Work Text:

CHAN 🐺

With a wolf hybrid, you feel truly safe and sound.

Chan is always by your side, whether you work or rest, his presence a quiet, calming anchor.

He isn’t the most talkative and prefers listening over venting.

Rescued from an abusive owner and placed in a shelter, he spent years learning how to build walls and not trust humans, so you never push.

You can feel that he tries. His effort to let you in is visible through the subtlest things. Like how he continually shares his blanket, tucking it around you with careful touches, or shyly thanks you for keeping him around, his gaze downcast.

A sign that he thinks he’s a chore for you.

During nights when the moon is full and his old wounds begin to bleed all over again, he sneaks out of the house, his steps soundless against the ground. Chan crawls onto a hill, his sobs wrecking through his body.

He once confessed that he isn’t fond of his ‘nature’, his animal instincts a stain on his conscience.

But with so much hurt inside him, he lets himself howl, his throat straining from the exertion.

Despite trying his hardest to return unnoticed, you’re already waiting for him with chamomile tea and a warm cloth. You coax him into letting you take care of him, washing away the tears and dirt from his fur. Chan seeks your touch the most when he’s vulnerable – his nose nuzzles the pulse point on your wrist, his tail wrapping around your leg.

You bring him to your bed, smoothing away his worry lines with a gentle forehead kiss. He stays curled against your side; a barely audible, sleepy murmur of your name slips from his lips.

Like he needs you even in his dreams.

MINHO 🐈

You have no time for boredom with a cat hybrid.

In fact, you don’t have time for anything.

Minho, seemingly independent and introverted, is glued to you behind closed doors.

His tail flickers impatiently behind him whenever you’re doing anything other than paying attention to him.

After running away from neglectful owners who didn’t even remember to feed him once a day, he becomes very determined to make himself the center of your world.

«Just so you won’t forget about me,» he jokes, but his ears betray him, flattening against his head. He pretends to clean them, subtly tilting the tips upward.

Minho is very patient and soft when he isn’t overcome by sudden spikes of mischief and the desire to test your stress tolerance.

He loves to teach you – dancing, cooking, how to scratch him ‘right’. He is very good at all of the above except the last one.

He was embarrassed to tell you at first, but he has a very sensitive nature. His whiskers pick up on the scents, mood shifts, and temperature changes. So your touch can easily overload his senses, which sometimes leads him to be unintentionally cranky.

He returns quietly, nudges you apologetically with his head and purrs instead of spitting it out.

Minho isn’t good with words, but the way his body melts against you is more than enough proof that he has long since chosen you to be his human.

CHANGBIN 🐻

You have no regrets adopting a bear hybrid.

Your family and friends tried to subtly talk you out of having such a ‘handful’ and ‘demanding’ hybrid, but you’re so glad you didn’t listen to them.

There is something about Changbin you noticed from the moment you first met him. Something unexpectedly gentlemanlike in the way he greeted you, in the way he said your name.

Like he was asking for a chance to say it every day.

Used to shrinking himself down, Changbin always prioritizes your needs before his own, being mindful of how he moves and acts around you.

Like he’s afraid his size and strength might become suffocating.

Though you don’t let his insecurities get to him. «Changbin-ah, taste this,» or «Wanna help me choose the best scented candle?» you invite him into the most mundane tasks, reminding him that his presence matters to you.

He loves making you feel special. He says it’s because you make him feel that way, but you’re convinced he’s simply a romantic.

Changbin wanders off during walks and returns with a small bouquet of wildflowers, or presses his lips to your knuckles when he thinks you’re too engrossed in your book.

He gives you compliments because he means them.

And you mean it when you tell him he doesn’t take up space, he creates it.

HYUNJIN 🦦🥟

You feel freer with a ferret hybrid.

Hyunjin’s energy is like a breath of fresh air amidst the stillness of everyday life.

Soon after adoption, he realizes that you see the world in black and white. It doesn’t scare him away.

He starts painting.

Landscapes, flowers, portraits of you. Gradually, he adds color to your home.

His restless nature drives him to try more and more hobbies – dancing, pottery, photography, swimming, crocheting.

You try your best to provide him with everything his heart desires. But on your birthday, when he sees you walk away from the bag you had dreamed about, something changes in his demeanor.

Hyunjin no longer makes frantic, impulsive decisions. His art becomes intentional.

He makes you that bag himself, stitching every thread and pearl by hand. He takes you dancing in the open fields instead of sitting through another restrictive, detached class. He keeps the vases and pods that aren’t ‘good enough' instead of throwing them away like he usually would.

«I get carried away sometimes...but if there’s one thing I won’t forgive myself for taking for granted – it’s you.» he confesses when he thinks you’re asleep, his arms secure around your waist as he shields you from the rest of the world.

The next morning, you wake to him peppering your face with energetic, sweet kisses and holding a plush ferret with a collar that reads «love you in every color in the world.»

JISUNG 🦫🐿️

Having a quokka hybrid is so much different from what you initially thought.

Jisung, despite being small and adorable in his animal form, is the cheekiest brat. Both literally and figuratively.

He acts cute to distract you from another torn pillow or broken mug, letting you squish him to your heart’s content just to stay out of trouble.

You pretend not to notice the mess in the kitchen after his attempts to reach the cabinet with snacks.

He denies it’s his fault, though.

Jisung is, quite frankly, clumsy by nature. And it’s surely not his fault that you smell so good, to the point where he has to rip apart fabric carrying your scent and bring it to his self-made nest.

Jisung is also very, very excited at all times. His lithe body fails to contain so much joy, trembling from sugar or his favorite song playing on the radio.

And his laugh is your favorite sound. It has a whole range of pitches depending on how funny something is. When Jisung needs something, it’s a little too high, making his voice crack; when the situation is truly hilarious, it turns low and rich, like a small thunder of pure mirth in his chest.

When he’s scared, he needs you in his nest. And he’s a real scaredy-cat. Whether it’s a blackout caused by bad weather or a scary story he willingly listened to.

Cuddles seem to calm him easily, each gentle caress turning him into a puddle of submissiveness.

«I won’t do it again,» he promises oh so softly into the crook of your neck, his fingers curling through the holes in your favorite sweater like he can fix them through sheer will.

«I believe you,» you sigh quietly, both of you knowing damn well he will do it again.

But honestly, you can’t even pretend to be upset with him.

FELIX 🐥🕊️

Your lovebird hybrid takes the word ‘love’ seriously.

Felix is a sweetheart with angelic vocals and wings.

He notices how hard it is for you to get out of bed in the mornings, so instead of the annoying alarm, his gentle voice wakes you up.

He is a chirpy talker, always eager to tell you the juiciest gossip he heard from magpies and starlings or ramble about the silly dreams he had the night before.

Felix is not embarrassed to act silly just to make you laugh.

«Your smile is so pretty,» he would sing-song affectionately, pecking your dimple.

He also tries his best to take you out of your comfort zone without overwhelming you. He wants to help, and he really does. You feel more comfortable in your skin and in public with him by your side, or perched on his spot (your shoulder) in his animal form.

His nurturing instincts drive him to take care of you. Felix feels full just by feeding you; his own body relaxing as he works out the tight knots in your shoulders.

Coming from a big household, he craves touch twenty-four seven. Felix doesn’t like being alone, so he constantly comes up with activities for you to spend more time together.

He makes even the quiet days feel domestic and cozy, and his love is like your own personal sun that can never fizzle out.

SEUNGMIN 🐶

Even in his early days, your puppy hybrid was different.

You noticed him first among the litter. How could you not?

He was the only one wandering away from the rest, his nose twitching with curiosity as he investigated the unfamiliar scents around him.

«He’s a real stray kid,» the owner joked warmly, but your smile wasn’t amused.

It was adoring.

Seungmin loves solving problems, whether mathematical or ‘practical’. Like figuring out where you hid his treats or how to convince you to skip training.

Though despite acting up, he never takes his teasing far enough to disappoint you.

The one time you called him a ‘bad boy’ after he tried to hunt down a flock of ducks, getting himself drenched and covered in mud, hurt him deeper than he was willing to admit.

When he isn’t in the mood for socializing, he prefers staying in his animal form.

His tail sways gently as he reads, glasses sitting low on his nose. «Staying inside is the best,» he admits, casting an uninterested glance toward the window.

«I thought with you I’d finally start spending more time outside.»

He looks up at you, deadpan.

«You’re bothering my tea time.»

You chuckle, sighing in exasperation but giving in.

Teatime is sacred, after all.

JEONGIN 🦊

Having a fox hybrid is highly underrated.

You realize that the moment you get to witness Jeongin’s fiery duality.

At first, he was very shy in an endearing way, his cheeks matching his bright red fur every time you showed him even the slightest bit of affection.

But once he got attached, his behavior did a complete one-eighty.

Jeongin is actually very possessive.

He follows you around the house while pretending he doesn’t. He quite literally sticks his nose into your food or laptop screen out of habit.

He even asked you to order him a matching t-shirt from an online store because it «looked comfy».

When you return from work, his jaw clenches imperceptibly as he picks up on the unfamiliar scent clinging to your coat.

«I was just about to do laundry,» he lies, his nose scrunching in poorly concealed disdain.

He can never act nonchalant around you.

Jeongin hates being lied to, and he is bad at lying himself. When you find him on the windowsill, all tense shoulders and unmoving ears, you can tell he’s upset.

«Jeongin-ah, is everything okay?»

He nods silently, not even trying to use his words. You take a seat beside him, leaving your palm open as reassurance you know he needs but won’t ask for.

«I can tell something is bothering you. Tell me, please?»

He hesitates, slowly reaching for contact, and when his fingers brush against your skin, he all but clutches at your hand.

«You won’t replace me, right..?»

«Jeongin...»

«Promise me you won’t.»

You scoot closer, bringing his hand to your cheek and nuzzling his white knuckles softly.

«Look at me, I promise.»

He meets your gaze, his eyes shimmering under the moonlight, looking more vulnerable than he has ever allowed himself to be.

«You’re mine, right?» he asks in a hushed voice, immediately flushing a shameful red before hiding his face in your chest. «Don’t answer that.»

You can’t help but smile softly, cradling the back of his head, pressing a gentle kiss to his ear. It flutters at your touch, just like his heart against your side.

«I’m yours,» you whisper, and you mean it.
