Notes:

hello & welcome to my new book. i had this idea in my mind and i couldn't stop myself from starting to write it. but well, i'm sure this a story worth telling, so enjoy. <3

IMPORTANT
TRIGGER WARNINGS:
- depression
- suicidal thoughts
- drug use (alcohol, cigarettes & marijuana)
- emotional distress, angst
- insomnia

this is a very emotional story. i tried to make it lighter with some humor.
nothing (characters, story etc) is in any way related to bts.
this story is purely for entertainment purposes.

main characters are min yoongi, kim taehyung & jeon jungkook.
ship is TAEKOOK though. don't expect some kind of threesome romance in here.
also not the story if you're looking for lots of smut.

but this definitely is the story if you like to cry a lot and if you love the trope found family and best friends to lovers. it has a lot of fun, humor but also a looooot of painnnn and deep moments <3
hope u enjoy & please leave some comments and tell me what you think!

Chapter Text

It was another Friday night. Yoongi sat outside on his balcony even though it was way past midnight. The night was beautiful, the sky full of bright stars with no clouds hiding them. Sadly, Yoongi couldn't find the beauty in all this. His mind was occupied with worry and a burning headache that made it hard to think. He hoped the whiskey would help at least these two things. Even though it wouldn't solve his problems, it would at least make them go away for a little while.
He glanced at his phone, it showed 03:33am. Shit, he sighed. Another fail at going to sleep earlier. Angel number, Taehyung and Jungkook would say out of one mouth now.
As he put the whiskey down on the little table by his side, he grabbed his pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the table. One last cigarette, then he'd finally go to bed.
Or so, he told himself.

It was Friday. Others his age would be out partying right now. He was 27, he had some good years left. But was it really the noise he missed? Or wouldn't even the most crowded place change a thing?

Suddenly his phone lightened up. It was the goddamn group-chat.

Taehyung: are you awake??

Yoongi: no. its 3am

Taehyung: so u ARE awake

Jungkook: you shouldnt have replied yoongi im so sorry

Yoongi: what are you two doing at 3am in the morning?? go to bed. please

Jungkook: tae wants to go to the store. i tried to stop him

Taehyung: we're going. get ready xx

Yoongi: its the middle of the night. everything is closed. and i dont want to go to the fucking store. goodnight

Jungkook: we found this 24 hour open shop..

Yoongi: jungkook you need to stop supporting this kind of bullshit

Yoongi didn't get another message. He sighed relieved, maybe these two airheads found another thing to keep themselves busy with instead of going to a store at 3am. Sometimes Yoongi really wondered why he kept being friends with them, they were so annoying.
He let his gaze wander across the sky once again. What if he could simply fly away? Would that make it all feel a little easier?
Not disappear. Not die either. Just to be somewhere else. Far away from where his thoughts could follow him.

He put out his cigarette and gulped down the rest of his whiskey. Then he got up from the little sofa. He had gotten this sofa five years ago, when he first rented this apartment. Sitting out here on the red sofa was the most he felt at home in this lived-down apartment. The rest of this place was shit and worth the small amount of money Yoongi paid for it.
The boy made his way back inside and put the glass down in his sink. The plates were piling up, there was still some spaghetti from three days ago in a pot. Yoongi couldn't care less.
He was about to make his way into the one separate room he had, his bedroom. Even though he probably wouldn't sleep anytime close, it had gotten a little cold outside, so the bed was the more comfortable option to exist in.

The bell rang.
Yoongi stopped in his steps and turned around slowly, "No fucking way", he grumbled to himself and then headed towards the door.
He ripped it open just to find a Jungkook with big eyes in front of him. "Look, I tried-"
Then Jungkook got pushed to the side and Taehyung entered the apartment, pushing past Yoongi as well. He was wearing sunglasses, a big leather jacket and crocs. "What did you smoke-", Yoongi looked not surprised, but curious.

"We're here to save you from dying of boredom", Taehyung explained as he looked around the room. He noticed the mess, but he was looking for something to put on Yoongi instead of his pajamas.
"Actually, sleeping isn't that boring in the middle of the night", Yoongi hummed, still not impressed by that creative idea.

"You can sleep when you're dead", Taehyung joked and then grabbed Yoongi's arms, "Let's fucking go!"

Jungkook looked helpless, still in the doorframe.
Yoongi gave the younger one a quick glance as he shook his head at Taehyung.
"I have no reason to go to the store right now", Yoongi crossed his arms. He was so not up for this.

Taehyung raised his eyebrow, "That's a lie", he said and then headed over to Yoongi's fridge. He pulled it open, it was empty. There were just a few bottles of alcohol and pizza from yesterday in it. "See, you should go to a store. You can't even have breakfast", Taehyung said. The discussion was won in his opinion.
Jungkook walked over to Taehyung, "Maybe we should let him sleep and then all three of us can go in the morning", he was still trying to save Yoongi's peace.
"Since when are you not on my side?", Taehyung scoffed at Jungkook. Yoongi smirked, he loved it when Taehyung got put down to earth by Jungkook.

"Since you already woke me up at 3am for this and now you try to pull another innocent being into this", Jungkook said and tilted his head, "Is it not enough to annoy me? You need another one to stress out?"

Taehyung looked confused, "I don't stress you out", he shrugged. "That's such a lie", he then shook his head and grabbed Jungkook's shoulder, "But I can start stressing you out", he then winked and slapped Jungkook's ass.
The younger jumped at the unexpected slap. Yoongi had to laugh at that.

"So no one wants to go to the store with me", Taehyung finally realized and pouted at the other two. "No one here loves me."
Jungkook's eyes went big. "Well.." He couldn't finish his sentence because Taehyung gave him a disappointed look. "What kind of best friends are you two?"

"The best ones you could find", he smiled. "We can have a drink or two, I'm not going out though." Even though being alone with his mind was the thing he should probably be doing right now, the idea to have a few drinks with his two best friends appealed a lot more to Yoongi. He had planned to be on his own tonight, but that didn't mean that he wanted to.

Taehyung rolled his eyes, gave up and then walked back to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of wine. "Let's fucking go", he said, less excited than earlier, but still a little excited. Jungkook followed him mindlessly and Yoongi as well.
When they sat outside, Taehyung started rolling a joint and looked at the stars. "Fine. It's more romantic like this anyways."

"I can't feel much romance here", Yoongi hummed, looking back up at the stars as well. They were still as bright as they were half an hour earlier.
"That's because you don't want to love anything", Jungkook said quietly. He looked at the moon, "It's lovely out here", he agreed with Taehyung now and earned a big smile from the elder. Taehyung let his hand rest on Jungkook's thigh as they all watched the sky.

"I sat out here for the past three hours", Yoongi hummed. "Maybe the romance is gone by now for me."

Taehyung looked at him for a while, then pulled his sunglasses off, eyes still on Yoongi.
"You sat out here for three hours? On your own?"

The eldest nodded. "It's lovely out here", he repeated Jungkook's words.
"It is", Jungkook agreed again with the vibe and gave Yoongi an understanding look. How many nights had Jungkook already spent looking at the stars? Always wishing to see a shooting star. To make this one wish. Yet he never saw one.

"What were you doing then?", Taehyung asked curiously, a little worry written all over his face.

"I just sat here, had a few drinks and listened to music."
The music was a lie. He sat here in silence with his thoughts and had forgotten about the time. It was supposed to be one drink and two or three cigarettes, not five drinks and not a whole pack of cigarettes.

Taehyung blew out the smoke as he leaned back, "Sounds fun", it didn't sound too bad in his head to sit out here and listen to music the whole time.
Maybe that was something that Jungkook and him could do when one of them couldn't fall asleep the next time. It was better than ordering three times the amount of food they needed and then eating it until they fell into a food coma. That's how they usually solved insomnia.

"It is", Yoongi said and took the joint from Taehyung, inhaling the smoke himself.

"I thought you stopped", Jungkook commented on that, looking at Yoongi in surprise.

"I stopped the stopping", Yoongi smirked and breathed deeply.

Taehyung chuckled, "Finally!"
But Jungkook couldn't really smile about that. He wordlessly took the joint from Yoongi and inhaled.
Somehow he had this heavy feeling in his gut. Like they really should have been here all evening and not spent it without Yoongi. He seemed sad, he seemed careless.
Well, Yoongi always had this sadness surrounding him that made Jungkook want to crawl into the elder's arms and hug him until he would feel better. But that sadness was something they got used to over the years.
That was the thing with pain. If it stayed long enough, it became normal.

Taehyung saw Jungkook's concerned look and gave him a soft squeeze to his thigh.
"I think it is time to go to the store!", he smoked the little bit left and then put it out. "I think we need snacks. Let's go!"
He gave Jungkook a begging glare that made Jungkook understand.

"Actually, I'm hungry anyways", Jungkook smiled and then got up. Taehyung followed and Yoongi decided not to argue anymore. He felt that there was a different kind of urgency in Taehyung's wish to go to the store now.

The three of them walked out of the apartment and headed down the old stairs until they left the house.
As they headed along the streets, Taehyung already had another idea.

"What are you doing tomorrow?", Taehyung then asked Yoongi.

"Nothing", the elder replied, "It's the weekend. I need to sleep so I can put up with the next week."

"I see", Taehyung smiled, "Then you meet us at 10am tomorrow at the train station. Jungkook and I had this idea-, you should come."

Yoongi immediately and quickly shook his head, "No."

"What idea?", Jungkook asked curiously. They had a lot of ideas every day. It was hard to guess which one Taehyung was thinking of.

"Surprise", Taehyung said, "For both of you then!"

Jungkook and Yoongi looked at each other.
That sounded like a bad idea.

"I'm in!", Jungkook smiled brightly. There was nothing in this world that Taehyung could want to do, that Jungkook would not follow through with him.
"Of course you are", Yoongi rolled his eyes, "I'm out!", he said with the same excitement Jungkook earlier did.

"No you're not!", Taehyung beamed back.
And somehow Yoongi felt a little lighter around the chest. Joking around with these dorks would always do something to his stone-cold heart.
Maybe he should join their little trip? What was the worst that could happen?

Then he remembered how he bailed them out of jail three months ago. On christmas eve.
Then he remembered how Taehyung broke his leg the last time he had a surprise for Yoongi and Jungkook.
Then he remembered how his notes app on his phone had a whole page just for counting how many times Taehyung had gotten himself punched by strangers.
Then he remembered how Jungkook had suffered every single consequence Taehyung's actions ever had.

And then he shook his head again.
He was out.

"One minute rule", Taehyung called out, "You didn't deny my request in time. You're coming."

"There's no one minute rule", Yoongi raised one eyebrow.

"Oh but there is", Jungkook whispered, thinking to himself how many times that one minute rule had fucked him over. "You're coming, you have no chance against Taehyung", Jungkook explained to Yoongi. He knew the elder's fate already. Because he shared the same.

"Exactly. As Kookie says." Taehyung was proud. He won.

Yoongi laughed, "Yeah, as Kookie says.."
He looked from one to the other and then finally gave in.
"Let's fucking go", Yoongi said.

"But first... to the store!", Jungkook said excitedly as they stopped in front of a 24 hour store.
