determination behind the steps, and she walked closer and closer. Her gaze landed on Lena’s lips for a couple of seconds too long before she took all of Lena in again.

Lena didn’t step back to keep the distance between them; even if she had wanted to, she would soon have the railing pressed against her back. She looked at Kara and tried to figure out what her next step would be, so she could be prepared for it. “I don’t know,” she replied, “you might have asked someone else.” She smiled at Kara, “I might be a bit biased.” A soft breath left her lips as she let her eyes move down Kara’s body, taking her in, making sure she remembers everything about tonight in the future.

“Lena,” Kara’s voice was a soft whisper. She walked up to Lena, and she reached for her hand, she linked their fingers together, and she pulled her closer, a small smile on her lips, “Dance with me.”

It was silent a lot longer than necessary, and a small laugh from Lena broke the silence, “There’s no music,” she said. She gave Kara’s hand a small squeeze.

“We don’t need any music,” Kara replied. She wrapped an arm around Lena’s waist, pulled her closer, “let’s just sway together,” she said, and she slowly began to move them, “just follow me, it’s easy,” she said, “we’re just standing here.”

Lena rested her head against Kara’s shoulder. She swayed with her, she realized that she heard Kara humming something, she couldn’t place the song, but that was for another time. “You didn’t come here to dance with me,” Lena said, her hands pressed against Kara’s back. There was a change in Kara’s posture when she had said those words, “so why did you come here?”

“I want to see you,” Kara replied, “only you,” her voice soft close to a whisper; if it hadn’t been for the calmness of the summer night, her voice might have been drowned out by the sounds of the city.

Lena smiled at her. She pushed a strand of her hair away from Kara’s face, and her fingers lingered a bit longer than needed against Kara’s cheek. Their eyes locked together, Lena’s tongue darted over her lips. The momentum was building, faster and faster. She couldn’t say what it was, but something was changing in the air around them; it was like a charge was building, waiting to erupt. She wanted to ask what those words meant, but it was also scary to get an answer; it could be what Lena herself wanted it to mean, and it could also be the opposite of what she wanted to hear. A sharp breath escaped from her lips when she felt Kara’s hand on her cheek. She leaned into the touch; everything Kara said and did leaned the evidence in one direction. If there was something Lena could trust, it was evidence, and it was strong evidence right now.

Kara smiled at Lena. She rubbed a thumb over Lena’s cheek, and she wrapped her arm tighter around Lena, and she pulled her closer to her, bodies pressed together. Kara knew what she felt, and her reading of social cues might not always be the best, but the look on Lena’s face, her reaction, had given her the answers she had been looking for. Kara let out a small breath, she leaned in, the gap between them got smaller and smaller.

Finally, Kara’s lips brushed against Lena’s lips in a soft gentle kiss. She tested the waters to see what Lena’s reaction would be. She felt a hand hold on to her shirt, almost fisting it and pulled her closer. A soft moan left escaped from her lips as she felt Lena’s tongue running along her lip. It was an easy choice to let Lena deepen the kiss, lips moved together, tongues swirled against each other. Kara slowly pulled back from the kiss, she took Lena’s lower lip between her teeth tugging on it as she pulled back, a smile on her lips when she locked her eyes with Lena’s again.

Lena smiled, the evidence had been right. She looked at Kara, and she pulled her closer, connecting her lips with Kara’s again, and she felt how she was moving them towards the wall, and she soon had Kara pressed against the wall. A hand ran down the side of Kara’s body, she felt Kara’s hands on her back, and wrapped around her, Lena picked up, and spun around, her back against the wall, ands he wrapped her legs around Kara’s waist. Lena pulled back from the kiss, breathing fast and shallow, she ran her tongue over her lips, wetting them. She leaned forward, lips hovering close to Kara’s, “take me to bed,” she whispered, lips lingering, and she knew that Kara could feel her warm breath against her ear.

“As you wish,” Kara replied, and tightened her grip on Lena, lips trailed open mouth kisses down Lena’s neck, and over her shoulder. Kara pushed the door open, and she was going to do what Lena had asked of her.
