Chapter Text
Minho didn’t expect to see two Kittys next to him as the pale Portland light fell in on him in the morning. He had reached over to snuggle up to his girlfriend but jerked back when he saw a carbon copy snuggling up to her instead, snoring loudly. Could he be hallucinating? He had just spent the last 16 hours travelling and the time difference was no joke.
He squeezed his eyes shut and looked again.
Nope.
It was still two of them.
But the copy had shorter hair.
As if sensing his confused look, she opened her eyes wide and stared right back at him.
And then the screaming started.
He jolted back off the bed, wrapping the blanket around him. The copy did the same. Kitty, who could normally sleep through an earthquake, also woke up. Soley because the blanket was missing, Minho suspected.
Then Lara Jean and their dad came bursting into the room.
Great. First twenty-four hours in America and he'd already met Kitty's father wearing nothing but boxers and a blanket.
“This is not what it…” Minho started but then trailed off. How was he even going to finish that sentence?
They all looked at him, bemused.
“Why is there a boy in here?” the copy exclaimed.
“Oh yeah, Kitty brought her boyfriend home.” LJ said sleepily, rubbing her eyes.
“That would have been good information to have when I came home at three am with an urge to hug my little sister!”
Kitty stared at the jeans on the floor like getting dressed required a full strategic planning session. He recognized that look. She'd already decided she wasn't moving.
Instead, she turned to him with and exasperated look on her face.
“Meet my sister Margot.”
He attempted a dignified wave, which proved difficult while simultaneously holding the blanket, trying not to flash his girlfriend's entire family.
“Don’t you read the group chat?” Kitty asked Margot.
“Yeah, I’ve been travelling for the last 20 hours, sorry for not keeping up! I didn’t even know this was on again!”
She motioned to the two of them. Minho and Kitty looked at each other before simultaneously answering.
“Yeah, it’s back on.”
Margot looked from one to the other.
“Good to know. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go to my room and die.”
She turned to Minho.
“It’s nice to finally meet you.”
Margot scurried out while the rest of them stood there for a moment, not quite knowing what to do with themselves. Dan clapped his hands together.
“Right, see you all downstairs for breakfast in a bit?”
He and LJ walked out, but she popped her head back.
“Wear some more clothes for that.” She blinked.
The room was quiet again. Minho threw himself back against the bed and groaned, putting a pillow over his head. Kitty sat down on the ledge and took his available hand.
"Honestly? That could've gone worse."
He lifted the corner of the pillow.
"Name one way.”
"You're spiraling."
"I'm not spiraling."
"You're counting exits."
He looked toward the door.
"...maybe a little."
She gently lifted the pillow and placed a kiss on his forehead.
“Welcome to the family.”
