Chapter Text

“Ela!!”

Ava ran into the crowded classroom as Ela turned around, likely holding Theo’s things.

Ela gasped, meeting Ava halfway and hugging them the best they could with Theo’s notebooks and novel in their arms.

“You got back from testing?” Ela asked, pulling back and motioning for Joell to come over, who was holding Theo’s purse. Ava quickly nodded, a smiling coming to their face.

Remembering something, Joell suddenly picked up two small pieces of blue fabric from the table next to them, handing them to Ava with a smile.

“Rian said these were for you! She wouldn’t shut up about it.” He said as Ava took them, inspecting them with curiosity. They were little blue pieces of fabric with lighter blue details and small Harry Potter characters on them.

Or, in other words, the bookmarks Ava had asked Theo for.

“Oh, great!” Ava quickly placed them in their purse, just as the taller person walked over, placing their cloak over their head.

“Hey Theo!” Ava greeted, allowing themself to be pulled into a hug by the person cosplaying a vampire. “Hello again , Ava!” They replied, pulling back and rubbing the shorter person on the head.

Joell started talking to Theo shortly after that, Asher coming over and joining those two.

Leaving Ava with Ela.

Ava turned to the other person, smiling at them.

“Hi.”

“Hi.”

They stared at each other for another moment, before Theo was usher them along so they could go to their next class together.

“Oh, is Bri here? Raven made a bracelet for them.” Ava asked, walking alongside Ela. The other seemed almost like they were holding something back.

Theo shook her head, standing by the door for the other three to walk in first. “No, we went into Ms. Ndebvu’s to see if the two of you were in there. I was worried neither of you were there, but Ela there told me you were at least here.”

Ava nodded, silently cheering as they saw the sub sitting at Ms. Jackson’s desk. Together, the four of them (Ava, Ela, Theo, and Joell) went over to the corner by the bookshelf. Asher sat a few desks away, almost immediately pulling out his phone.

While they sat their stuff at the four desks, Joell went over and sat on the ground in front of the mirror with his bone dragon and phone. Ela soon followed, so Ava did as well, the two of them sitting with their backs to the bookshelf. Hesitantly, Theo joined them, sitting with her back to the desks. She was talking to Joell, since he had just called her ‘Rian’, rather than Theo.

“I haven’t told you my chosen name yet?”
“No? What is it?”
“It’s Theo, Theo Moon.”
“Hmm, Theo, okay!”

Ava smiled at them, before turning their attention to Ela. They were leaning against their side, already pulling out their own phone.

“I’ve got an edit to work on.” They mumbled to Ava, opening Capcut and pressing on the edit they were talking about.
Ava nodded, before looking over at Theo. They weren’t pulling out their own phone, and Ava tilted their head at her.

Seeing this, Theo groaned, glancing behind her at Taveyon. “Unloyal asshole. He saw me with it and immediately started talking, so of course the other kids got on me too. As if he doesn’t do worse shit." They grumbled, glaring at the kid sitting back with Zyaire.

“I don’t tell on his stupid stuff..” Theo mumbled, mostly to herself, before standing and reaching for her water bottle on the closest desk.

Which promptly fell, red water spilling out of it from an unscrewed cap.

Theo stumbled back, staring wide-eyed at the mess, before quickly scooping up her bottle and rushing over to the door, going to get paper towels.

Ela looked over at the mess, Joell stifling a laugh. Ashton hardly looked up from his phone.

“Seems she spilled her blood.” Joell joked, returning his gaze to his phone. Ava looked over at him, confused, which he caught when he glanced back up. “Oh, she’s a vampire. She’s been blood drinking from her water bottle.”

“Cow blood, if you must know.”

The three of them jumped as Theo’s voice cut through. The taller girl was bent down, wiping up the red with brown paper towels. Noticing she didn’t have nearly enough, though, she stood back up, running out to get some more.

“They said they had to go hunting last night for it.” Ela chimed in, looking up from their edit. Ava noticed the scene they were putting the words over, raising an eyebrow.

“Angst? On a fluff edit?” Ava questioned, earning a half-hearted eye roll from their partner.

“It’s literally just 0.8 seconds of it, it’ll be fine.” They protested, Theo suddenly walking back into the room with a handful of paper towels.

“Theo! Does angst belong in an edit??” Ava immediately questioned the vampire, sitting up straighter to talk to them. They immediately looked up, confused.

“It’s the one I showed you earlier, Theo.” Ela butted in, sitting up as well. Hearing that, the confusion in the girl’s face faded, and she shrugged. “Yeah.”

Ava grumbled, shaking their head and leaning back again, pulling out their own phone. This was gonna be quite a long block.
