“Grenytine, I has't did declare war 'gainst the above. I expecteth thee down in three days. I desire thee still has't square hath left. -Cognus, rul'r of the und'rrealms.” That was the message that greeted them that dreadful morning. Their jaw tightened as they read it--They knew what Cognus meant with this. They looked over at Dawn then back at the letter before crumpling it up. They knew they had to leave and join the fight. It’s what was right.
Grey arrived, their booted feet landing with a muffled thump. Brimstone crackled under their feet as they walked towards the unholy construct that housed their father. They approached the gates, greeted by the guard, Grimmlit Tenio.
“Going in, Commander?”
“No, I’m planning to leave-Yes, I’m going in, Grimm.” Grimmlit chuckled as he opened the gates, allowing Grey to step through. They did so and marched to the map room where they found their father and brother already settled.
“You’re here. Good.” Cognus greeted, sitting up in his chair. Charlie pushed off the wall.
“Took ya long enough, lil’ storm.” He ruffled Grey’s hair and they huffed before turning to Cognus.
“Yes, I am here. Of course I am. War is glory, yes? And I have glory to obtain so why not come to war?” Grey muttered as they crossed their arms.
“Good, Good. Both my children, together again, to fight a war against light itself. We shall live well.” Cognus called, patting Grey and Charlie on the back.
“Now, go get associated with your armors.” Grey nodded and headed down to the armsman.
When they met, her eyes widened. The armsman stared in awe.
“I-Oh-Are you Commander Grenytine? I-Oh, I’m overjoyed! I’m always wanted to armor people with your body type-Sorry, that sounded weird-Oh my gosh-”
“Look, stop fretting and whatnot. I just came for my armor and weapons. My brother will be down after me.” “Oh. Um…Of course. Right this way, Commander!” They were led into a private room where there was a counter with a black bodysuit and different sets of armor set on top of it.
“There you are, lovely.” They muttered, running their hands over the armor.
Grey went back to the map room to find their brother back in there as well, adorned in his own armor.
“Feels good, eh?” Charlie mumbles, flexing his arm slightly.
“Back in action, the ol’ Tribeaux twins.” He leans over and ruffles Grey’s hair. They quickly push off his hand.
“We are not twins, Charles.”
“My name is Charlie, number one. Number two-I know. Just an exaggeration, kiddo.”
“I’m not-Oh, screw off, Charlie.” Grey scoffed.
“Only on your wishes….Commander.” Charlie drawled, slinging an arm around their shoulder.
“Good-bye, Captain.” Grey spat as they pushed him off.
“Feisty.” Charlie purred before chuckling and allowing Grey to leave the room.
Grey stepped into the space reserved for soldiers on stand-by. The Admiral of the troops noticed them and yelled at the others, forcing them to stand at attention.
“COMMANDER ON DECK! STAND AT ATTENTION, SOLDIERS, OR I SNAP YOUR SPINE.”
