Work Text:
He really did hate kids, he hated them almost as much as he hated whatever Bruce and him had been doing. Bruce cared too much, too much about Gotham, his image, his family history. Him, on the other hand, cared almost nothing towards it. He could fix it completely if he wanted to.
But, for now, he was standing on a rooftop, waiting. Khoa saw the car first, Bruce stepping out, checking his surroundings before stepping into the building after unlocking the door with something in his utility belt.
Not even 5 minutes later, a child slips out from a nearby alleyway. They couldn’t have been all that old, maybe 8 unless that was just their malnutrition. With the way Bruce leaves Gotham it’s hard to say he loves the city as much as he does. He’s a billionaire and there are kids starving, it goes against his world view.
Dropping off the roof, the child cowering back in realization. Looking each other up and down, trying to figure out what exactly either of them were going to do.
Khoa didn’t even know what he was doing. Even as he was leading the child away, the door opening as a very confused Bruce steps out. A wheel only somewhat parted from the car. The child was already silent, and looked considerably too similar to Bruce for him not to have to feign a sense of disillusion.
Blue eyes blinking up at him in the silence. He was definitely going to regret this, he thought, although still going through with leading the rather calm child away.

Even years later he was unsure of how that behavior came from him. Training him just like he had, he even somewhat grew fond of the child. Like someone would a pet in a way.
Bringing him back to Gotham years later after the disappearance of Bruce, leaving a colony of children in his wake. Where these children came from is unclear.
Taking over the town before it could fall into disarray. Bruce better have died or he might’ve killed him for this. The way the public treated Jason was disgusting however, after the crime rate dropped that would have to be dealt with.
Child after child seemed to try and figure out his relation to their fathers disappearance. Time after time he had to explain their involvement.
When Bruce did eventually return, the sight was disturbing to him to say the least. Aside from the obvious fact that he had solved the crime rate issue. With the help of Bruce’s children no less, after they got over their original qualms with him.
They even had more conversations, mainly due to their differing methods like always. Bruce trying to help him “be better” like he always did. When would he learn it never worked like that, not with him, or Selena, Talia, or any amount of other girls who he for the most part seemed to view as disposable.
Bruce was an enigma, Khoa may never understand his thought process and he really didn’t want to. After their conversation he wanted to get out of town as quickly as possible.
That didn’t work like he’d wanted it, leaving on another dispute, this time about Jason being with him. As if everyone around Bruce didn’t seem to die or be injured real soon into knowing him. Bruce knew that.
“J, come.” Jason following soon after, Alfred looking on blankly as Bruce followed, a child who was standing in the hall only glanced for a moment, most likely listening in to the prior conversation.
“You can’t use a child like that! It’s immoral and you know it !” Bruce was grasping at straws at this point, his voice trying not to quake or start yelling.
“Do I? Because it seems that’s exactly what you’ve been doing, time after time. You were this age when you started, weren’t you?” Leaving it at that as Jason followed shortly behind again, trying not to bump into his, father? Khoa didn’t know if that was the right term. He never saw it like that.
