The Unlearnable Virtue

Summary:

I don’t know about Zuko because he’s a bit weird and soft, but that’s okay. You said it’s a gift. I can see it now.

~Jet, age 8, There's You All Over Me

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

You said it's a gift,
the way he is soft and kind;
I can see it now.

A gift, the way he's
naif and raw; giving and good.
Tender in heart, and

gentle by the hand.
Open and unfortified—
in his mind, he's safe.

I envy it now:
the gift of his Innocence;
my stolen birthright.

Notes:

This is a gift dedicated to milkyeyeball's wonderfully immersive slow burn Jetko "There's You All Over Me." A haiku quartet inspired by one of the lines in chapter 9.
