Chapter Text
It happened just like all the other times Lu Guang had lived through it.
On the evening of September twelfth, just as Cheng Xiaoshi was getting ready for bed - Lu Guang couldn’t, he couldn’t relax, knowing what was coming - they both heard the sound of breaking glass coming from downstairs.
Even though Vein had died years earlier, Lu Guang couldn’t say he was surprised.
Death seemed to always find a way.
Like always, Lu Guang told Cheng Xiaoshi to stay upstairs, out of danger.
Like always, Cheng Xiaoshi ignored him.
What else would happen like always?
Lu Guang dreaded finding out.
As they both made their way downstairs, they froze at the sight of a red-haired man standing in the sunroom, twirling a gun, wearing a stomach-churning grin.
The scent of smoke, of charred earth and whiskey filled the space.
The stench of an alpha.
Even though Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi lived together, they found their alphan scents tolerable to each other, something uncommon to the point where it was rare to find two alphas rooming together for long.
But Cheng Xiaoshi’s scent of pine and sweet orange never felt overwhelming to Lu Guang. And neither did Cheng Xiaoshi complain about Lu Guang’s own eucalyptus and aloe scent.
But now both were being overwhelmed by the sheer potency of the intruder’s scent, crashing over them in waves that made Lu Guang’s eyes water and Cheng Xiaoshi begin to choke even as they continued down the stairs.
“Vein,” Lu Guang hissed. “You’re alive.”
He was answered with a sharp laugh and a smile that was all bared teeth. “Surprise.”
A chill snaked its way down Lu Guang’s spine. “What do you want,” he gritted out, hackles rising as he tried to subtly step between Vein and Cheng Xiaoshi.
“I think you know what I want,” Vein growled softly.
Cheng Xiaoshi growled as well, stepping forward until he stood beside Lu Guang.
The air was thick, charged with challenge as Vein stared down the two territorial alphas.
He smirked.
That was apparently the only push Cheng Xiaoshi needed to rush forward, fist already reared back.
But, to Lu Guang’s horror, Vein’s grin grew wider. He stepped forward, towards Cheng Xiaoshi, his own hand rocketing up.
Lu Guang watched, unable to move as Cheng Xiaoshi attempted to veer away, tried to redirect from the sudden, unexpected attack, but it was too late.
There was an audible crack! as the butt of Vein’s gun slammed against Cheng Xiaoshi’s temple. He stumbled, falling to the floor with a low groan.
Just as Vein was aiming his gun at Cheng Xiaoshi…
“Stop!” The word was torn from Lu Guang’s throat almost against without his knowledge. He could feel tears in his eyes as Vein’s own raised to him.
He felt like he was being frozen alive by the icy-cold glare, but he pushed forward anyway: “Please! I’ll do anything, just don’t kill him!”
Vein paused, something flickering across his face, there and gone before Lu Guang could determine what it was. “Anything?” he asked, and his voice was so dangerously low that it opened up a gaping pit in Lu Guang’s gut.
But Lu Guang knew he couldn’t win. He could feel his inner alpha trying to stand his ground, but fully aware that he wouldn’t be able to win in a fight against Vein.
He had to be smart.
He just needed to catch Vein off guard so he could kill him.
For good, this time.
“Anything.”
Vein smirked once more before aiming the gun at Lu Guang instead. “Very well then.”
He pulled the trigger before Lu Guang could do anything, before he could even process what was happening.
There was a pain in his thigh, but it didn’t feel as deep as he’d expected. He looked down, mouth running dry as he saw a dart sticking out of his leg.
Lu Guang could feel his heartbeat roaring in his ears before it slowed, submitting to the fast-acting drug that was racing through his bloodstream.
“Xiao… shi…” Lu Guang mumbled as he tried to take a step towards his friend. But his vision was blurry, his feet uncoordinated.
He felt his eyes rolling back in his head, felt weightless as he fell towards the floor as if in slow motion.
Lu Guang succumbed to unconsciousness before he felt the impact.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When Lu Guang awoke, he was laying on a bed, face down, in an unfamiliar room.
The walls were slate gray, solid and thick, undoubtedly soundproofed, with no sign of windows anywhere. Was he in a basement? There was only one door embedded in the far wall, and, even though he knew instinctively that it couldn’t be that easy, Lu Guang immediately tried to head towards it.
Instead, he realized that he was tied to the bedframe, both wrists and ankles secured tightly.
He also realized he was completely nude.
Okay, no need to freak out. He was just tied up, alone, in an unknown location, at every whim of the unhinged alpha whom he’d tried to kill once before.
He wasn’t freaking out.
He. Wasn’t.
Even so, the scent of burning eucalyptus leaves filled the room.
The scent of an alpha in distress.
It wasn’t a common thing to smell. Distress was usually something that omegas felt, not alphas. Alphas were supposed to protect their omegas from danger, while omegas, with their very presence, soothed alphas.
Alphas weren’t supposed to feel distress.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Not to an alpha.
Not to him.
Alphas were territorial and protective.
They shouldn’t be distressed.
This couldn’t be real, Lu Guang reasoned. He was just having a nightmare where logic didn’t apply.
He was going to wake up any moment now.
Instead, there was a heavy creaking as the door - reinforced, Lu Guang realized as he listened - swung open. His eyes narrowed, hands bunching the sheets beneath him into fists as Vein sauntered in, looking as if he didn’t have a care in the world.
They made eye contact, and Vein made a show of smelling the air. He grinned toothily as he approached. “Having fun?” he asked.
A growl vibrated Lu Guang’s throat as his lip curled. He didn’t dignify the question with a response.
Vein merely chuckled. He leaned forward, and he pressed a hand against Lu Guang’s head, ruffling his hair and ignoring how he glared. “You should get used to this,” he whispered, the words sinking into Lu Guang’s gut, cold and heavy. “Welcome to your new life.”
“Asshole,” Lu Guang gritted out. “What are you planning.”
All he heard was the clicking of Vein’s tongue as those fingers gripped his hair and pulled his head back as far as possible. Lu Guang grimaced, but kept himself from crying out through sheer force of will.
They stayed like that for a moment longer, until Vein released him, allowing Lu Guang’s head to fall back to the mattress below. He said nothing as he turned on his heel and walked away.
“Wait,” Lu Guang felt his inner alpha squirm, but he pushed onwards anyway. “Where is Cheng Xiaoshi?”
Vein laughed. “Don’t you remember? Your little alpha friend is just fine back at his home. Don’t worry; I didn’t kill him.”
And then the door opened once more and closed, the heavy screeching of a lock echoing in Lu Guang’s ears.
Despite it all, relief made his limbs weak.
Cheng Xiaoshi was alive.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
An indeterminable amount of time later - it felt like a long time, but Lu Guang couldn’t be sure - he heard the door opening, Vein walking inside while carrying something under a small cloth.
“Feeling better?” Vein asked, his voice soft with mocking sweetness.
Lu Guang merely snorted, grimacing as he shifted his body until he was able to flip Vein off.
Instead of balking at the offensive gesture, Vein chuckled as if it were humorous. “Now, why would you do something like that when I’m here to give you food?”
“Because I despise you,” Lu Guang said, his irritation stirring in his gut, words made easier with hunger gnawing at his stomach.
Vein laughed. “You’re a feisty one, aren’t you? Well, it might not be the best idea to offend one who holds your food.” He pulled the cloth off the plate, revealing an expanse of steaming, sweet mantou buns. The scent curled around Lu Guang - much more appetizing than Vein’s scent - and he felt his mouth begin to water, eyes locked onto the plate.
Would Vein have to feed him by hand? That was a mortifying thought, but it would give Lu Guang an opportunity to bite his fingers.
But instead, Vein reached out of Lu Guang’s line of sight and pulled a low table closer to him. He set the plate on the table, in full view of Lu Guang, only an arm’s length away.
He scowled at the strange actions, but said nothing.
Vein held eye contact, aggressive eye contact, until Lu Guang saw movement out of the corner of his eye. His gaze flicked to it - unease stirring in his gut at looking away from Vein’s challenge - recoiled with a shout as he realized Vein had pulled his pants down. “What the hell?!”
But Vein said nothing. He merely palmed his erection, spreading precum across his length as his hand began to glide back and forth. The shiny slickness of his precum caught the light of the single bulb above them as his hand pumped up and down.
He was long - much longer than Lu Guang’s, he thought with a mostly-hidden grimace - and girthy, nearly as long and thick as Lu Guang’s forearm, with the hint of veins popping out on the sides. His base was even thicker, and Lu Guang realized that that was even before his knot began swelling.
The thick stench of smoke, of charred earth and whiskey filled the room, filled Lu Guang’s lungs until the light, sweet scent of the pastries was obliterated. Even when Lu Guang attempted to breathe through his mouth, he couldn’t keep the awful smell from filling his senses.
Even his ears were filled with the wet, slick sounds of Vein’s hand squelching his own length with the now-generous layer of precum. It seemed to reverberate in Lu Guang’s head, and he wished his wrists were free if only to cover his ears.
Vein’s hand moved faster and faster, his breath labored, eyes never looking away from Lu Guang’s prone, nude form. The base began to swell, instinctively trying to knot something, and Vein began using his other hand to squeeze it rhythmically, in tandem with his furious strokes.
The knot grew and grew until it nearly reached the size of a fist.
Finally, with a long, drawn-out sigh and a toothy grin, Vein’s hips rolled forward, his cock beginning to shoot stream after stream of hot, white seed.
All over the mantou buns.
The cum dribbled across the steaming pastries, white coating each one and trailing viscous droplets down the sides until each one was sufficiently glazed.
Before Lu Guang could process what had happened, he was hit in the face with another spurt.
Apparently satisfied with coating the buns, Vein had stepped closer, angling his still pulsing cock until his cum spanned the distance between them. He laughed as more ropes coated Lu Guang’s face, the captive unable to block or turn away.
He dared not open his mouth to protest. Instead, Lu Guang screwed his eyes shut and breathed through his nose.
That is, until his nose was pinched shut.
So that was Vein’s game, was it? Lu Guang knew he couldn’t hold his breath for very long. Certainly not long enough for a knotting alpha to finish cumming.
It should be fine if he only parted his lips a little bit, right? Just to breathe.
And yet, no sooner had he done so that the hand disappeared from his nose, fingers wrenching their way into his mouth and yanking his jaw open.
An instant later, something hot and salty shot into his mouth, straight to the back of his throat.
Lu Guang choked, wrenching his head away from Vein’s grip and writhing against his bonds as he attempted to spit the vile substance out.
Vein chuckled. “That’s a good little omega.”
Omega?
“I’m not-!”
Crack!
Vein’s hand moved faster than Lu Guang could register it, his open palm impacting Lu Guang’s cheek with such intensity that his head jerked to the side, words forgotten. “I said,” he spoke, voice low, growling a warning, “‘that’s a good little omega’.”
“No!”
Even though he was expecting it this time, it didn’t lessen the sharp sting of fire that blossomed across his cheek. Lu Guang grimaced, but barely kept himself from crying out.
“Are you hungry, omega?”
Lu Guang bristled at the title once more. He glared up at Vein, who merely watched him, a clear challenge in his eyes.
He didn’t want to be slapped again, but being called an omega made Lu Guang’s inner alpha snarl. “Not an omega!” he growled.
This slap was harder than the previous two, and Lu Guang couldn’t hold back the grunt that escaped from his mouth. He turned back, glaring up at Vein, who sneered back.
He didn’t speak again, merely reached and picked up the plate of glazed buns. “Aren’t you hungry?”
Mercifully, he omitted the word ‘omega’.
As if it were acting of its own free will, Lu Guang’s stomach rumbled loudly, rebelliously.
He could still smell the sweet pastry scent lingering underneath the heady alpha pheromones that make his own inner alpha bristle.
And he couldn’t deny that he was hungry.
His mouth watered as the plate was brought closer, just out of reach.
Until Lu Guang looked at the mantou buns, examined them.
Saw the white dribbling down the sides.
Remembered what it was.
He turned away in disgust. He may be hungry, but he was not that hungry.
“No? Pity,” Vein clicked his tongue as he set the plate down once more, still in full view. He took his time walking towards the bed, towards Lu Guang, then past him, trailing his fingers from the crown of his head down his spine until…
They harshly pressed in right at his tailbone. Lu Guang hissed in a breath, but couldn’t do anything other than try to shift away, unsuccessfully.
A second hand came up, palming the curve of one asscheek indulgently, and Lu Guang felt his breath catch in his throat.
No.
There’s no way.
“Look at that,” Vein hummed matter-of-factly, the mattress shifting as he clambered on as well. “My knot’s gone down.”
Lu Guang could feel a whine clawing its way up his throat as something cool and slick was splattered against his cheeks. A thin finger swiped across some of the lubricant, pressing closer.
He swore his heart stopped when that finger touched his sensitive rim, a place that no one should ever enter.
And yet, motions made easier with the slick glide of the lubricant, the finger slipped inside, heedless to Lu Guang’s choked cry.
“Oh,” Vein said, in a voice that sounded like a mock pout. “If that’s all it took to get you to make that sound, I would’ve started with this.” His finger slowly explored Lu Guang’s insides while easing his hole open, despite Lu Guang’s attempts to wriggle away.
Sweat beaded down Lu Guang’s brow as he clawed at the sheets beneath him, teeth clenched as Vein added in a second slicked finger.
He took his time, fingers seeming to map Lu Guang’s walls deeper and deeper.
He paused, and then his scent became even stronger. Lu Guang pressed his forehead against the mattress. Was it because Vein was excited? Regardless, it made the room spin around Lu Guang, and he closed his eyes against the wave of vertigo that crashed down on him.
Until those fingers moved again, jabbing against a spot that made Lu Guang’s entire body seize up. His back arched, gasping for breath, breathing in lungfuls of smoke that choked him. A strangled shout was wrenched from his throat, almost without his knowledge as Vein ruthlessly poked the same spot again.
He felt tears in his eyes as the fingers disappeared, knowing what came next.
There was a blunt pressure against his hole, and Lu Guang closed his eyes in defeat.
As Vein breached Lu Guang’s most private place, he felt a piece of him deep inside start to wither away.
There was hot breath against his nape as Vein slowly pushed in, draping himself over Lu Guang’s back and mouthing up his spine. Teeth grazed his scent glands, and they seemed to throb in response.
Vein slowly pulled out, allowing Lu Guang to feel every inch of him on his way out before snapping his hips forward.
Lu Guang mouthed blindly against the sheets at the feeling of fullness, of how wrong it felt with every pass of Vein’s cock.
It felt horrible, it felt incredible, he wanted to die, he couldn’t think, he-!
Lu Guang felt that he was screaming before he could hear it, nearly drowned out by the rushing of blood in his ears. His nerve endings were on fire, each one stripped bare and raw until Lu Guang could do nothing but feel, feel, feel.
His head ground against the mattress, hips shuddering as his orgasm rolled through his body, obliterating everything in the wake of pure pleasure tinted with shame.
Above him, Vein laughed as he rolled his hips forward, coaxing a loud squeal from Lu Guang’s mouth. Then his ruthless pace returned, fingers gripping Lu Guang’s shoulders as he all but pulled him back towards him to impact with every thrust.
Lu Guang cried out as something caught against his rim, stomach dropping even more as he realized.
Vein intended to knot him.
And yet, even as his struggles returned tenfold, Lu Guang knew deep down that he wouldn’t be able to free himself.
The knot swelled and swelled, snagging against the edge of Lu Guang’s hole with every pass.
Until, finally, it was forced into him for the last time.
Lu Guang felt his body go very still at the feeling of fullness, of the steady stream of hot seed flooding his insides, his hole sealed off and locking them together.
Vein lay down across Lu Guang’s back, breath ghosting against his nape before it migrated to one of his ears, whispering inside in a way that made chills run down Lu Guang’s spine.
“I’m going to make you mine.”
