Chapter Text
Have you ever regretted something?! Like really regretted something? Well because Percy has. A lot. Starting with being born, being a demigod, becoming a war hero. Whatever he had regretted before suddenly felt small in comparison.
Here he was standing in front of a crowd of hundreds of demigod; in nothing but swimming trunks. Getting introduced to them like a cattle. Yeah, that will certainly do it.
His week started off average. Attending college in camp Jupiter. When he was approached by Hazel; shy smile on her face, and nervous hands.
“Hey Hazel” Percy called out to her.
“Hey Percy, looking great” she replied a small smile replacing her shy one.
“Yeah, just you know taking it easy and working on school” he continued. The easiness of small talk between two friends filled the air. Soon enough he found himself at a near by coffee shop chatting up a storm with her. (no pun intended) Not too soon after silence filled the air; all signs of this pointing to Hazel awkward shuffling.
“Umm…” Percy paused. “Is everything alright, you’ve been very quiet today Hazel. You know you can tell me anything”
He meant that part especially. Hazel was one of his closest friends, Percy would hope she felt comfortable enough to let out whatever on her mind.
“Well it’s just…” she was immediately cut off by a familiar voice.
“Hey Hazel, Percy” Piper says approaching the table waving wildly at them “so did you ask him?”
“Ask me what?” Percy asked before Hazel could even articulate a reply.
“Did she Ask if you would participate in the ‘where is my husband fund raiser’”
“The what?” He was confused. Very confused.
“The where my husband Fund raiser” Hazel answered this time. Percy just stared at her blankly. This was his first time hearing about the fund raiser.
“Some of my sibling and a few other camper
From both camps put it together. It’s like date auction. It’s to help raise money, so the year rounder can go on field trips during the fall and spring.” Piper finished; pushing her way into the booth next to Hazel. Immediately picking up one of the menus.
”That’s why I came here” Hazel murmured. “Not enough guys signed up for it; we’re lacking participants for us to continue. So we thought maybe you know… sign up for it?”
“Can’t the Gods just fund it?” He dared to ask
“Percy, you know better than the rest of us; that’s not happening” Piper relaxed back into the booth. “So will you do it? You’ll be the most wanted man of the night. Trust me”
Percy just signed.
Which is how he found himself here 5 weeks later. Confused, embarrassed and honored??? (He didn’t realize he was this much of a heartthrob)
“Hey dude” Leo laughed as Percy walked off stage after the introduction “Looking great”
“Thanks man” he replied sarcastically. “Didn’t know you’d be here tonight”
“Seriously? You’d think I’d miss this? All of us are here. Piper and Hazel as you know. But Jason, Annabeth, even Nico is here” Leo grinned was so wide; you’d think it’d fall right off his face.
“You’re joking right!?” Nico coming all this way to see his humiliation? Yeah. Sounds about right.
“Nope” Leo said making sure to pop the P. “Now don’t just stand around pretty boy, Piper waiting for you in your dressing room”
“Right…” Percy trailed off, waving Leo off as he made his way to the dressing room.
All the boys that had signed up all shared one dressing room. Which Percy was fine with sharing, but Piper insisted that he needed his own. Something about being the main attraction, brings unwanted attention. Something Percy could agree with, even still he definitely didn’t need a whole dressing room to himself.
“Hey” Percy greeted her, once he enter the room
“Where have you been?” Piper rushes over to him, pulling him towards the large mirror.
“I have been waiting forever for you to get here” she says fiddling with his hair, until it was exactly how she wanted it to be.
“Sorry,” he coughed awkwardly “I got distracted talking Leo”
“Ok. Hold still” she said directing him into the position she wanted. After a moment past she step back to admire her work. “Perfect. You look so hot. The girls and gays are going to love it.”
“What the jocks won’t?”
“Oh they will too, trust me” Piper said “stay here, I’ll call you out when I’m ready”
As soon as the door shut behind her Percy collapsed onto the couch. A groan instantly leaning his mouth. He hadn’t realized how tired he was; not until he felt his body basically melt onto the couch. A couple minutes later there was a loud knock on the door.
“Come in” Percy shouted; feeling way too lazy to get up and open it himself. The door cracked open slight before fully opening. In walk Jason as tall and handsome as always.
“Hey, great to see you man” Jason beamed.
“Yeah, you too” Percy grinned back, getting up to hug Jason. “How have you been man, haven’t heard for you in two weeks”
“Yeah sorry about that” Jason rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “Been so busy, I barely have enough time to eat or sleep”
“Nah dude I get it” Percy was thrilled to see Jason. It had been a month since they’ve hung out and, two weeks since they last talked. Almost instantly his eyes locked onto something “Woah man have you been working out?”
Percy without thinking grabbed at Jason bicep. Resulting in Jason giving him a weird look. (Not disgusted, just confused maybe? possibly a little curious) Percy face quickly covered itself with a blush.
“The temples going well then huh?” Percy said dropping his hand quickly. Looking at everything but Jason in the eyes.
“Absolutely man” Jason said taking a seat on the couch, Percy promptly following. About an hour later Jason said his goodbyes and Percy walked him out. Before once again collapsing on the couch.
He woke up with a startle. Someone was banging on the door. He glanced at the clock. Shit. He must’ve fallen asleep. Piper was going to be so mad. Scratch that. By the sounds of the knocks, she already was.
Percy shot up off the couch, and essentially (accidentally) ripping the door off the handles. Oops.
“Percy” Piper glowered at him. Percy stepped back slightly, an angry Piper isn’t a fun Piper.
“Sorry,” Percy exclaimed, “it was an accident I swear”
She rolled her eyes. Grabbing on tightly to his arm, she practically dragged him from his dressing room to the stage. Angrily patting down his trucks, and hair until she liked it. Percy made sure to stand as still as he could.
“I own you one pipes” he said trying to swallow down the lump in his throat from her glare. HEY. In his defense Piper was really scary when she’s mad.
“You better remember it too” she said, pushing him forward onto the stage steps. He peered into the crowd from beside the curtains, watching them bid on the boy in front of him. He was a good looking dude, shaggy cut brown hair, brown eyes, great jawline, awesome abs…WOAH
Woah woah woah. He might have gotta carried away. He only meant it as a compliment. Dude to dude ok??! No, other reason.
“Sold for a 1000$ to number 11” the auctioneer basically shouted into the mic. “Congratulations to you, and your hot date”
Glancing around Percy started to Apprehensively rub his hands together. He was up next, and he surely wasn’t going to upstage that guy. I mean come on, he’s just Percy after all.
“Now. It’s time for our final participant. The most wanted man of the night. The reason most of you are here. PERCY JACKSON” the auctioneer promptly screeched his name into the mic.
As soon as he came into view the crowd instantly went crazy. He awkwardly waved to them, as he made his way to the middle of the stage. Another moment of applause later, the crowd finally went silence.
“Now. I know many of you want him. But you can’t all have him. So let’s start the bid at.. $100” $100??? Percy certainly wasn’t worth that much, was he? He quickly spotted Annabeth in the crowd. She grinned at him like a maniac.
“200$” she shouted, it almost looked like she was about to laugh. Percy rolled his eyes; of course she was finding enjoyment out of this. Standing right next to her was the rest of his friends. Nico was scowling but he could tell by the look in his eyes. He was also very much enjoying Percy mortification.
Before he knew it the crowd was bursting with bids. $200 quickly made its way to $1000. Percy would have love to tell them to stop. That he wasn’t worth that much. But it was for the kids.. the campers. As far as Percy was concerned they deserved all the money they could get.
“10k on Jackson” Hermes cheered into the crowd. Wait. HERMES???
Percy head snapped to him. Where he was met only with a grin and laugh. What the hell was he doing. Now don’t get him wrong. He didn’t dislike Hermes. He was definitely one of the better gods, but he will still one of them. Gods caused trouble, especially the God of mischief.
“15k and my hair brush.” right-away he recognized the voice as no other than Aphrodite. Jesus Christ. This is going to be a disaster.
Sooner than later the bid made its way up to 100k and a magic whip??! Don’t ask. This was seriously getting out of hand.
“One million dollars and an exclusive ride on the sun chariot” a voice rang out from the crowd; all heads snapping towards it. There stood Apollo himself. Wearing a very short (way too short in Percy opinion) white toga. Long blonde hair flowing in the wind. (Don’t ask where the wind was coming from, he has no idea)
The silence that followed was miraculous. It went from 100 to 0 very quickly.
“SOLD” the auctioneer yelled, voice so much louder in the quiet room.
His eyes met with Annabeth in the crowd. By the look on her face, he could tell she was thinking the same thing. What the Fuck. A date with Apollo? What the FUCK.
“Congratulations to Lord Apollo. Thank you all for support of this fund raiser. Hope you all found your husbands”
Percy groaned. Where the hell was his husband? Wife. He meant wife…
