Work Text:

Since the two moved in together, they have sought to divide the chores evenly. Their compromise, after too many fights, was that they’d rotate whatever needed to be done each week. It wasn’t the best system, but hey, for a couple that moved in only three months ago, they think that they gave a pretty good solution.

And there weren't really too many fights after that. Except well, when either had to do something they really despised doing. Which, for today in Oikawa’s home, meant doing the laundry.

He whined as he realised that it was his turn. Due to some… prior events, there were too many clothes. It would take him twice the amount of time as usual. Plus, Oikawa had already made plans to see Iwaizumi. The man would kill him if he came late again, especially when Oikawa planned it.

“C’mon Tobio, don’t you see I’ll be in trouble if I don’t arrive in time? It’s gonna take hours!” Oikawa said, dragging the last word.

Kageyama stared from where he was messaging Hinata.

“Better get started soon.”

“Tobio!”

“What? We already agreed that we won’t cover for each other unless it’s an emergency.”

“But this is an emergency!”

Oikawa plopped down on the couch Kageyama was currently seated on.

“Don’t you see that Iwa will kill me!” he exclaimed.

Kageyama rolled his eyes.

|YOU|

I’ll be back in a few minutes

He sent the message as he told Oikawa that he wouldn’t let Iwaizumi do that.

Oikawa sighed and leaned his head on Kageyama’s shoulders.

“Usually I’d call you adorable for that but right now you’re acting like a little shit.”

“You’ve called me adorable for less.”

“Stop acting like such a smartass and start acting more like the loving boyfriend who should understand that his amazing, beautiful, talented boyfriend might die from strangulation in an alleyway of Tokyo by his best friend all because he showed up late.”

Kageyama looked at Oikawa with a “are you seriously saying that with a straight face right now” expression.

“Please, look—” Oikawa said, grabbing Kageyama’s hands with his, “I love you, y’know.”

Kageyama sighed.

He let go of Oikawa’s hands and turned around. Oikawa almost started to cheer until he saw what Kageyama was holding.

“Stop saying ‘I love you’ to get out of doing chores. This is the exact reason why we made that agreement,” he said, shoving the laundry basket to his boyfriend.

Oikawa stared at him, slightly shocked at this interaction.

Kageyama got up and left to go to the bedroom.

“Are you serious?” Oikawa asked, standing up.

“Yeah. Have fun.”

“Tobio!”

No response.

Oikawa sighed. He pulled out his phone.

Ring!

Ri-

“Bad news Iwa. We might need to reschedule dinner. For like an hour, two at worst.”

He heard a sigh from the other side.

“At least you told me in advance. But what happened, everything’s alright?”

“Yeah. It’s just—" he let out a fake chuckle, "so funny story, actually…”

Oikawa heard a laugh after explaining the events that transpired. He frowned.

“You’re such an idiot sometimes. Pay attention the next time this happens.”

“Can’t believe you really tried that with Kageyama.”

“Listen, I was scared for a moment, okay? What if you were actually some kind of evil entity and killed me because this version of you takes your threats seriously?”

“My only advice for that is to stop binging those weird alien movies. Do you hear yourself?”

Oikawa huffed.

“Well, anyways, see ya later Iwa, wish me luck!”

“Yeah, whatever. Bye ‘Kawa.”

After he hung up, Oikawa poked his head out from where he was doing laundry.

“You sure you don’t want to help Tobio? Two heads are better than one, right?” he called out.

“I’m pretty sure my talented boyfriend can do this by himself,” Kageyama called back.

‘It was worth a shot,’ Oikawa thought.
