It was an average Thursday night in the Katseye household. Dinner was finished, plates were cleaned and everyone was just chilling on the couch. Thursdays had become their chosen “game night” where each week one girl would choose a game for all of them to play. Today was Yoonchae's turn to pick. She picked brawl stars.
Brawl stars was a game that Megan and Yoonchae were pros at, aiming at 30k trophies each. Lara and Dani followed behind at around 18k trophies and then Manon and Sophia only had 3k trophies between them. Brawl stars was also a game that they played as a group of 6 very rarely. Usually, Megan and Yoonchae spend a lot of time playing together, Lara follows behind as she thinks she will beat Megan’s trophies one day, Dani only plays when Lara forces her to and both Manon and Sophia forget the game is downloaded on their phones.
Each girl gathered in the living room one by one, bringing snacks and drinks for everyone to eat. Yoonchae called for all of them to bring their phones with them into the room, since this is a mobile game and not a computer-based one. When everyone was settled and had their games up and ready, they loaded their mains (characters) which were:
Lara playing as Amber
Megan playing as Emz
Dani playing as Bibi
Sophia playing as Shelly
Yoonchae playing as Mandy
Manon playing as Pam - she was forced to as she didn’t know how to change characters and the other girls wouldn’t tell her.
Yoonchae had also decided for them to play Duo Showdown instead of trios, which just means there is an extra team for them to defeat. The Duos were decided instantly: Megan and Yoonchae, Lara and Manon, Dani and Sophia. Each girl invites the other onto their team and they ready up immediately
Before the round has even started, Megan turns to Lara and says “i bet you cant kill me, not even once” to which Lara replies “bring it” and starts to lock in. Both manon and sophia look at each other worriedly, scared that this game will end worse than they think.
The game takes its sweet damn time to ready up even though there is only one more team needed. as soon as they are placed into the map, sophia turns to dani and goes “wait! How do you play again? "Dani just shakes her head as the other girls look up at her. Sophia didn’t know this yet but Manon was suffering through the same question, she just didn’t have the courage to ask yet.
The opening credits end and immediately Megan and Yoonchae have ripped open the first three boxes surrounded around them and have collected the power cubes. Sophia and Manon are still struggling with figuring out how to play but both Lara & Dani seem to be helping them. The girls had forgotten but both Sophia & Manon have only played Gem Grab together, not Showdown.
Dani & Lara give a quick explanation to their girlfriends, mostly Dani though, since Lara was locked in but by the time everything was explained and questions were asked, Lara had just finished opening up the third box for her & Manon. And Megan & Yoonchae had just killed one of the other teams.
But since it was only Dani explaining how to play the game, Manon had zoned out since it was not Lara’s voice explaining and she still had no clue how to play. She was creepily looking over to Lara’s screen and trying to figure out the controls that way and now she thinks she knows what to do.
Now that Manon knows how to make her character walk and to aim her weapons, she follows Lara easily and tries to defeat another box for them. Megan & Yoonchae have now killed the last random team and are coming for Dani & Sophia.
Dani screams once she realises what is happening and Sophia is now oblivious to how the game works and walks towards both Megan & Yoonchae, saying “hi” and telling Dani to follow her. Dani refuses and tells her to run the other way, which she does, but it was too late, ending up with her getting killed by Yoonchae.
Sophia gasped, and Megan & Yoonchae high-five, giggling throughout.
Dani is still running whilst the teammate death countdown decreases, she finds a bush far away from Megan & Yoonchae and hides in there until Sophia spawns back in the game.
Across the room, Lara got distracted by Manon's screams and was not locked in anymore.
“MANON WHAT ARE YOU DOING” she screamed back.
“MY HEALTH KEEPS GOING DOWN IM SO CONFUSED” manon says louder than usual
“YOURE IN THE GAS GIRL GET OUT OH MY GOD” lara says, heart palpitating.
“HOW DO I RUN???” Manon screams now.
Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Megan & Yoonchae appear and come up right behind Lara. Megan turns on her supercharge, which is a massive purple circle that will decrease anyone’s health if they step on it. So obviously, Megan stands right next to Lara, and turns it on, so there is genuinely no way for Lara to get out without being killed.
The teammate death countdown now gets turned on, on Manon's screen but she’s still in the gas.
“MANON RUN NOW” lara shouts
“LARA! HOW DO I RUN? HOW. DO. I. RUN?.” Manon shouts back.
“MOVE THE BLUE CIRCLE MANON. DO IT NOW” lara says and manon is still confused.
“WHAT BLUE CIRCLE?”
“ON THE SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN MANON!!!” Lara says loudly but under her breath she is going, “we’re gonna die, we’re gonna die, we’re gonna die…”
“OHHHH!! FOUND IT!” Manon says quieter.
Manon walks out of the gas and is left on 1000, but at the last second the health deprecates again, and she dies. leaving just Megan, Yoonchae, Dani & Sophia left. Lara grunts loudly, she gets up and leaves the room to take a breather.
On the 4 girls screen, “SHOWDOWN” shows up in big letters, telling them they are the last two teams left. Both teams are on opposite sides of the map but Sophia suggests that they both walk over to the middle and meet each other there. Dani tells her to just stay where she is (in the bush still).
Mischievously, Yoonchae looks over to Sophia’s screen and sees where she is and then she whispers to Megan their new plan of killing Sodani. The last minute countdown is also now showing on the screen so Yoonchae knows she has to be quick.
Yoonchae turns on her hypercharge which makes her damage dealt higher than usual and her supercharge now shows three arrows instead of just one. She presses down on her supercharge to aim whilst she looks at Sophia’s screen again and lets go when she’s in the correct position.
Both Sophia and Dani are wiped out instantly, barely any time to think of what to do. The ending screen now shows up for all the girls;
Megan & Yoonchae: +12 trophies
Sophia & Dani: +6 trophies
Lara & Manon: +2 trophies
Dani screams really loudly “I DIDN’T EVEN SEE THAT” clearly in shock of getting killed so quickly. Sophia growls over at Yoonchae and Yoonchae just smiles back, proud that their new plan worked. Megan & Yoonchae both do their secret handshake whilst Lara walks back into the room again.
Sophia’s face then turns red as her voice roars over at Yoonchae “WHY DID YOU KILL US?” She screamed. Megan instantly jumped in to defend her girlfriend, “THATS HOW THE GAME WORKS SOPHIA”
“I DON’T LIKE THIS GAME” Sophia roars back, arms crossed and facing away from the other girls, especially Dani.
Lara invites Manon to the couch for a “quick chat” (said in a British accent) but it turns heated instantly.
“THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME YOU KNOW I HAVE TO BEAT MEGAN”
“YES BUT I DIDNT KNOW THE GAS CAN KILL YOU”
“OF COURSE THE GAS KILLS YOU”
“WAIT” Lara pauses. “YOU WERE FOLLOWING ME AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO WALK?”
“I FORGOTTTTT” Manon screams back.
“I DON'T BELIEVE YOU”
“DONT BELIEVE ME THEN”
Manon now turns away and walks into the kitchen for her breather. Lara scoffs before realising how unserious this is, she bursts out laughing and goes to follow Manon into the kitchen.
Back on the floor where the other 4 girls are sitting. Dani is looking at Sophia loudly asking why she walked towards Megan & Yoonchae if she knew they were gonna get killed.
“I DIDNT KNOW THEY WERE GONNA KILL US DANI” Sophia replies
Dani turns to Megan & Yoonchae and asks if they can play trios next round so she doesn’t have to be on a team with Sophia anymore. Sophia gasps before realising she did the same thing to Dani in that one interview so now was time for her revenge.
Yoonchae and Megan refuse, saying that in trios you get less trophies for winning, which is true.
Still, Sophia gets up, tears in her eyes and storms out of the room. Before she leaves, she screams “I HATE THIS GAME” and the door slams.
The remaining three looked at each other, clearly shocked and something like this would happen over a silly game like brawl stars. It was understandable if they were playing a game that is played regularly but this game is not one of those.
Dani now decides to get up and follow Sophia so she can apologise. As she leaves, in the doorway, she sees Lara & Manon hugging each other and laughing, saying how unserious the game is and they both can’t believe everyone took it so seriously. Lara then realises and beating Megan shouldn’t be as important as it is right now.
Both Lara and Manon walked back into the living room and are sitting on the floor again with Megan & Yoonchae, all laughing with each other and playing some in between games whilst they wait for Dani & Sophia to come back downstairs again.
In Sophia’s bedroom, she’s curled up under the bed cover with it also covering her face. Dani walks in silently in case she might be asleep.
“Sophia, I’m sorry” Dani whispers as she makes her way onto their bed. Sophia doesn’t reply so Dani continues.
“I’m sorry for saying you were bad at the game. I’m sorry for asking Megan and Yoonchae to be on the same team as me, that wasn’t fair to you. I’m sorry for shouting at you because you didn’t know how to play. I promise to teach you, okay”
She hears a small “okay” and sees Sophia wiping her tears from under the bed. “I’m sorry for not knowing how to play," Sophia says.
“That’s not your fault. Now let’s go downstairs, have a few practise games and show them all what we’re made of, okay” dani says
“Okay” Sophia replies.
Both girls walk into the living room together, holding hands and then sitting down together. The other 4 cheer and lets their current game finish before lara says
“Okay let’s play bitches!”
