Chapter Text
Excuse me?" My eyes clenched shut, before a hand touched my shoulder and shook me gently, "Excuse me? You should probably be in your room if you're this tired, it can't be healthy or look good on your file to be sleeping on a bench."
I sat up, blinking blearily in confusion. Standing in front of me was a girl with lavender hair, wearing a dress with a tie, a hoodie over it, and a pair of glasses.
"Who… Are you?" I said, the chill in the air finally sinking in. Where was I? Hadn't, hadn't I just helped beat Kronos?
"Me? I'm Mash Kyrielight, what's your name?"
"Percy Jackson," I said, taking her hand and shaking it., "Where are we?"
I stopped dead as I looked around. Outside the window was the worst blizzard I had ever seen, not to mention I didn't recognize the building, with its circular hall.
"Are you alright?" Mash asked, worry in her voice, "Do you need Doctor Romani?
"I- sure," I said, looking down. I still had my beads, one for every year I had spent at Camp Halfblood, but was wearing a puffy white jacket trying, and failing, to keep the cold out.
We walked down the halls together, during which I reached into my pocket and felt for Riptide. It was still there, good. I didn't know how much help it would be if these were humans, but if they were monsters or demigods, it would be a huge advantage.
We finally stopped in front of a door, and Mash typed in a code to unlock it before it slid open… Which caused a yelp to occur as a redheaded man quickly hid a strawberry parfait behind his back, tense, only to sigh as he seemed to realize who it was, "Mash, don't scare me like that! What do you need?"
"Percy," Mash gestured to me, and I raised a hand in greeting, "Needs to be checked over. I found him asleep on one of the benches and he seems confused."
"Ok," The man, who must be Roman, said, before scarfing down his parfait, "let's head back to my office."
We did so, my eyes searching the area as I did; just long, circular hallways connected by strategically placed smaller hallways. I wondered what Annabeth would think of this place.
"So, uh, where are we?" I asked, and Mash and Roman both looked at me strangely.
"You don't know where we are?" Roman asked.
"I just… The first thing I remember about this place is Mash waking me up."
"That's… Weird, Chaldea's clearance levels start at what most people would consider high. Maybe the weather is doing something? Where were you last you remember?"
I started to say "Olympus", before quickly swapping to "New York."
"That…" Roman frowned, "really is weird."
"Where am I now?" I asked, glancing out another window to the blizzard raging outside.
" Antarctica," Mash said, and I felt my pulse speed up, and my grip on Riptide grew tighter.
"Let's get you checked out," Roman said, "then we can start worrying."
—
Romani Archaman picked up a needle, turning to Percy, "Ok, I'm gonna take some blood, check for any drugs in your system, is that alright?"
"Uh, it's not really possible," Percy rubbed the back of his head, before rolling up his sleeve, "It's easier if I just show you."
Roman noticed Percy's arm. It was slim, clearly muscled, but otherwise unremarkable. He tied the rubber band around Percy's arm, found a good vein, and went to gently insert the needle.
It was like hitting pure stone, the needle stopping dead. Roman tried to apply a bit more pressure. Then a bit more. And a bit more. Finally, it felt like he was shoving the thin needle against Percy's skin only to make no progress.
"An enchantment?" Roman asked.
"Curse of Achilles," Percy gave a sort of grimace, "And yes, I do mean that Achilles. And no offense, but I'm not gonna tell someone I just met my weak spot."
"Completely fair," Roman said, throwing away the now very blunted needle as his mind raced. The Curse of Achilles? How was it possible to pass such a thing on? It couldn't be through a Magic Crest, that would require a surgery that would be impossible, "I'm going to scan your body for Magic Circuits. This might feel a bit weird."
"What are-?" Before Percy could finish the question, the scan took place, finding no circuits. What it did find, seemed to be magical energy pumping through his body with each heart beat, a glowing spot over his heart. Roman, fully aware he was breaking patient confidentiality, sent the results to Da Vinci-Chan for a second opinion.
"Percy," Roman asked, keeping calm as to not agitate Percy, "Do you remember anything about your parents?"
"Yeah, my mom's name is Sal-"
"Are either of them supernatural, by any chance?" It seemed insane, impossible, but the results before his eyes didn't lie, Percy Jackson didn't have Mana Circuits, just a core generating mana.
"Uh, yeah, my Dad. How'd you guess?"
"Who is he?" Roman asked.
"Uh, Poseidon?"
Roman stopped, mind whirling a million miles a minute, "Poseidon? As in, god of the sea Poseidon?"
How, a Divine Spirit shouldn't be able to survive on the texture long enough to-
"You're sure? You're absolutely certain?" Roman asked.
"Yeah?"
"Percy," Roman said quietly, "You can't tell anyone else that. It has to be a secret. Can you do that?"
"Sure, I only told you because the Curse of Achilles gave away I'm not normal."
Not normal he said, like being the first full fledged demigod in God knew how long wasn't the biggest sign.
"Mash!" Roman called, and Mash stepped into the room, "Can you show Percy to his room before you head down to mission control? He's a bit sick, definitely not enough to go on a mission."
