"You're drunk," Mamoru said in disbelief.
"Yeah," Nagi said, continuing the epic battle of paperclips vs thumbtacks. His fine control was way off, but he could still make the paperclips march across Mamoru's desk and the tacks pirouette menacingly in ragged rows. He sniggered. "You look like you're re-enacting the Battle of Austerlitz - would you like help?"
"What?"
"Never mind."
Mamoru carefully sat near him. "Can I ask why?"
"Because Rosenkreuz made us study Napoleon's tactics."
"I meant why are you drunk?"
Oh. Right.
"Schuldig's depressed and needed a drinking partner." He looked up blearily. "It was me or letting him loose." He winced. "I wish I'd just dropped him in Akihabara."
"Did you nullify his threat?" Mamoru said, looking fascinated.
Nagi dredged up a memory of pouring Schuldig into a taxi.
"Yeah."
"When you're sober you're getting a bonus."
Nagi laid his head on the desk, moaning in gratitude.
