The Boy at Her Window

Summary:

Under the quiet glow of moonlight, Boruto comes to check on Sarada.

What starts as concern slowly turns into something much softer.

P.S:Set after the recent TBV chapter because the Sakura and Sarada moment made me emotional 😭
I needed Boruto to check on her immediately

Notes:

Hey, it's my first ever fic, so there may be some mistakes here and there, so go a little easy on me 😅
Anyways, enjoy ☺️

Work Text:

The room lay silent under the glow of moonlight pouring through the window.

Outside, the night was still while moonlight rested softly on the floor as midnight approached.

She was lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling, absentmindedly.

Her mind drifted to her mangekyou and the damage it left on her eye, and the damage it will further cause if she doesn't stop using it or at least if she doesn't use it a little smartly to ensure she doesn't go blind before even using it that much.

Still, she can't just stop using it; her power is important for the safety of the village, her friends, her family, and Boruto.

Thinking about him made her heart thump.

Her mother had explained the mangekyou and its drawbacks.

She had made it clear she wasn't going to stop her from using the mangekyou because it wasn't her place to, which was ironic because she's literally her mother.

She had told her she trusted her and her dad, and that was enough.

She had already gotten used to people talking all kinds of trash about their family.

It comforts her to know that her mother supports her and does not look down upon her for supporting Boruto.

She had been lying, thinking about this for a while now, and suddenly she heard a tap-tap sound coming from her window, which caused her to bolt upright.

"Huh!! Who's there!!" Said Sarada.

"Sarada! It's me!" A sound came from behind the window.

Her eyes widened.

"Boruto! You scared me!" Sarada sighed in relief.

She hurried to slide the window open and let him in.

"Boruto, what are you doing here?"

She asked him after he had jumped from her window into her room, the moonlight shining in his blue eyes, his blond hair was slightly damp due to the night air.For a brief second, Boruto’s face blurred in her vision before sharpening again.

"Sarada! Are you okay!?"

"You scared me!" He said with an expression of profound worry.

She chuckled after looking at his worried expression, and her heart was doing things she clearly didn't like.

"I'm okay, don't worry, idiot," She said with a smile.

Instantly, Boruto's expression softened to a degree that was only possible with her.

"Okay, if you say so."

Sarada looked at him with her onyx eyes, and Boruto found himself blushing.

"Well, I came to see how you were and also to warn you."

Sarada's eyes sharpened instantly.

"Warn about what?" She said with a serious expression.

"About Code," Boruto continued with a very serious expression.

"Sarada, his goal is to kill me, but he can't actually do that because he's not on my level."

"So to take revenge, he's now trying to target you to get back at me, but it's okay because I will protect you, Sarada."

"You don't need to worry, Stupid Boruto."

" I can handle myself."

"I know you can, but I will still protect you."

"Fine, you dummy," she said with a resigned sigh and a sweet smile.

"I can't stop you from protecting me anyway."

Sarada laughed.

"Yeah, exactly," said Boruto with a light laugh.

"Here," he said while handing her an uzumaki crest-shaped pin.

"What's this?"

"A pin."

"I will be able to teleport to you whenever you are in danger," he said while handing it to her.

She took the uzumaki crest-shaped small pin and examined it with her hands.

"Okay."

"Thanks, Bolt," said Sarada with a smile.

"No, I should be the one thanking you, Sara," he said with a smile while taking her hand in his and stroking the back of her hand with his thumb.

"If it weren't for you sending master sasuke to rescue me, I, I wouldn't be here right now." There was something painfully sincere in his eyes.

"Idiot," that was the only thing she could say while her eyes filled with tears.

Boruto wiped her eyes with an extremely soft and gentle touch, as if he was afraid even a slight touch would break her.

"Hey! Don't cry, Sarada!

"I'm not crying, idiot."

Suddenly, she was enveloped in a heartwarming hug by Boruto. She could feel his scent and his hard chest underneath her hands.

Damn, she was blushing heavily.

"Sarada, get yourself together," she scolded herself in her mind, not wanting him to see that traitorous blush on her face.

She was certainly sure she looked like a tomato now.

"Aww, Sarada, are you blushing?" Boruto teased her.

"Shut up, Boruto, you are blushing too."

She said with an annoyed expression, which was being replaced by a smile despite herself.

"Fair," he said while giggling.

Some time had passed.

Boruto separated himself from her slowly.

As if being separated from her was killing him.

"Hey, so I should probably get going now, but watch out for that jerk code, even though I won't let him get near you."

"You don't need to worry."

"I know, Boruto."

"Keep that pin with you all the time, and please be careful about your mangekyou."

"I'm gonna have to answer Master Sasuke if you go blind," he said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, sure, Boruto," she said while laughing.

"Alright, goodbye, Sarada."

"Goodbye, Bolt."

Boruto jumped out the window and into the endless night.

"Huhh," she sighed.

This encounter with him left her feeling giddy inside and made her long for the next one. Hopefully, she gets to see him again soon.
