Summary:

Polar opposites, Beomgyu has had it out for Taehyun ever since the ass joined in the year below him.

He instantly stole the coolest kid in school, Yeonjun, whom Beomgyu had always idolised, and formed that ridiculous band with two other people, including Beomgyu's own best friend, Soobin.

Beomgyu is a STEM nerd, Taehyun's a guitarist and creative kid with no motivation for school. It all changes when they wake up in each other's bodies. Will they switch back in time before it's too late?

Chapter 1: first day back at school

Chapter Text

Beomgyu
Monday, 8:00am
A buzzing sound sets off a little earthquake in my bedroom.

My eyes fly open and flick to my alarm clock, smashing my fist into it vigorously.

My room is a little messier than usual, textbooks flung across the floor after last night’s study session.

My hair looks bombastic. It’s the first day of school and I only left myself ten minutes to get ready to ensure maximum sleep time. I sling on a headband to pull my hair back.

“Beomgyu, you’ll be late for school!” my mother calls.

“Coming!” I yell back.

I slip into my school uniform, freshly ironed and neat, fumble for my glasses on my desk in the dimly lit room and sprint out of the door, running down the stairs.

“You didn’t make me breakfast?” I ask, panting a little.

“Stop panting so bad you lazy sod, and yes, I made a sandwich.” she tuts and throws the sandwich on a plate just for me to scoff it in one bite, before rushing out the door and grabbing my bike.

Monday, 8:00am
A buzzing sound sets off a little earthquake in my mancave.

It’s definitely not an alarm clock, because who needs those things. It’s my fathers voice.

I raise my hand, eyes still shut. “Chill dude, beauty rest comes first.”

“No Kang Taehyun, school comes first!” his voice blows a wind so hard my posters almost come off and hit me in the face.

My hand flops back down onto my forehead.

“Calm down, you’ll knock my Smashing Pumpkins posters off the wall.”

“Get out of bed if you want to keep playing guitar or I’ll call your band and let everyone know that you’ve quit.” he says, sternly.

“Too far.” I reply.

I roll off of my bed onto the floor and push up into a kneeling position, eyes still shut.

I hold out my hand for my dad to pick me up, but my bedroom is silent and I can’t help but peek to see the look on his face. He had already left.

I stand up and pull my pyjama shirt off, winking at the imaginary camera.

I chuck on the nearest shirt and initially struggle with my tie. It’s not coming on clearly, so I tie it around my head instead.

Next moment, I’ve chugged a protein shake and am running to school, music blasting through my earphones.

A wrapped sandwich gets flung at my head by an arm stuck out from a car. I pluck my earphones from my ear, ‘Mac’ by Malcolm Todd at max volume spewing out of the tiny speakers.

“I know you tried having a protein shake for breakfast, and I’m not having that Tae,” a familiar voice says. “Now get the fuck in, loser.”

“To hell I’d go without you and your car, Yeonjun.”

“You wouldn’t last a day.”

“I totally would,” I say, barely audibly as I’ve shoved half the sandwich in my face. “Oh this is delectable.”

“Can’t hear you mate.”

I chuckle and dive into the passenger seat, pulling the seatbelt over me. The car instantly speeds off without Yeonjun checking if I’m fully in. His left hand reaches over to my head and pulls my tie off.

“You’re in year 11 and you still don’t know how to tie a tie.”

“I didn’t have time, okay.”

“Watch a tutorial next time you egg, I’ll tie it when we get to school.” he says with a sigh.

Beomgyu
Monday, 8:30am

I’m coming in through the school gates on my bike when my left trainer decides to stop gripping the pedal. The last time this happened, I went flying into a bush because I couldn’t grip back on.

Determined to not let it happen again, I quickly decide that the best idea is to jump straight off of my bike and let it fall without me.

I step up with my right foot and quickly bend my left leg over the seat and fall onto my bum in the driveway.

I watch my bike slowly travel further down the driveway, until it gently bumps into a freshly parked blue G-Wagon.

I bite my left finger and tilt my head to the side in embarrassment, avoiding eye contact with the two guys getting out of the car as I stand up from the floor.

"At least you didn’t eat shit and leaves this time.” comes a voice from the car, followed by the sound of shutting a car door which makes me flinch a little.

I turn to look at the guy, and he’s got a massive smirk on his face as he wheels my bike over to me.

“Cocky for a year 11, aren’t we, Taehyun?” I mutter as I take my bike back from him and lock it on the rack.

“You should wear a helmet next time since you’re so prone to accidents.”

“You should wear a helmet or I’ll, uh… bash your head in.”

“I’m going to report that to the safeguarding team, actually.”

“No wait… not on the first day of school…”

Yeonjun walks over with sunglasses holding back his hair and grabs Taehyun by the shoulders.

“Ignore the little shit, he can’t even tie a tie.”

“I totally can, I was just running la-” before Taehyun can finish, Yeonjun starts directing him towards the entrance muttering something about how he’s got Chemistry HL first period and doesn’t want to be late because of a toddler.
