Work Text:
The Organisation had found a way to make their members stronger.
The procedure was simple. Take the blood of a deceased vampire, feed it to a human and suddenly they had the endurance and strength to take on the supernatural.
Only the most trusted members got access to this privilege.
Abolish had been destined for the process for a long time.
As wavers were signed, warnings declared solemnly and a vial of black blood passed towards Abolish, he did not think much about what could go wrong. He was a tactical man, he’d already run every calculation through his mind and concluded he was safe.
As the substance slid down his throat and reached his stomach his eyes widened. He’d been told about the magic that would hit him, he’d thought he was ready for the loyalty that consumed his bones and the devotion that would swamp his mind.
He wasn’t. He absolutely wasn’t.
“Abolish? Abolish! Hey!”
Fingers snapped in front of his face, but all Abolish could do was a slow blink. There had been an error… the vampire, the creature that should have been deceased was… alive.
Abolish knew it with every fibre of his being. He could sense what direction they were in, he could tell how far away they were from each other.
He swallowed. “The vampire…” He managed to say. “What did you say his name was?”
“Goldsmith. Scott Goldsmith.” The doctor frowned.
Abolish hummed swaying a little before realising he should pull himself together. He straightened and forced his eyes to focus on the room.
His sire… he was asleep. The magic that had carved Abolish out of what he’d used to be and replaced it with only what served his master swirled. He knew deep down that it should be dragging him under, he should’ve forgone the need to breath and given his all to the depths of the spell. But he didn’t… because Scott was asleep. Scott had not given him a command, Scott wanted nothing from him and so he was in limbo.
“I think I need a moment to recover.” He declared.
The doctor nodded clearly seeing that his words were true. “We have a bed available for you, the nurses will monitor your vitals for a couple days then you should be free to return to work.”
Abolish nodded sliding his eyes to meet the humans. “Work… yes. I can’t be kept from it.”
“We know. Once you’ve stabilised you can go back to your room.”
Stable. Abolish had to pretend he was stable.

The mission Abolish was sent on to Oakhurst brought him closer than ever to his sire. He’d lived for years with the burning need to serve under his skin. He’d gotten good at hiding it, he practiced each day on weaponry training, he studied and he filed reports on the monsters he killed.
He’d gained the Organisation’s full trust, no one suspected him, not even his fellow thralls who felt nothing like he did, because their procedures had been done properly, they had no one to attend to… but Abolish did.
His sire was over the hill, past the crumbling castle he’d scouted out and within the crypt he didn’t dare enter. The vampire’s pull on him was stronger than ever thanks to their proximity. Abolish grit his teeth and ignored the ache of his jaw. He would meet his sire soon, he just needed to finish his preparations with a clear mind.
The town was full of confused newcomers. Everyone hailed from different lands, some with curses, others with dark pasts and the rest searching for a community to belong to.
Abolish yearned for nothing, that had been taken from him long ago. His only desire was to be of use to his sire, his goal had always been to wake him.
Scott Goldsmith was put to sleep by magic. No one at the Organisation found it odd that Abolish obsessively learnt what he could on him. After years of gathering resources, Abolish finally had everything he needed for Scott’s awakening ritual. The last step was meeting the humans who would inevitably interrupt him. He needed to know their weaknesses, he needed to strike true when his time called for it.
Mouths moved, words were traded and suddenly-
He was awake.
Abolish’s eyes widened, he had not felt his sire’s power before, he’d read about it, ignored the implications of Goldsmith’s reign when all he could think about was how lucky he was that he belonged to the strongest creature in existence.
A hand waved in front of his face, it was an unfortunately common occurrence where others had to pull him back to the present.
He blinked and passed Legundo a reassuring smile, the man was frowning, the light he’d pulled out to pass over Abolish’s eyes still hovered unused in his hand. Cleo was behind him, her expression grim as she sensed what no one else could.
Interesting… Abolish had never met someone who knew what he was.
His sire, he was getting closer.
Giddiness filled Abolish up, he’d never felt such anticipation and joy before.
Scott’s presence approached the town, Abolish wanted to look at him so badly, he wanted the star that dragged him into its orbit to know he was all his, but there were people in front of him, watching him and he would never do anything to harm his sire.
“Hello.” A foreign voice greeted. Abolish could listen to that voice for hours, he wanted to drink it in, he wanted to bask in it.
Eyes turned to his sire so Abolish allowed himself to do the same.
There he was.
A smile spread over Abolish’s face, the world faded away from him, all he could see was his purpose in front of him.
Blue eyes met his and falling had never felt so good. Abolish didn’t know where he was, or what his name could be, all he knew was he needed to be closer to his sire, he needed to please him.
“Abolish.” Scott smiled. Nothing in the mortal world could ever compare to Abolish’s bliss. “I haven’t seen you in ages! Come here!”
An order! Abolish’s first order!
He dutifully obliged and his sire wrapped an arm around him. There were people nearby he remembered idly, there was an audience to fool.
His sire did a wonderful job fooling them, he weaved a story and everything Abolish did now or forevermore could be explained away.
“If you could give us a moment to reconnect.” Scott asked.
Everyone nodded letting him guide Abolish away.
“My darling thrall~” Those words sent a thrill up Abolish’s spine. “I don’t know how I came to possess you but I sense we will have a lot of fun together.”
Abolish couldn’t agree more.
