The Epic Tales of the Land of Wav

Summary:

Hyerin, Soomin, Yeonji, Joobin, and Seoah in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Just me turning the campaign I always wanted to play into a story because why not? Not completely DnD accurate – it's for fun and it's fiction.

Notes:

Stats aren't really important, but it just gives them more character so you can see what their strengths and weaknesses are, and a bit of a general view from a DnD perspective. I don't even know at this point, I'm just yapping to yap.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Hyerin chose the lute to play, despite Soomin telling her when they were kids that it was "for old men". Unbeknownst to her, Soomin is secretly trying to learn a few songs on it to impress her. Hyerin would rather not get her hands dirty, preferring to support from the sidelines, although can rise to the challenge if provoked by Soomin or Yeonji.

When she was a child, Soomin ran away from home to pursue her "destiny", leaving Hyerin alone for a long time. Then the famine came, starving all of her village bar her. In a cruel twist of fate, Hyerin was chosen to be spared by the gods. All Hyerin had left was herself and an old picture of Soomin, so she set out to find her. Now that they have reunited, Hyerin will do anything to not lose Soomin again.

Kim Soomin:

Class: Cleric

Race: Human

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Cantrips: Resistance, Sacred Flame, Spare the Dying

Spells: Bless, Cure Wounds, Command, Guiding Bolt, Inflicted Wounds, Shield of Faith

Growing up in a small village, her neighbours had always been skeptical of the gods. Nevertheless, her mother Yooyeon had always insisted on praying to the goddess of life, Heejin. Faith came in handy when she was blessed by the Loonar Gods, who told her she had a bright destiny. Soomin immediately packed her bags and ran off, only stopping to wave goodbye to her mother.

Waiting for destiny was a lot more boring than she had expected, so Soomin resolved to take matters into her own hands. Joining a temple dedicated to Heejin, Soomin studied hard day and night, finally becoming a priest. Although, she was kept up at night sometimes by the thought of Hyerin, and she sometimes wished that Hyerin had tagged along to pursue her own destiny. Surprisingly, Heejin somehow never got tired of Soomin's special prayers – yapping on and on about her thoughts, a stream of consciousness instead of carefully chosen words. Perhaps that's what sets her apart from all the other clerics. Soomin is utterly convinced of the significance of destiny and not even Hyerin can change her crash course into the gods' favours.

Kwak Yeonji:

Class: Barbarian

Race: Human

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Strength: +3
Dexterity: +2
Constitution: +3
Intelligence: +1
Wisdom: -1
Charisma: +2

Health: 13

Perception: -1

Armour: 13

Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, Athletics, Nature, Survival

Features: Rage, Unarmoured Defence, Wanderer

Inventory: a greataxe, a battleaxe, two handaxes, a quarterstaff, four javelins, a hunting trap, an explorer's pack

Yeonji left her clan to seek out honour and glory. Even when she's far from home, it's the one constant, her reason why. Her clanmate Kotone, like a mother to her, gifted Yeonji a greataxe with little duck tape wrapped around the handle. She gets scarily excited when allowed to perform her signature Ducky Axe Smash, as it allows her to reminicise about the simpler times back home with Kotone.
Living in the wild has had it's ups and downs, but it has taught Yeonji one thing at least. Violence is the answer to almost everything. But maybe one day she'll lose herself in her rage. Luckily, her friends Soomin and Hyerin will be there to snap her out of it.

Joobin:

Class: Druid

Race: Human

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Strength: +1
Dexterity: +0
Constitution: +2
Intelligence: +1
Wisdom: +3
Charisma: -1

Health: 10

Perception: +5

Armour: 13

Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, Medicine, Perception, Religion

Features: Discovery, Wild Shape

Inventory: a handaxe, a shield, leather armour, a tree branch staff, an explorer's pack, a herbalist kit, a case of discovery notes

Joobin used to live a normal life in the city, until she became a hermit. This was, in hindsight, an overblown reaction to an unreciprocated crush on her high-ranking friend. Spiraling, she sent herself into isolation in the woods and befriended the animals there. Until one day, she made a discovery that forced Joobin to reconvene with her friend.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night, she disappears into the forest to construct mysterious circles. No one knows their true purpose, not even Seoah. Her voice is rusty from not having spoken to anyone for so long, so she prefers to express her affection through physical contact, namely shifting into a cute little chick to get head pats and snuggles.

Seoah:

Class: Rogue

Race: Human

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Strength: -1
Dexterity: +4
Constitution: +2
Intelligence: +3
Wisdom: +0
Charisma: +2

Health: 10

Perception: +2

Armour: 14

Skill Proficiencies: Deception, History, Perception, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, Stealth

Features: Expertise, Position of Privilige, Sneak Attack

Inventory: two daggers, a rapier, a shortsword, leather armour, thieves' tools, a burglar's pack, a signet ring with the crest of House Park, a scroll declaring her nobility to be used when necessary

When her best friend left her, Seoah became vulnerable. She slipped out each night disguised to mingle with the common folk in the alleys, away from House Park, where no one knew who she was. Beginning to feel disillusioned with her nobility, Seoah began to pickpocket the rich and give the coins to beggars she would see on her family's visits to town.
When Joobin came back with an important discovery, Seoah was understandably upset. She had been gone with no contact for years. But her proposition was just too good to turn down. She begrudgingly accepted, and they slowly began to reconcile. On her journey, Seoah plans to prove that she can handle herself without her family's coddling, and show that even nobility can be kind, considering herself an equal with common folk.
