Work Text:

The night was a silent, calm night with off and on thunder and lots of rain. At Malrose Avenue, England a little girl was born to an Asian-American family at the hospital's outpatients. That little girl's name was Risa. Skip 15 years and its now her first day of year 10. Risa has no friends, no best friends, no enemies, nothing. No one has enough info to bully her with, so she isn't bullied. She sits down at her desk and sets down her school book, getting her Alton Towers pen and green pen out of her pockets, which also contain her phone and other things needed for school and day to day life. She sits down at the desk and looks at the board. Mr Ashbrooke hasn't put the work up yet. All of a sudden, someone approaches her. Risa has no idea who this is, so they must be new. This new student has long beautiful dark blue hair with a yellow star hair clip on top of it. They also are wearing a light blue jacket and no tie (which is against the school's uniform rules.) They are also wearing nerdy cute glasses that fit them well, a silver nostril piercing, golden earrings on their ear lobes and the top of their ear. They are wearing black, baggy uniform trousers and Converse trainers (which are also against the rules, but it seems that they have a pass as Risa saw the same person walk past the head of year ,Misses Alicen, and not get told off.) They reach their arm out to Risa for a handshake.
“Hi!” They say. Their voice is very deep but beautiful. “The names Yvette!”
“N-nice to meet you Yvette.” Risa exclaims, she's quite nervous as she doesn't talk to people often. She finally reaches out to Yvettes' already out arm and shakes their hand. “Sorry if this is rude” Risa says “But what are your pronouns? I don't want to make you feel weird or anything.”
“They/Them. I'm non-binary.” Yvette answers.
“Oh, cool. No judgement. I use She/Her and I'm a girl.”
“Cool. Can I sit here?” Yvette asks
“Of course, no one sits here anyways.”
“How come?” They ask
“I…” Risa pauses, embarrassed. “I don't really have any friends.”
Yvette looks at her with sympathy.
“Well… You do now. Count me as your friend!” They say, kindly.
Mr Ashbrooke turns to the board and turns it on. “The work is now on the board. Do your work or detention.”
Risa quickly does the starter. “T-thanks, Yves.” Risa whispers, a nickname slipping out on accident. Yvette blushes a little at the nickname and smiles at it. It reminds them of their favourite singer, who is also called Yves.
