Chapter Text
Monoma was having a bad day. He woke up tired and with a headache, because of this headache he was feeling nauseous so he didn't eat lunch, yay. Running around exercising on an empty stomach was not fun. And don't even get him started on the joint training accident with
1-A this morning. Bakugou, the brute wanted to see if he could get away with attempted murder!
They were training in a mock city. The exercise seemed easy enough it was basically capture the flag two teams would go against each other, a 'Hero team' and a 'Villain team'. Neito was placed on the 'Villain team'. He hopes that the assigning of these teams were randomly selected and this wasn't some underlined message; but in all seriousness that was probably just him being paranoid.
(No it wasn't.)
Shut up.
Anyway, there would be four rounds in total and Monoma's team was up first. With a mannequin instead of a flag the goal for the 'hero team' (Iida, Uraraka, Mina and Bakugou) was to protect their mannequin from the 'Villain team' (Komori, Tsuburaba, Fukidashi and Monoma) thus their goal was to retrieve the mannequin within a 30 minute timeframe. Both teams were given 20 minutes to come up with a strategy.
The 20 minutes came and went and they had a plan, all they have to do now is executed it.
The plan was simple: Neito's teammates Komori and Fukidashi would cause chaos at the front of the building where the heroes were as distraction. Mean while Monoma would sneak around back, locate the mannequin and get his hands on it while Tsuburaba waited on the rooftop of another building nearby as a lookout and backup if he needed help. Dang near foolproof if you asked Neito.
About 6 minutes into the exercise Monoma was heading to the back entrance through a side alley, it was a narrow space but just enough room for him to fit. Half way there, he heard a loud BANG! He slowed his run to a jog and then stopped completely once he heard-- was that an explosion? Screaming... And rushing water? He took a few steps back. Suddenly water was hurling towards Neito at an alarming speed.
Tsuburaba yelled from the roof "Neito-- Run!"
Monoma of course, ran.
Long-story-short, Bakugou tried to, quote "Wash away the extras like the red sea" end quote by blowing up a water tower. A freaking WATER TOWER!!! Bakugou's full reasoning was his teammates were getting swarmed at the front so he figured the water tower would push the villains back. Bull crap! He knew what he was doing, he didn't and doesn't care that someone could have been seriously injured! And he's just using his classmates as an excuse, how low.
But he is from class-A so what did Neito expect really? Decency, common sense, humanity? Please.
Vlad and Aizawa sensei along with Recovery girl decided it would be best to end that round early, and in a tie. So technically there was no loser and no winner; that didn't stop it from feeling like a loss though. However that is very pessimistic and he should look on the bright side none of Monoma's teammates had any serious injuries, some scrapes and bruises but alright, Monoma himself took the most of the damage. When all that water came down such a narrow space it hit him much stronger and harder than it did everyone else. He got washed away, hit his head on... something, making his already bad headache ten times worse.
He also had a broken wrist now, and a huge bruise along the left side torso. Oh and did he forget to mention that recovery girl couldn't heal any of it because he was so dang tired! So instead going to the nurses office get one good kiss and be sent on his marry way he has bandages around his ribs and wrist and go back to the dorms sleep through the pain and then wake up early tomorrow to see Recovery girl before class. Fan-freaking-tastic!
And what was Bakugou's 'punishment' you ask? Detention, for a week and he'll have to take classes on structural stability and civilian awareness. It was brought up that the other team had gotten hurt because of Bakugou's actions but he claims he didn't know the other boy was in that alleyway. Thus, civilian awareness class and the structural stability classes speak for themselves with the whole water tower thing.
So yeah, if anyone asks; Katsuki Bakugou CAN get away with attempted murder.
Class 1-B made their way to the dorms all of them tired and ready to kick back and relax Neito especially. He stumbled his way to the stairs but before he can start climbing them Kendo catches his attention. "Hey! you gonna be okay up there by yourself?" She sounds just as concerned as she looks. Makes sense, she is class representative and usually checks on everyone when they're hurt. Though, he doesn't understand why she wastes her time on him.
"I'll be alright I promise. I'm honestly just going sleep." he admits.
"1000%?" Kendo questions.
"That's not a thing. And yes." He response.
She pauses, then nods "call if you need anything we'll be here." Monoma throws an affirmative over his shoulder and begins his ascent up the stairs. Pausing when Tokage shouts from the common room. "Feel better!"
"No promises." Monoma shouts back. Waving at his classmates before immediately regretting using that hand. (the left one) Making his way up to his room.
Upon arrival Neito, unceremoniously flops onto his bed and let's out a deep sigh. He lays there for a minute or two just, breathing. Today was terrible, he thinks. Turning his head to the side he looks around his room; his eyes stop upon seeing an item on his desk. A picture frame, nothing fancy or grand but simple. The picture itself is of him and his older sister in front their old house.
It's an old photograph from before he transitioned. Seven and eight if he remembers correctly.
It's not even a particularly good picture it's blurry and faded in some spots. He doesn't get why he still has it, sentimental value he supposed. Honestly he should throw it away staring at it too long brings bad memories to the surface anyway. Moving from his bed to the desk he grabs the frame pulls the picture from it's hold. Monoma's hand hovers over the trash...
(NO! Don't throw it away!)
A small yet adamant voice protests.
(It's all we have left of her.)
And Neito hates that. Hates that he can't just throw this stupid picture away. Hates how gently he holds it as if it was fragile. But the thing Neito HATES the most... Is that, he doesn't hate her. Hates that she left? Of course. And if she showed up out of the blue he'd have some words for her, but none of them hateful.
Monoma lays back onto his bed, he feels the burning sensation of tears he shuts his eyes quickly to prevent any of them from falling. The action doesn't do much though. In the silence of his room, he cries and whispers to someone he knows can't hear him.
"Why Sister? Why did you leave me alone?"
