Chapter Text
Ilya Rozanov was expected to claim his bride soon, someone to bear his heirs and be at his side. He was presented with the best omegas in the kingdom, but none of them seemed to satisfy him. They were beautiful, but he never felt a spark. He was under pressure from his advisors to wed soon to have an heir. The rest of Ilya's family had perished long ago; there was no one to take the throne if something were to happen to Ilya. The entire kingdom would be in anarchy, and Ilya knew this, yet he couldn't seem to settle for any of the omegas brought to him daily. Ilya wouldn't even look at today's selection of omegas; he wasn't in the mood. He had a kingdom to run. Ilya sat at the desk in his study and began to work through paperwork and various plans for the kingdom. His advisor brought him the morning paper. Ilya glanced at the front page; one of the far kingdoms was planning to marry their omega off for an alliance. As Ilya examined the page, the particular omega caught his eye.
“Shane Hollander," he said under his breath, his thumb trailing the omega's face. As he read further, he realized just who Hollander was to be married off to: a dangerous alpha known for his brutality, especially against omegas. The thought sent a fire through Ilya; the thought of this beautiful omega being mistreated enraged him. Ilya researched the kingdom more; he learned of the discrimination. Ilya gathered his guards and briefed them. He wanted that omega; he wanted all of the omegas from that kingdom to be free; he wanted the entire kingdom to be overthrown. The men prepared, and that night they set out on horses. They rode for 3 hours before arriving at the desired kingdom. Some dismounted and breached the castle; meanwhile, Ilya climbed a castle tower and climbed into the window. There he saw Shane sleeping quietly. Ilya walked over and grabbed him, trying to be gentle yet swift. Shane stirred and began to fight back, thrashing violently and trying to yell. Ilya stopped him and resorted to drugging him. He placed Shane in a sack and held him as he rode the horse back to the kingdom. Ilya's men finished destroying the rest of the kingdom before starting the journey back home.
Shane awoke feeling fuzzy; he didn't remember what happened. Everything felt fuzzy, his body and his memories. He took in his surroundings; he was on a bed, it was comfy, and the room seemed cozy enough. There was a nice window right across from him, a window seat below it, and the room was fitted with nightstands, a wardrobe, and a desk. As Shane moved more, he found his arms were cuffed to the headboard. He was alone in the room; instead of screaming, he chose to remain quiet. He wasn't sure what his captors wanted from him, but he was scared. All he could remember was being pulled from bed and then a very hazy, bumpy ride. Shane heard some rustling outside, a key turn in the door. He lay back in the bed and pulled the covers up a little higher. He heard heavy footsteps walk in and close the door. He listened intently as the steps got closer to his bedside
“You are awake?” A thick, heavily accented voice said, Shane blinked and looked up at the man. He was attractive Shane thought and definitely an alpha
"Y-you should let me go! I—I have people in my kingdom who want me back! They'll come for you! A-and I'm supposed to be married to a king. He'll want me back too!”
"Feisty," Ilya teased
“But no one is coming for you, дорогой. Did your parents not tell you who they were marrying you off to?” Ilya said
Shane furrowed his brows
“I was going to be married to a king."
Ilya scoffed
“So no? You were going to be wed to Cornelius of Greenwich. Are you familiar with his… work?”
“Work? What do you mean?” Shane rustled against his cuffs. Ilya grabbed some old news clippings and places them on Shane's lap. Shane dug through them, looking at the various reports of this alpha absolutely abusing and mutilating his previous omegas
“How do I know you're not lying to me?! My parents would never!” Shane said, anger in his voice mostly from disbelief
“Because this is the paper that inspired me to come rescue you." Ilya handed him the front page announcing the alliance; Shane gripped it tight
“Rescue?! You kidnapped me!”
“Agree to disagree; if I did not take you from that castle, your throat would have been slit within a week."
Shane huffed and looked away from him, tears burning at his eyes.
“What do you want from me anyway?”
“I want to mate you and have you bear my pups in return for your rescue." a few tears fell from Shane's eyes; he expected his life to be such from the moment he presented himself. he knew what the rest of his life would entail but even still, it stung
“I will not be unkind to you, дорогой," Ilya said
“Then why am I handcuffed?”
“You are a fighter; you bit me."
Shane couldn't help the smile that crossed his lips; he had a vague memory of biting someone. He's proud of the fight he puts up even when he's inebriated, especially for an omega. Ilya uncuffed Shane
“I will let you settle in; you have a servant. She can bring you breakfast, anything you like to eat."
Shane shook his head, rubbing his wrists where the cuffs had been. Ilya left the room to give him some space. A servant quickly entered and placed a tray down on the nightstand.
“If you need me, just call out," she said before leaving.
Shane was alone with some tea and biscuits. He tucked his knees into his chest and started to cry. All Shane wanted was to be more than just an omega, to be more than a womb. He cried for a moment longer when Ilya reentered the room. Shane didn't notice his presence until he felt a hand on his back.
"Дорогой, what is wrong?”
“What do you care?” Shane asked, wiping his nose with his arm
“I do not want you to be sad."
“How can I be anything else? I don't know where I am; all I know is that I'm a hot commodity and everyone wants to breed me and make me have their pups."
“You are in Abbalon, is about 3 hours from your old kingdom. I will not make you have pups right away, not until you are ready."
“What a gentleman," Shane said sarcastically, falling back against the headboard
“Yes, I will court you, marry you, whatever you want." Shane raised his brow
“Court me?”
“Da, you don't know what that is?”
Shane shook his head
“О боже! How far behind was your kingdom?”
“I—I don't know. I wasn't allowed to leave the castle."
Ilyas face twisted into shock
“You never left your castle?”
Shane shook his head
"Is that not normal?”
“No, it is not." Ilya held out his hand
"Come, let me take you." Shane was a little hesitant, but he reached out and took his hand nonetheless. Ilya led Shane down some steps and into the courtyard out back with beautiful gardens and landscapes. Shane had never seen it before he'd looked out windows, but he'd never thought he would get to it. It was nice to feel the sun and look at all the flowers. Ilya led him out through the gardens
“It's beautiful out here."
“I can take you out here when you'd like."
Shane nodded
“I'd like that. What, um, what is courting?”
Ilya laughed softly; he could not believe how little Shane knew.
“Courting is when I give you gifts and we get to know each other better before marriage."
“Marriage was always arranged in my kingdom."
“Ah, not here." Ilya took Shane back inside and back to his room
“You did not eat yet? Did you want something else?” Ilya asked, looking over the untouched tea and biscuits
"No, it's fine; I just haven't tried them yet." Shane grabbed one and took a bite. It was sweet and unlike anything he had ever tasted before. The food in his old kingdom was bland and mushy but this was a million times better than his old kingdom
“Is good?” Ilya asked
Shane nodded
"Yeah, it's good."
“I will give you some space." Ilya ducked out of the room to give Shane some time and space to decompress. Ilya headed to his study and worked on his duties for the kingdom.
Shane sat on the bed and finished the food. He walked over to the window seat and looked out at the courtyard where Ilya had taken him. He loved the feeling of the sun on his skin, the breeze, and the smell of flowers wafting through the air, and Ilya didn't seem so terrible, possibly better than who his parents planned to marry him off to. Shane grabbed the newspaper clippings Ilya had brought him. He read through them, reading up on the alliance, the man he was set to be sold off to. He put them down fairly quickly; it was hard for him to read. He walked back to the bed; it was soft and comfy. He didn't hate it here, not that much, although that thought scared him a bit. How could he like the guy that kidnapped him? Maybe he was just going crazy. Shane thought he settled in the bed to get some sleep; he might be thinking more clearly after some rest.
When Shane awoke the next morning he was brought some breakfast from a servant who told him Ilya would be busy all day long
“Ilya is the king?” He asked he was sure the man from yesterday had to be Ilya but he felt silly not getting his name now. the servant nodded
"Yes, but something has come up; he won't make it in to see you today," the servant said before leaving. Shane didn't like how his stomach dropped at the thought of not getting a visit from Ilya; he enjoyed the company, something he wasn't given often back home. He had some books he could read, and there was paper and a pen for him to write and sketch with. Although he was still quite bored, he checked the door, and it was unlocked. He took a look at the entire castle; it was large and bustling with lots of servants, guards, and what Shane assumed to be advisors. The castle was well decorated; beautiful chandeliers and paintings decorated the halls. Shane wanted to get a closer look, but he noticed the guard nearby and decided not to press his luck. As some time passed, he heard a clunking of armor and ducked his head back out to see him gone. Shane took a few steps forward and looked at that painting that had caught his eye; he wanted to look at it some more, but he heard armor coming back up the steps, so he scattered back into the room and onto the bed. He giggled softly; he couldn't believe the adrenaline he felt from that, but it was very exciting for him. He picked up another book to read. As the sun set, Ilya walked into the room. Shane was a little surprised; he didn't expect to see him today.
“I thought you would be busy all day." Shane asked
"I took a break. I heard you had a bit of an adventure today."
Shane paled a little. Did Ilya know he dipped out for a second? Would he be in trouble?
“I- uh i-...”
Ilya smiled
"Is ok. Is true?”
Shane relaxed a bit and nodded
“Yeah… sorry, I just wanted to look at that painting. I don't have a lot to do in here."
Ilya nodded
“Is fine, is a nice painting, yes?”
Shane nodded
"Yeah, I really liked it."
Ilya sat down on the bed
“Sorry I was so busy today."
“It's fine, really. Is everything okay?”
"Ah, nothing too worry about." Ilya patted Shane's hand
“Sleep well," Ilya said, standing back up to leave
“You too."
“No more adventures, yes?”
"Yeah, I won't wander anymore."
Ilya nodded
“Good night, Shane."
“Goodnight, Ilya."
The next day Ilya tried to spend more time with shane so he wouldn't be bored and want to wander; he brought him some courting gifts
“Can we take a walk outside?” Shane asked
“Ah, not today." Ilya rubbed Shane's arm. Shane felt a little sad; he definitely wanted to go outside but he wouldnt press him so he nodded
"Sorry," ilya said and kissed Shane's hand. Shane smiled. Ilya's lips were warm and soft
“It's okay." a guard opened the door and walked in
“Sir you're needed in the drawing room." Ilya nodded and turned to Shane
“You'll have to excuse me." Ilya kissed Shane once more before walking out with the guard. Shane wondered if something really was going on since Ilya had been so busy.
That night Shane was awoken from his sleep by a loud sound. It made him nervous; he kept hearing things happening outside. He climbed out of bed and tiptoed down the hall. He found Ilyas bedroom easily; the door was ornate, and guards were posted nearby. However, they let him into Ilyas's chambers. Shane was a little nervous; walking into an alpha's den without permission was a bold move, nonetheless. Shane walked in; he was hit with Ilyas's scent normally. Ilya wore a scent patch, but he must take it off in his private chambers; the scent made him weak throughout his entire body down to his buckling knees. It was delicious, warm, and cozy. He saw Ilya asleep in the middle of his large bed. The room was dark; despite the moonlight illuminating Ilya's face, he could tell the bedroom was large. He tried his best to walk over to Ilya without stumbling or scaring him. He slowly climbed onto the bed, but Ilya was a very skilled warrior, and he was vigilant. He stirred immediately and went into action without realizing who had climbed into his bed. As he grabbed the knife he kept under his pillow,. He heard Shane's soft voice
“Ilya?”
Ilya stalled
“Shane?” Ilya pulled his hand back out from under his pillow and reached out to find Shane's face
“Yes, sorry, I just… um, I heard a noise. Sorry, this sounds so stupid now, I—"
Ilya shook his head
“No, no, it is not stupid." Ilya pulled him closer. Shane smelled Ilya even more now, and it was borderline intoxicating, yet he'd never felt more secure.
“It was really loud and… there was a lot of other noises."
Ilya nodded
“I will have my guards check it out if that would make you feel better."
"Yeah, it would." Shane nuzzled his head into Ilya's chest; it felt so nice. Ilya called to the guards outside and ordered them to do a perimeter sweep. Shane felt a bit like a child; he was worried Ilya would make him go back to the spare room, but Shane wanted to stay here with Ilya with his scent and his warmth. Shane couldn't help himself from Ilyas scent he was nuzzling him more and scooting his body in closer, leaving very little between them. Shane trailed his hand over Ilya's body; he was muscular and firm. As he went further down, Shane realized Ilya was completely naked.
"Oh, sorry I didn't realize you were…”
“Naked.”
“Yes. That,” of course, Ilya was the kind of guy to sleep naked. Shane thought it fit his character but still a little odd to be sharing a bed with him while he was unclothed
"Is ok." Ilya laid back in the bed
“Did you want to sleep here tonight?” Ilya asked. Shane thought it over briefly; he did want to sleep with Ilya even though he was naked. Shane nodded
"Yeah, if that's ok with you, I'm just—"
Ilya shrugged
“I understand, you can sleep here no problem." Ilya settled into the bed to go back to sleep. Shane arranged himself in the bed next to him; it was even comfier than the other bed, perhaps the comfiest bed he'd ever slept in. There were plenty of pillows, soft blankets, and Alpha scent. Shane did lean over and place his nose right into Ilyas neck he just couldn't help it. He smelled so good.
When Shane woke up, he felt amazing, perhaps the best sleep of his life. He saw Ilya was gone from the bed, but Shane got a good view of the entire room; it was big, and there was a huge closet, a bathroom, a sitting area with a fireplace, and lots of art on the walls. Shane wondered where Ilya had gone; he'd wanted to ask him about the perimeter sweep last night if anything had turned up and he wanted that alpha scent back. His bedding smelled of it and it lingered in the air but it was not the same as breathing it in straight from Ilya's neck. Shane grabbed a pillow and breathed it in, relishing in the safe feeling his scent provided him. He felt a little crazy; he hardly knew Ilya, and on top of it, Ilya literally kidnapped him. He knew he had to be crazy because he was starting to not care about the kidnapping; in fact, day by day, the kidnapping was seeming more as a blessing rather than a tragedy.
