A Dagger A Day Is Suppose To Keep Azure Away Why Isn't He Backing Away...

Summary:

Azure’s magical training is still a work in progress, but today he manages to pull off a perfect Latin cloaking spell [Of course with the help of the hat].

Invisible and accompanied only by the snarky voice of his possessed hat, he decides to check in on Two Time.

He expects typical chaotic behavior; he doesn't expect to catch Two Time unbothered, using the razor-sharp edge of a dagger for their own pleasure.

When Azure’s focus shatters and the spell breaks, the lingering hatred left by the spectre completely vanishes—replaced by a frantic, dizzying need.

Work Text:

The silence of the sanctuary was broken only by the scratching of Azure’s quill and the occasional, dry chuckle from the brim of his own headwear. The hat, possessed by a sharp-witted entity that served as Azure’s voice, tilted slightly as Azure traced his fingers over an ancient tome.

“A cloaking spell? Bold choice for someone who still trips over basic incantations.”

Azure ignored the teasing. He closed his eyes, focusing his energy, and began to form the words in his mind, channeling the intent through his magic. He mentally projected the syllables, letting the ancient language take root.

“Invisibilis et occultus, a lúmine amótus, tére ego ex óculis,” Azure chanted internally, pouring his willpower into the spell.A sudden, cool shimmer washed over his skin. He raised his hands, watching them dissolve into absolute nothingness.

“Well, color me impressed,”

The hat remarked, its voice muffled as the spell wrapped around the fabric too.

“We are officially ghosts. Now, what grand, forbidden knowledge are we going to steal with this newfound privacy?”

Azure didn't answer—he couldn't—but his thoughts drifted toward a specific room down the corridor. He wanted to see what Two Time was doing. Ever since the spectre's influence had waned, the burning hatred Azure once felt for Two Time had morphed into something murky, confusing, and altogether unresolved. Moving like a shadow, Azure slipped out of his room and glided down the stone hallway. The door to Two Time’s quarters was slightly ajar. Azure pushed it open an inch further, stepping into the dim room completely undetected. What he saw froze him completely.

Two Time was sitting at the edge of the bed, seemingly lost in a world of their own making. Even in the privacy of their quarters, they appeared restless, their hands fidgeting with the hilt of their signature dagger. They were known throughout the Forsaken realm for their unpredictable and unstable nature, and seeing them now—completely unbothered by the possibility of being watched—only reinforced that reputation. Two Time was murmuring under their breath, the sharp edge of the blade catching the dim light as they traced patterns in the air, barely missing their own skin. It was a display of reckless intensity that made Azure’s breath hitch.

“Oh, my,”

The hat’s voice echoed in Azure’s head, sounding uncharacteristically stunned.

“That is a particularly chaotic state of mind, even for them.”

Azure couldn't look away. His boots felt glued to the floorboards. The sight of Two Time’s raw, unfiltered intensity sent a sudden, shocking jolt through Azure’s core. The old hatred he had carried felt distant, replaced by a dizzying, confusing heat that flooded his veins. He watched the way Two Time moved—erratic, driven by a chaotic internal frenzy—and felt a strange pull toward the very instability he used to fear.

His heart hammered against his ribs. In the face of such overwhelming emotion, his focus shattered. The Latin phrase dissolved from his memory, and with it, the magic snapped. The shimmering veil broke instantly, revealing Azure standing by the door, wide-eyed and flushed. Two Time didn't flinch. They didn't scramble to hide their erratic behavior. Instead, they simply looked up, eyes glassy and dark, a twisted, knowing smile spreading across their face. The presence of an audience didn't deter them; it seemed to only heighten the intensity of the moment.

“Right. I’m out,”

The hat’s voice snapped inside Azure’s mind, dripping with sheer annoyance.

“I am not witnessing the fallout of this particular encounter.”

Before Azure could think a response, the entity within the hat cast a swift, self-inflicted spell. The sentient spark vanished instantly, turning the headwear into nothing more than an inanimate piece of fabric.

It could no longer see, hear, or project thoughts. Left in the heavy silence, Azure looked from the now-silent hat to Two Time, who remained watching him with a gaze that felt like a challenge. The atmosphere in the room was thick with unspoken tension and a mutual, chaotic understanding.

Azure didn't hesitate. He stepped backward, closing the heavy wooden door with a solid click, and turned the iron lock. Turning back toward the room, he moved toward the bed, ready to face the unpredictable connection that now bound them together.

The iron lock clicked into place, sealing the world outside. The heavy silence of the room rushed back, thick with heat and the smell of ozone from the shattered cloaking spell. Two Time didn't move from the edge of the mattress, their glassy eyes tracking Azure as he dropped his heavy coat to the floor. The dagger remained loose in their grip, its silver edge gleaming against the dark sheets. Azure stepped forward, driven by a sudden, volatile desperation. The confusion that had plagued him for months—the blurred lines where the spectre’s forced hatred met his own buried fixation—snapped into a singular, sharp focus. He didn't need words. The raw, uneven breath rattling in his chest said enough.

When he reached the bed, he came down over Two Time like a physical weight, crowding out the air between them. Two Time let out a sharp, erratic laugh against his collarbone, their fingers digging directly into the fabric of his shirt. There was no hesitation, no gentle transition. The sudden collision of their bodies was clumsy, intense, and immediate. Azure’s thrusts were frantic. He moved with a blind, driving speed, his hands gripping Two Time’s hips so tightly his knuckles turned white. Every movement was fast and desperate, a chaotic attempt to drown out the sudden realization of what he was doing. He was chasing the rhythm, pushing deeper to escape the overwhelming heat flooding his senses.

Two Time took the frantic momentum without a hint of resistance. Their hips shifted unevenly beneath him, matching the erratic, unhinged energy that defined them. They didn't hit a steady cadence; instead, they moved in sharp, unpredictable jerks, their breath escaping in short, shallow gasps every time Azure drove forward. The dagger slipped from their hand entirely, clattering uselessly against the floor as they clawed at Azure’s back. Without a voice, Azure’s frantic pace spoke for him. It was a chaotic confession of everything he couldn't say—the anger, the confusion, and the sudden, overwhelming need to possess the very instability that used to terrify him.

Though Two Time's hands didn't clawed on Azure back for long as their fingers clawed blindly across the mattress, finally bunching the thick fabric of the sheets into tight, white-knuckled fists. The frantic, driving pace Azure set seemed to shatter whatever lingering focus they had left, pulling them entirely into the chaotic heat of the moment.

With every sudden, heavy impact, Two Time let out sharp moans and deep, ragged groans that echoed loudly against the locked door. The sounds weren't rhythmic or controlled; they were raw, uneven, and entirely unhinged, escaping their throat in breathless bursts that matched Azure's desperate movements. Their head rolled back against the pillows, their chest heaving as the intense friction and relentless speed pushed them closer and closer to the edge.

The tension that had built between them finally broke, leaving a heavy silence in the locked room. The intensity of the encounter faded, replaced by the weight of the air and the sound of their ragged breathing as the moment drew to a close. Every thought of the past and the specters that haunted them seemed to settle, grounding them in the quiet aftermath of the shared experience. Azure remained still for a long moment, the adrenaline slowly receding as the reality of the situation returned. The room felt smaller now, the shadows stretching across the walls as they both processed the shift in the atmosphere.
