"how are you doing, beautiful?"
you shift your head weakly, blearily blinking up at your boyfriend. you watch as the blond kneels by your bedside. his hair is done up in a messy bun, stray hands dangling down his neck. he tucks a bang behind his ear, scarlet eyes observing you. his eyebrows furrow, concern etched into his face. outside, rain downpouring as background noise.
turning your face into the pillow you give a muffled sigh. "could be worse."
Kaveh hums low in his throat, extending ahand to brush your hair away from your temple. you still press your face into the pillow, trying to will the aches away with wishful thinking.you hear clothes ruffling for a moment, the floorboards creaking under the architect's feet, before the other side of the bed dips with his weight.
he gently wraps you up in his arms, bringing you close. your back presses against his chest, the warmth seeping into your form. you move your head to lightly tuck yourhead under his chin. one hand slides underneath your loose top, the pads of his fingertips skimming your skin. up along your side before they go back down to rest on the small of your waist. his thumb swipes across, back and forth, in a comforting manner.
"do you need anything? water? medicine?" Kaveh whispers against your hair, nuzzling to better smell the scent of your favorite shampoo. he frequently liked to pull you close, burying his nose into your hair, neck, chest, wherever. your scent brought him at ease. if he could, he'd surround himself in the aroma of you, his home.
you pause, smiling. you cover his hand with your own, tracing his knuckles. you trace a light scratch across the back of his hand, featherlight. you feel his fingers twitch at the gesture and your smile widens. "no, thank you. i just need you."
Kaveh puffs a laugh, sidling a bit lower to kiss the back of your exposed neck. you giggle at the ticklish feeling, intertwining your fingers in his. "then you have me."
you didn't even remember falling asleep. you groan softly, fisting the sheets beneath you as you groggily open your eyes. the soft rays of the fading sun spread out acriss your room's walls. the ache that was so persistent earlier has dulled. you can still feel it in the pit of your stomach and the stutter in your ribcage, but it was a lot more tolerable now.
blinking away remnants of sleep, you hear slowed breathing by your ear. you inhale deeply, turning in your boyfriend's hold to face him. you wiggle, attempting to move back a little to get a better look at him. a huff stops you, along with his tightening grip. you suppress a chuckle, settling with your nose touching his. the messy bun is undone, blond splayed across the pillows like sunshine through leaves. soft lips parted as he exhales periodically exited. pretty eyelshes lowered, glowing in the sun's dying light. the rain must've stopped while the two of you were sleeping.
Kaveh looked so at peace. it warmed your heart to see him like this.
when the two of you had first met, you already had heard of his story. people liked to gossip, which irritated you enough. his story wasn't for others to tell nor let others judge. it was saddening, and you felt a pang of empathy towards his person. no one deserved to suffer like he had. no one deserved to feel as he did everyday.
you met Kaveh through Cyno, a dear childhood friend lf yours. your first thought upon meeting the architect was how gorgeous he is. he gave you a polite smile, head tilted as he gave you his name. you were to busy admiring his features to register the act you were to introduce yourself as well. embarrassed, you didand shool his outstretched hand. palm so warm against yours.
you asked to se his designs, since that was his career. just some conversation. you always admired architecture. Kaveh seemed surprised at first, looking off to the side. he told you a good majority of them had been scrapped, deemed not good enough (by himself, he was his number one critique after all, you came to notice). you still wanted to see anyway. hesitantly, he had Mehrak (a total cute, may you add. it was incredible to know Kaveh had created it himself, he never believed he was truly talented) show you a flickered copy of a building design.
your eyes widened, walking slow circles around the design. there was so many details to catch, all the intricasies complimenting each other. it wasn't overboard. it wasn't underdone. the arches had a welcoming vibe to it and made you want to enter to explore.
you were genuinely at a loss of words. the building was absolutely astonishing. you were certain it would be just as breathtaking in person. Kaveh watched you, curiosity sparkling in your eyes. time had staye still for him. your gaze flitted to his and he couldn't breathe. you were glowing and that excited smile…simply because of his own designs. something he created with his heart before those lingering doubts crept in…
"i love it," you said, maintaining eye contact. "i hope you never stop."
Kaveh fell hard that day.
your fingertips reach out to touch his cheek, cupping it to rub his cheekbone. another heavy exhale as his eyes flutter open. Kaveh smiles instantly when his gaze focuses on you. gentle with drowsiness at the edges. he leans in and his lips are on yours. you hum against him, curling your fingers behind his ear. your boyfriend shivers, heat burning at the tip of his ear.
after pulling away you say, "you're so cute, you know that?"
Kaveh worries his bottom lip with his teeth, forcing back a goofy smile you know and love whenever you compliment him or praise him. your thumb smoothes his bottom lip and he releases it from his gnawing. a light blush dusts his face.
"and you're mesmerizing," Kaveh mumbles, nose bumping against yors affectionately. "can't believe you're mine…"
you laugh, feeling your cheeks warm at his words. "aw, don't get sappy on me now."
a sound of exasperation and he hides his face in your neck. Kaveh's breaths make your skin tingle. you hug him close, clinging to him. his legs tangle with youes as he kisses your neck. your face in his hair, kissing the crown of his head.
"i love you."
a shuddered breath. "i love you too. i hope you feel better soon."
the last of rain rolls down the window. "i already do."
