Mother’s Day was coming up and many of the families were celebrating with new family members.

While Noah and Rafael were making dinner, Avery sat with her two younger siblings.
“Okay you two. We have to do something really really important.”
“What?” Everleigh says.
“We have to do something for Mother’s Day.”
“I made a craft at school. It has fwoers.”
“Can I see it?”
Everleigh goes to get her craft. It was cut out flowers in a vase.
“Oh cool.”
“Avee wat day?”
“Mother’s Day. It’s a day we celebrate Mommy.”
Leo claps.
“Oh and Abuela.” Avery continues.
“Lala!”
“Yeah so we gotta do something for both of them. But especially Mommy.”
“Okay!” The two younger siblings say.
“We have to give Mommy a perfect Mother’s Day.” Avery says.

On the day of, the family gathered in the living room.
“Okay kids, does everyone have their presents for Mamí?” Rafael says.
All the kids nod.
“Okay Liv, we decided that we would go in age order. Well for the most part. Avery wanted to go last.”
“Okay. That means you’re first Leo.” Olivia says.
Leo gives Olivia a bag. She pulls out a fluffy blanket.
“Leo insisted you need your own blanket.”
“Soft!” He says.
Olivia feels the blanket, it was soft and fuzzy.
“I love it sweet boy. Thank you so much.”
“Hug?”
“Of course.”
Olivia hugs her youngest son.
“Me next!” Everleigh says.
Everleigh gives Olivia a bag. She pulls out two very sparkly earrings.
“Oh Everleigh these are beautiful.”
“Mama, they sparkle like you!”
“Oh thank you sweet girl.”
“I also made you fwoers.” She says as she gives Olivia her craft.
“I love them. Thank you.”
Everleigh hugs Olivia tightly.
“Your turn mijo.” Rafael says.
“Papí and I actually did our gift together.” Noah says.
Noah hands Olivia an envelope. She pulls out three front row tickets to Every Brilliant Thing.
“Oh you two this is too much.”
“Nonsense.” Rafael says.
“They say the lead actress for when we’re going looks just like me.”
“That’s so cool. I hope you like it Mom.” Noah says.
“I do. Okay Avery sweet girl, it’s your turn.” Olivia says.
“I-I.”
Avery starts to cry.
“Sweet girl, what's wrong?”
“Your present is supposed to be perfect but it’s not.”
“Can I see it? I bet I’ll love it.”
Avery sniffles and hands Olivia a rolled up paper. Olivia unfurls it and looks at it.
“Oh Avery, this is beautiful. Did you draw this?”
“You like it?”
“Of course I do, sweet girl. You drew us together. It’s perfect.”
Avery hugs Olivia tightly and Olivia kisses her head.
“My Mother’s Day is perfect and you know why? Because I have all of you.”
“Happy Mother’s Day Mommy.”
“Happy Mother’s Day Olivia.”
