Chapter Text

8:31 A.M

I really wish I could take work off today, but I’ve gotta make a living somehow. At least I’m the only mouth I have to feed now. Rest in peace Mrs. Andrews.

I wonder if that’s how my dad thought about working at Freddy’s.

I just can’t stop thinking about it, damnit! I’m gonna be antsy all freaking day!

Part of me is worried that the building isn’t even there anymore. It should be, there’s plenty of sources and pictures online. I guess I’m just paranoid that it’ll get torn down while I’m at work. Irrational fears suck.

Whatever. Just keep your head on your shoulders, Coppie. You’ll be exactly where you don’t want to be before you know it.

6:16 P.M

What did I tell you? It was over before it even began.

…Okay, maybe not the best thing to say when starting my investigation.

Sure enough, the building is still here. Though, it honestly doesn’t look like it’ll be standing much longer. There’s more cracks in the walls than in the parking lot. You can hardly tell this was even Freddy’s at some point. The sign’s been torn to shreds, and the one out on the road is knocked down. The only tell is the outline of Freddy waving on both.

I did a little more digging while at work. Turns out, the main reason no one ever demolished this place is because no one wanted the property it’s sitting on. Which is fair, I guess. It’s pretty far out of town, and not even along the main highway. There’s really not much else out this way but Freddy’s.

No one wanted to refurbish it, no one wanted to take it down. Really, no one wants to touch this place with a ten foot pole. Again, don’t blame them. It’s not a pretty sight out here. There’s vines and crap hanging from every angle, and graffiti sprayed everywhere. Kinda sad, considering what this joint used to be.

At this point I’m writing in here just to stall actually going in. Nothing’s stopping me, there’s plenty of broken windows, and I knew to bring a bolt cutter for the lock. But I just…I don’t know what I’ll find in there. I don’t know if I want to know what I’ll find in there. That building is the last place my dad was ever seen. He never left it, not even in a body bag or anything. What the hell could be in there that caused that to happen?

But I can’t chicken out now. I’m not letting some creepy old robots stop me from finding him, or at least finding out what happened. I’m going in. Right now.

So stop writing in the fucking book, Coppelia.

6:52 P.M

The inside is more depressing than the outside. You can tell this has become the hangout for an…unsavory crowd. There’s trash everywhere, more graffiti inside than out, and even a few needles on the floor. Thankfully, I seem to be alone tonight.

There’s plenty of holes in the ceiling, but even they do little to help light up this place. It’s dark as hell. My flashlight can only illuminate so much.

Illuminate. My dad would have made fun of me for writing that.

Seems this place was well and truly gutted at some point. The only table in the dining room is broken down the middle. There’s no arcade machines, decorations on the wall, or even any of those scary animatronics. There’s some parts left strewn about in the hallway to the bathrooms, but there’s not much there either. Just a few bolts, wires, and some hands and feet on the floor.

You can tell where there used to be posters and pizza cutouts on the wall. There’s dust over every surface, but it's thinner in the outlines of those old things. I bet they fetched a pretty penny as souvenirs. No wonder they got snatched up.

Just like outside, there isn’t much left that would indicate this used to be Freddy’s. Just whatever bits of tiled wall and floor that isn’t covered by spray paint and garbage.

The bathrooms are boarded up and the kitchen’s locked, but I honestly doubt I’d find what I’m looking for in either of those places. I don’t think my dad died on the toilet, and I frankly don’t wanna know how many rats are hiding in the kitchen.

This place is organized in such a weird way. There’s two hallways leading the same way from the dining area, with a manager's office crammed right in between them. That room’s locked too, but I’m gonna fix that. The halls both lead to another office at the back. A security office, by the looks of it. Gonna go check it out.

7:15 P.M

The office isn’t too bad. It’s probably the least tarnished area of the building. Are all the hobos who break in too lazy to walk back here? Then again, the double hallways are pretty intimidating, even with a flashlight. Personally, I’d still rather face the halls than risk sitting on something long and sharp in the dining room.

There’s still not much in here. Just a desk, a phone, and an old camera monitor. Looking at the map on it, the managers office and a room at the back of the bathroom hall isn’t part of the syst

Why is there power to this?

I can still see through all the cameras on this tablet. Well, not the kitchen, that one’s broken I guess, but still, how is there power to this thing? The phone still has a light on it too. There’s no way someone still works here. Is there a generator or something? There’s buttons on the sides of the doorways too.

JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE HELL

Why would this place need heavy metal blast doors like that in the security office??? That could easily crush somebody.

The lights are nice at least, though something tells me they’re on the same circuit. I can’t turn them both on at the same time, turning one on turns the other off. I guess they blew their budget on the freaking nuclear fallout shelter doors.

Okay, I’m gonna set the book down for a second and do a bit more snooping.

8:09 P.M

Okay, so there is a generator in here. It's in the back of a room to the left of the stage. It’s still chugging away, though, by the sounds of it she doesn’t have much gas left. I tried to get the lights working in the breaker, but only a few turned on. Really just the ones in the security office and janitors closet.

I did actually find one last poster on the wall that no one else snagged. It’s of Freddy, waving with his mouth open with text above him saying “LET’S PARTY!” Yeah, no thanks. That is the least partyable bear I think I’ve ever seen.

He looks different from how I remembered him as a kid, though. A bit more round and less square. I dunno, it’s been ages since I’ve seen anything Freddy related. Still not inviting him to my birthday anytime soon.

I’ve tried busting down the door to the manager’s office, but god damn, did they install this with tungsten or something? I feel like I have to be careful with everything else in this place, it all looks so fragile, but this door is impenetrable. I’ve tried shoulder bashing it, kicking it, running into it, I’ve even tried to jerry-rig my bolt cutters into the lock to try and snap it off. It just won’t open.

Guess that explains why they don’t need a camera in there. No one is breaking in that room. I’m gonna try looking around for a key, but with how much other stuff has been stolen from here, my hopes aren’t high. I’ve looked everywhere but that other room that doesn’t have a camera. The one by the bathrooms.

Standing in front of it now, it looks like it was boarded up at one point too. Some planks are still hanging by its side. If I don’t find anything, I’ll have to remember to bring a crowbar when I come here next. Where would you even buy one of those?

11:34 P.M

Okay, I think I’m going to call it a night. I wasn’t sure what I would find here, but it sure as hell wasn’t nothing. The other room wasn’t very interesting either. It had a few empty shelves and old boxes, but no key or anything. There was a huge brown stain on the floor, though. Here I was thinking the bathrooms would be gross.

Though, while I was searching, I had an epiphany that I feel dumb for not realizing sooner. The reason everything is gone in here is because of that horror attraction that was supposed to open last year. Fazbear’s Frights, I think. It was gonna be this huge centerpiece in the town fair, they had posters up everywhere and ads in the newspaper.

I don’t know what the city council was smoking when they greenlit that place. Everybody hated the idea, myself included. My dad went missing at Freddy’s, right in this building, and no one gave a damn after all he did for that place. I don’t remember why everyone else was mad, though. I kinda distanced myself from it all once I found out. It just made me too pissed off to focus on it.

They gloated about how much original stuff they took from the old pizzeria. Something about making it authentic. I remember hearing about how much it got burned in that place’s fire. The fire department said it was because of faulty equipment in there that caused the blaze. Looking at this place now, I actually kinda believe it. But I still think it was arson. With how up in arms just about everyone was about that place, it had to be.

I hate how the first mystery I solved isn’t even a mystery, or even relevant to why I’m here. I honestly don’t care that all the posters and decorations are gone from here. I’m glad, if I’m honest. The one poster at the end of the hall is creepy enough. I keep looking back there, thinking Freddy is watching me.

It’s late, I’m tired, and I’m starting to freak myself out. It’s best I head home and get some sleep before some junkie barges in here and asks what I’m doing in their crack den or something.

Back in my car now. I can’t stop looking at the building. It’s way creepier after the sun’s gone down.

Don’t think you can scare me off that easily, Freddy. I’m coming back tomorrow with a vengeance.

Until I find out what happened to dad, I’ll always come back.
