Pharma’s Pov
My optics glazed over the white ground around me, the white storm roaring and kicking up snow into the wind around me swirling like mini tornados building up then disappearing back into the wind around. Most important and annoying too. getting onto my plating, into the seams of my armor, annoying and horrible to clean out. It would probably take me a good hour to clean myself up fully. My optics looked up at the medical outpost in front of me. Right where they said it would be… far too near DjD territory and alone. Completely alone.
This was the outpost they chose to send me to run? To live at? To work too!? With other medics as well! To primus himself this damn place was a mess! The outside looked like it’s been forgotten even before the war changed Cybertron. It looks like the last time it was up and running was during the golden age of Cybertron. What should be presently kept up outer walls were instead worn but manageable luckily for my sanity. Nothing to have to call back to command and wait for cycles for them to respond to say that they couldn’t send anyone out to fix up the walls. Personally I really don’t need that on top of all this.
Even then with that little upside of not having to call command, I'm meant to be the commanding medical officer of this broken down wreck of a medical outpost!? Even those Decepticons wouldn’t do this to the worst of their medics. Oh who am I kidding? They would! They absolutely would! But… No matter. I… I would just simply have to fix it up! I’m a medic! This would be nothing but child's play to clean up! Couldn’t be that hard, maybe fate would be just to me and the outside would only be the part that looked disgusting.
… Hopefully.
My Peds finally moved towards the door as the wind kept whirling around, causing the snow to move along with it creating a clear show of the winds movements. Primus if i wasn’t stuck in the middle of this horrible storm then it would be amazing to watch while drinking cybertronian coffee, but nooo I just had to be stuck here with what looked like a broken down facility. My servos went to my arm plating, opening it up as my peds started to leave fresh ped prints leading to where the door should be. Likely by the time I did get to this damn damn they would be taken away by the snow and wind. Using my body to cover my arm plating I searched through the small pocket and soon pulled out the keycard I was given before coming here. Just to open it they said. After that from inside I could choose to keep it easily open or having to have someone open it to let someone in. May have to do the latter since how close the outpost was to being by Djd territory, damn Decepticons. I wouldn’t have been here if it wasn’t for them and how many more medical facilities are needed due to them.
My servos held the card tightly, didn't need the wind to take it away. Then I would be in a lot of trouble and stuck out here. Looking around the door I tried to find the card pad. Oh in primus name where was it! I didn’t want to be stuck here longer than I damn needed to! A grunt left me and finally found what I was looking for, primus.. The keypad looked older than the building itself! How in cybertron- nope, I am not trying to figure that out right now. All I needed to do was get inside, don’t dwell on something like that. It's just a waste of time. My servo pushed the keycard against the pad as soon the door whirled alive, metal screeching against each other as the door painfully opened up. Great that also needed some work. What here doesn’t need work! My optics looked into the dark base as my optics illuminated the area. The front room didn’t look too bad… Just some dusting and rearranging and I could make this place look like it’s brand new! Maybe it was just my luck that I won’t have to clean a lot.
My footsteps broke through the quiet still of the base, like I was walking through when time had stopped long before me. Dust covered everything, a testament of how old this place truly was. Primus. Just a quick scan around the halls there was stuff that had been put out of production due to the war. Okay… Maybe I really can work with this! Oh primus truly was on my side finally after the last couple cycles I’ve been through from being told I was being moved to this base for deployment to Ratchet just straight up leaving… No. No. Don’t even think of him, he chose to leave with no explanation, not even trying to say goodbye. I didn’t need him or anyone else. I could handle this alone easily.
Soon I stopped in front of the engine room. Hopefully this won’t have everything broken down. My servo pushed in the code as the door slowly opened, stepping in looking around it didn’t look… that bad, not as bad as it really could have been. Now to find the power switch… couldn’t be that hard. Walking around my servo went to the wall trying to find the power system. Soon my servo caught a metal box, bingo. Servo looked for the hatch to open up the box. The metal was cold as opening it gave me switches and names. My other servo quickly started to flick the systems on, hearing systems slowly whirling to life after who knows how long of being down. Okay… looks like everything is going to plan. And to think I was even a little worried! Ha!
Closing up the box I looked around the whirl to make sure things were whirling to life. Alright, it seems like nothing is breaking down- my train of thought suddenly ended when the lights came on. Finally! My systems easily dimmed down my optics to normal. Didn’t need them to use them as headlights anymore with the power on. Turning on my heel I left the engine room and into the hallway. Dusty. Oh so dusty, everything now more clearly was covered with a thick layer of dust. If I moved my digit over one it’ll look like it was always a damn deep gray.
Disgusting. Oh how I hated dust. It got everywhere, into joints, onto surfaces, under them. It was disgusting and horrible to clean. That is definitely first on my list to handle. Primus what else am i going to have to do! And to think they want as quickly as possible to open up this outpost for medical use! They didn’t give me a good answer if I was gonna get fellow medics to help me! I understood we were stretched thin but even a little maybe would have been good. No matter, I can make do. I always do.
My peds moved once more to explore more of the facility, Preferably to find the medical bay areas. Would help to know how fast in certain cases the hallway of the medical bay to the front door needed to be cleared to get patients to it. My optics kept looking around, at least it was well lit… Better than worrying about flickering lights in the middle of patient rushes. Finally after a couple minutes I found where the medical bays were. Okay… it wasn’t the worst. My optics roamed the first medical bay. Around 10 medical berths with each one having a small station by it. Walking deeper into the room I could guess this one was a recovering room just from how many berths there were. My servo ran over the brittle currents around each berth for privacy. Too brittle… Another thing added to my list just fragging great. At least this wasn't too bad of a fix. So likely lower on the list. More importantly I needed to know what the equipment was like.
My servo quickly went to the work station checking it over. Luckily for my own processor's sake this one had all what's needed. Nothing needed to be changed out due to rust or malfunctioning. I had been mainly worried about most commonly used tools but the fact the lesser used ones were also doing well was an added plus to all this. At least whoever was here last made sure that the medical supplies were safely kept away to not rust or get ruined. That saved me a lot of unneeded processoraches. Opening up the storage in my chasiti my servo went in and quickly found what I needed, a datapad. Taking it out and flipping it over, my servos started to move and wrote down some things to note for what I needed to do before telling back to the main base the outpost was ready for patients.
‘The recovery room 1; berth 1 - the station by it is in full working condition with medical supplies in working order and no signs of rust or faulty equipment. That can't be said the same for the currents for privacy. Those will have to be changed. It also seems just from a simple glance around that all of the currants shall need to be replaced. They are brittle to the touch and some even have holes ranging from small to whole sections missing or ripped clean off. Unknown yet if any of the currents are working order, unknown if 2 to 10 medical areas are in working order like one. To be added; also to note an extreme clean will have to be done to get all the dust off the surfaces and outdoor needs to be cleaned up and fixed.’
Now to check the other berths… I pray that I don’t have to replace anything… That would just be more of a headache. Getting to the other 9 berths and doing the same check I did on berth one, it seemed only 9 and 5 were in need of just small replacements of certain tools. Not too bad.. And just like I thought all the damn curtains will need to be replaced. Not even damn one of them was salvageable to use. I’ll have to write all that down to remember what tools I needed to replace for berth 5 and 9. Alright at least this area wasn’t too bad, could be a lot worse- suddenly my optics caught a door. Huh? Must not have been noticed during my initial optic sweep of the room. Maybe it was another recovery room just combined to make it easier for the nurses.
Walking to the doors my servo pushed it open to walk in, though my peds froze the instant I entered the room. The berths had chains attached to them. Powerful ones too, not at all easy to break… Okay… a bit much but understandable for certain patients we could get, even more so since how near we are to DjD territory… compared to the room it was connected to there were only 4 berths in this room, still the same supplies just more safety for both the patients and the worker. Likely this room would have to be used a lot with how different people react to things. Definitely need to make sure to double check things in here for everyone's safety in this room and outpost. My peds picked up again as I walked to the first berth, my servos gently picked up the chains checking them over, they were definitely heavy grade, nearly impossible to escape from without a key or just knowing the break points. Which quickly my optics searched for the break points and to see how hard it would be to break them.
Not too bad… The break points were the parts where the chains met with the cuffs. Even with a break point like that it would still be hard to break out of them. Let’s just hope no one ever does. My optics went to the cart with the medical supplies. None rusted luckily. It seemed before they left at least they tried to make sure this place was working condition, just means less work to get this place operational. Now to check the other ones…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My digits kept spinning the pen in my servos, going to one then spinning over another digit. A simple movement I did while thinking. Taking refuge in what I had to guess, the medics and doctors break room wasn’t too bad but wasn’t what it should be. But yet? Here I was, sitting in a chair while looking at the ceiling just thinking. Having written everything down that needed to be done and sending the data to the main autobot base, now it was the annoying waiting game. Who knows how long it will be until they respond. Sure I could get onto cleaning but I would rather not deal with the dust anymore today. I would start that tomorrow, that would likely be a whole cycle of just cleaning dust. A shudder ran through my frame just imagining the dust that would get all over me. Disgusting, oh I can’t wait for that to be done. Another thing was on my mind, well in truth two things but the second one… It wasn't important, never was and never will be.
When would they get word back to me if I would have any other medics here? I was the CMO, sure but what in primus' good name was that good for as a title when I was the only one here? Primus sake they could say that about any solo medic and it would mean nothing. They could have just called me the damn doctor here and it would make more sense, no matter… I would just have to handle this. Not the first time I've been forced to do things solo, wouldn’t be the last.
A sharp groan left me as a servo ran over my faceplate that wasn’t holding the pen, just glaring at the dust on the counter near me. Oh primus sake I couldn't handle that anymore! All the dust piling up and up! Everywhere too! It was disgusting! Unhygienic! And definitely not fit to work or try and recharge in. Standing abruptly from the seat I claimed as my own, my servo reached for cleaning supplies I had found during my exploration of the building. My servos grabbed some of it to just start cleaning. Spraying the surface of the table nearest to the cleaning supplies, the dust clumped together due to the sudden moisture on it. Quickly wiping it down with a cloth it already looked better in just that one area, it seemed under all this dust the surface was in good condition, let’s hope my luck continues with it.
Spray, wipe, spray, wipe. Over and over again and again. Just primus trying to get this damn room cleaned up. I couldn’t stand it, I couldn’t stand it! The dust everywhere got on my nerves fast and made me want to rip my wings out from it. I wouldn’t dare actually do it but primus did I feel like doing it. Grumbling to myself finally I got the last surface of dust. That didn’t take too long but that may be because it’s stress cleaning… No matter! At least the damn room was finally clean of dust. And yet during all that DAMN time not a single response from the others! Damnit how long will it take!
Falling back into my seat my helm leaned back. Just staring really at the ceiling. Nothing. There was really nothing to do, no patients around to help, no one to talk to, just quiet. The mind numbing quiet that drives mechs insane in war. The quiet you expect a storm from or a yell out but nothing. Just you, the stillness of the air, and your thoughts. Thoughts that numb and twist your processor, that break it down from how it feels you’ve gone mad! Primus no. no. Don’t be stupid and think of that. I’ve survived worse, this is nothing.
Suddenly a sharp noise went through the air from a storage room across the room. What the… slowly turning my servo into a chainsaw, mainly for my own protection! my peds started to slowly move to the door. What could even be here. The damn place was abandoned! So what is behind the door? I quickly opened the door holding out my chainsaw arm yelling to whatever was in there.
“Show your damn self!” Maybe I should have sounded more threatening- oh primus. A mech slowly came out holding his arms up, clearly nervous just from his face and how tense he was. His paint was choppy. It was supposed to be I guess red and white but the white paint was sloppy put on, hints of purple showed throughout the nervous mechs plating. Oh for primus sake what did I just get myself into… WHY WAS THERE SOMEBOT AT THE DAMN BASE I WAS TOLD WAS ABONDONED!?
