Work Text:
Abolish reached for the bottle of water he'd set beside him, only to remember that he'd run out about an hour ago. With a sigh, he picked back up his chisel. He could go back to the place he'd been staying in - a house that'd been abandoned a couple decades ago he'd decided to set up his work in while he was staying here for a few weeks - but that would mean wasting good daylight hours. Plus, he'd noticed the clouds forming in the distance, and he would really rather not waste time when a storm was coming.
Trying not to break the fossils he was digging up had been a very difficult challenge over a decade ago when he'd first picked it up as a hobby, but now it came a lot more naturally, albeit still very slow and tedious work. Especially with how big this fossil seemed to be, possibly some sort of leg bone just based on the size and shape he'd already uncovered.
Wind blew some of his hair into his face, which had started to come out of the ponytail he'd tied it back in yesterday. He ran a hand through his hair to push it back, taking a moment to lean back and stretch, twisting his back in an attempt to get out the soreness. Kneeling hunched over probably wasn't the greatest for his spine, but it wasn't like there was anyone else around to tell him want to do.
He always worked alone. He didn't enjoy having to deal with other people telling him what to do, or God forbid telling other people what to do and experiencing them complaining about it or refusing to do what he said. He knew from his many years of doing this exactly what to do and the one time he'd allowed someone else to come along he'd gotten very frustrated very quickly.
There was a town close by, which he'd stopped by once already to buy himself something to eat that wasn't the dried fruits and non-perishable foods he'd brought out here with him. It was only a half hour walk from where he was staying, down a road he could see from where he worked that occasionally a carriage would travel along.
When he moved, he could feel his clothes sticking to him from how sweaty he was. Sweating like a sinner in church was always a given when he was working, especially in the middle of summer. A sigh left him as he tugged on his shirt slightly, trying to cool himself down. He'd worn a loose shirt and shorts, sleeves rolled up past his elbows, although the bandages around his chest made him feel even hotter just like they always did.
"Hello?" He jumped slightly at the sound of the voice behind him, and turned around as quickly as he could with the way he was still kneeling in the dirt. In front of him was a nearly bald man with some sort of eyeglass over one eye, wearing a simple white shirt and black pants.
"Oh, um, hi?" Abolish's eyes dropped down to the glass bottle in his hand.
"You're Abolish, right?" He nodded slowly. He hadn't ever seen this man before, so he wasn't entirely sure how the guy had known who or where he was, but he figured someone in town must've told him. "I'm Doctor Legundo, but you can just call me Legs. I see you're busy, but I wanted to come by and check on you. I heard some people talking about you and your… job, and as a doctor, I wanted to make sure you weren't out here dying of heat stroke."
Abolish raised an eyebrow slightly, but took the bottle from Legs anyways. "Uh huh? What were people saying about me?"
He was pretty sure he already knew. His field of study wasn't the most highly looked upon by the average person who thought he digged around in the dirt all day for no particular reason.
"It's not important," Legs said after a moment, while Abolish took a long drink of the water he'd been given. He hadn't realized how thirsty he was until he'd drank about a fourth of the bottle. "But I saw you in town yesterday and you seemed interesting."
Interesting was something he got called a lot, so that made sense. "Mhm. Thanks for the water."
"It's no problem. Have you been out here all day?" Abolish set the bottle down and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm trying to get some more done before evening." He turned back to his work, glancing up at the sky for a moment. The clouds in the distance were a little darker than they'd been an hour ago. "Or before that storm hits. Whichever happens first."
He picked up the chisel again, resuming his work of chipping away bits and pieces of the rock. He could practically feel Legs standing behind him and staring down at him, and he had to wonder why exactly he came all this way; sure, the man was a doctor, or at least claimed to be, but he hadn't met a doctor before who had done this. Actually, he hadn't spoken to a doctor in a while, since he rarely ever had any injuries.
"So, what exactly do you do?" Legs asked, and Abolish paused for a moment.
"Well," he hummed, dusting off the fossil he was maybe halfway through uncovering, "basically, I do this all day. I dig up fossils and write about them in my journals. I have a lot of them back at home, I convinced my dad to let me have a whole room dedicated to them in his house, since I still live there and all… Uh, a fossil is basically the remains of something that lived a long time ago. Like the bones and stuff."
"Mhm?" Legs set down beside him, leaning over slightly as he worked. Abolish felt his heart pound a little in his chest. He wasn't used to having anyone watching him like this, and he had to admit that he was a little nervous about messing up somehow.
"Yeah, it takes a lot of time but it's really satisfying to finish uncovering something." He brushed off a bit more dust. "I've been doing it since I was a kid, my dad always took me to the library when I was little and I ended up finding a book about this when I was… twelve? And I've been doing this since then. My dad used to drive me places for a day and then we'd go home, but now I usually stay at sites for a lot longer."
"Do you work with anyone else?" Abolish shook his head.
"Not really. I'd rather not have to deal with most people." Wind blew his hair into his eyes again, and he could feel the cold humidity of the storm approaching. He shook his head and tried to focus more on what he was doing. "I prefer doing it on my own, also means I get to keep all the fossils to myself… There's a lot of arguing all the time in uh, paleontology was the word people came up with a year or so ago. I try not to get involved with it. There's only a few other people in the field that I talk to often, one of them told me about this place and said it was pretty close to where I lived so I should get the honor of checking it out."
For a few moments, Legs was quiet, and Abolish began to worry that he was rambling too much. He had a habit of doing that. Then Legs reached over to tuck a bit of hair behind his ear, commenting, "It sounds interesting. People did say you were… shy, let's put it that way."
A soft laugh left him. "Mhm. I'm sure people say a lot of things about me." In the distance, he heard the faint sound of thunder, making him look up. The clouds were decently dark now, and if he had to guess he'd say he had around half an hour.
"Where exactly have you been staying?" Legs asked, and he glanced over at the other man with a bit of surprise. "I don't think I have the time to make it back to town before it starts raining. Nor do I have the energy." The doctor was staring at him with bright green eyes, one of which looked slightly off - Abolish wondered if that one was fake. There was a scar running across his face that went over it, so that eye was surely blind if it was real.
"Over there," Abolish answered, gesturing behind him at the old stone house he'd been staying in. "But, uh- It's a little cramped, and unless you plan on staying the night, I'd suggest heading home now."
Legs paused, then looked away from him. "That's alright with me. As long as it's fine with you."
"Yeah." He cleared his throat and went back to working. "Yeah, that's fine."
The two of them fell into silence for a few minutes. Abolish chipped away at the rock as the thunder slowly got louder, occasionally glancing up to make sure it wasn't too close. While the sky began to get darker, he noticed Legs starting to shift a bit out of the corner of his eye, no doubt nervous watching the storm get closer. A little hum left him as he finally began tossing his tools into his bag, draping a cloth over the fossil just to make sure the rain wouldn't break anything.
"Legs?" He closed his bag and picked up the two bottles of water, one halfway empty and the other finished entirely. "Would you mind taking my bag over there?"
"Not at all." The other man stood up, seeming to wince a bit as he stretched out his legs. "Christ, I don't know how you sit there all day bent over like that. I guess I'm just not as young as I used to be."
"I'm not that young," Abolish hummed, his legs wobbling as he stood up. He quickly straightened himself out and tried to stand up properly despite how much his back and knees were aching. "I'm twenty-five."
"Really?" Legs began to walk back to the house. "I would've assumed you were twenty at the most."
"People usually think I'm a lot younger." Most likely on account of the lack of facial hair and how short he was. If he didn't lack the right hormones to give him a beard or something, maybe people would stop mistaking him for being a teenager all the time. At least Legs assumed he was an adult.
"You're still a lot younger than I am," Legs said with a small laugh, pushing the door open for him. It creaked like it was about to collapse, but Abolish had inspected it when he'd first gotten there and figured it'd last long enough, despite some of the wood seeming to be rotting.
"Yeah? How old are you?" Abolish walked to the room where he'd set up all his stuff in, which he'd assumed used to be the master bedroom based on the bedframe that was still there. The mattress hadn't been there when he'd arrived, although he doubted he'd have slept on it anyways, considering he knew from experience that old mattresses in abandoned buildings were a haven for bugs. He'd brought his own blankets and pillow to just sleep on the ground like he usually did when he didn't have a bed to stay in.
"Fifty ish. I know, I'm an old man." Legs set Abolish's bag down next to the desk where he'd left his journal and other bag. Abolish gave him a small hum in response, although it felt a little like his brain had just been shaken around a bit - he wasn't sure why, but he was pretty sure it was a good feeling.
"How long have you been a doctor?" Abolish took a drink of his water, walking over and setting the empty bottle down. Legs looked down at him for a moment, an unreadable expression on his face, before looking away.
"A while now. I used to be in the army, and then once I left I decided to do some good in the world rather than…" He trailed off, and Abolish gave a small mhm, lightly brushing a hand against his arm before turning away.
"Ah, I forgot to mention that I only really brought enough stuff for me to sleep," Abolish said, gaze falling on the blankets and pillow still haphazardly left on the ground. "I can probably find something for you to sleep on?"
He jumped a bit when he heard thunder outside, far louder than it'd been earlier. Rain began tapping against the window, and as hard as he'd worked for years to keep himself under control, the sound still made his heart race.
Clearing his throat, he continued, "I, uh, we could also try to share, but I'm not sure how well that would work. I wouldn't mind, but it might not be the most comfortable for you."
His voice trembled on the first few words before leveling out again. He took a deep breath and kept his eyes focused outside, watching the trees in the distance blur from the rain. There was a flash of light up in the clouds above the forest, and then a few moments later the loud clap of thunder, but he managed to keep himself still this time.
"I'm fine with that." Abolish felt a hand on his back and for a split second his body seized up, before he relaxed at the warm contact. "Are you alright?"
"Mhm." Abolish avoided looking at the other man. "Do you want anything to eat? I have stuff if you've hungry."
"I'm alright."
Abolish nodded slowly, trying to decide what to do. He was a bit hungry, but the anxiety swirling in his stomach made the idea of eating sound entirely unappealing. However, the idea of going to bed also made his heart rate spike, considering he'd be sleeping next to someone he barely knew. Someone who he had to admit was very attractive.
With a soft sigh, he murmured, "We should probably-"
Then there was thunder, and he jumped a bit, caught off guard. Within a second, Legs had slid an arm around his waist and started to lead him over to where he'd left what he could probably only loosely call a bed.
"Head to sleep," Legs finished for him. "I'm sure the storm will be over in the morning."
Abolish took a slow, deep breath and sat down. He'd set one blanket on the floor, using the other as an actual blanket, and he lifted up his blanket so Legs could lay down next to him. He kept his eyes on the window as he laid down with his back to the other man.
"I don't like storms," Abolish said softly, and Legs let out a quiet hum behind him. "I haven't since I was younger, they're just…" He trailed off. He wasn't sure exactly why he was saying any of this, especially to a stranger he'd probably never see again after tomorrow, but it was keeping him from panicking too hard. "Bad memories."
"I assumed so." A hand settled on his waist, and his heart lodged itself in his throat. As long as Legs didn't move his hand up or down at all, it'd be fine; the idea of explaining why his body looked like that to a doctor sounded hellish.
"I'm from a town close by here, uh, Blackwyn." He shifted a bit, pulling his hands close to his chest. "My family's from a bit further away, but the man who adopted me lives there." He paused to try and figure out what to say next. Ignoring the rain, it was terribly quiet. "I, uh, I have a cat. His name is Blueberry, I got him when I was eighteen."
"Do you now?" Arms wrapped around his waist fully and, even though he would normally hate anyone touching him, Legs was warm and he fit so easily against the other man's chest that he couldn't complain. "You seem like a cat person."
"I am, yeah." He let his head rest against the doctor's chest, eyelashes fluttering as he tried to keep his gaze on the window. "People say I act like a cat. Not sure why, but…"
He fell quiet as Legs began to gently trace circles against his stomach, scarred hands pushing under his shirt just slightly. He let his eyes close slowly.
"I've kind of never slept in the same bed as someone before," Abolish whispered, unable to help the smile that spread across his face as Legs nuzzled into his hair. "This is, uh… it's nice. Thank you."
"No problem, Abolish." His voice was a bit softer now, and the sound made Abolish's face warm slightly. He stayed quiet, though, trying to relax enough to fall asleep. Despite the rain, with someone else holding him it was a lot easier than it usually was, and he soon found himself drifting off.
Abolish jolted awake to the sound of thunder again, breathing in with a sharp gasp. His eyes snapped open and he could see that it was much darker than it'd been when he'd fallen asleep, although he wasn't sure how late it was considering it was still raining hard outside.
He kept himself as quiet and still as possible, afraid that he would wake Legs up. They were still pressed close together, his back against the other man's chest, and he didn't dare even move. He knew how to keep himself quiet. He'd spent so long learning to be silent and still, it was something that came almost naturally.
Slowly, the tension left him, but not before he felt Legs shift behind him. Dread filled him as he realized he must've woken him up somehow.
"Abolish…?" the doctor murmured, one of his hands splaying across Abolish's stomach and pulling the smaller man closer. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, just thunder…" Legs nuzzled the top of his head, and he could already feel exhaustion weighing down on him again.
"I'm sorry, sweet thing." The nickname made his face warm, heart pounding for an entirely different reason, but he tried not to react too much. "I'm right here, okay?"
"Mhm…" His eyes fluttered closed again, but his heart was still racing fast enough that he knew he wouldn't be falling asleep again anytime soon. Regardless of how tired he felt, his body never let him sleep like this, although it wasn't fond of allowing him to sleep in general.
For a few minutes, everything was quiet again, save for the rain outside. And then Legs said against his hair, "I can… help you relax more. Only if you're comfortable with that."
It took a moment before Abolish got the implication, and then his face flushed with heat. "Oh, um, I wouldn't- I wouldn't mind, but also uh… I kind of don't have a dick?"
He blinked his eyes open again, quickly realizing what he'd said, but before he could even think of something else to say Legs was already responding, "That's alright. I'm not going to be… weird about it, if you were worried about that."
"Oh, that's good." He pulled away from Legs slightly to roll onto his back, keeping his eyes anywhere but the other man's face. "Then, uh… Yeah." There was still a hand on his stomach, which now felt awfully close to between his thighs. "Can you? Please? I'd- I'd like that, it'd probably help me sleep, and…" And you look really hot and I want you to touch me was what he didn't say, the words dying in his throat as he was overwhelmed with embarrassment.
"I offered, of course I can." The hand slid down to between his legs, and he quickly adjusted his position, pushing them apart. The blanket was still draped across both of them, which he was very grateful for. Looking down at himself sounded even more humiliating.
"Thank you," he breathed as he shut his eyes, leaning his head back against the pillow. Legs trailed his finger over Abolish's pants, pressing between his thighs where his hole was, earning a quiet gasp. He was for once grateful for the rain, the sound drowning out any noises he made.
"Mhm." Legs tugged down his pants and underwear, and he nearly cringed when he realized just how wet he'd gotten. "And uh, for the record, I wasn't exactly planning on doing this. You just seem stressed."
"I-" A gasp left him as a finger pressed into him, slowly and carefully. "I assumed so, yeah." He sank his teeth into his lower lip. He'd gotten himself off a couple times before, but the idea of fingering himself had always seemed intimidating, so the feeling of having something in him was entirely foreign.
"I did think you looked handsome, though." He bit his lip harder as Legs pushed his finger all the way in. "I saw you whenever you were in town yesterday, although I didn't really know who you were until I overheard people talking about you. I've known a few sciencey type people before and you all have a habit of not taking care of yourselves."
Legs slowly pumped his finger in and out, and a whimper left Abolish whenever he tried to speak. "I take care of myself just fine."
"Uh huh. Which is why you were out there with nothing to drink."
"I- I ran out."
"Do you not have anything in your bag?"
"I do, but-" He was suddenly cut off when Legs rested a thumb against his tdick, the jolt of pleasure dragging out a soft moan he couldn't stop in time. It was awfully humiliating how quickly his composure unraveled, but God did he feel better than he'd ever felt.
"There we go." A second finger slid into him, and he gasped at the stretch, his face scrunching up slightly. He squeezed his eyes shut tighter and bit his lip again. "Just relax, you're doing so well."
His back arched slightly at the other man's words, some of his embarrassment melting away. He pushed his hips against Legs, trying to get the man to go faster, clenching down as Legs slowly scissored his fingers. Legs must've noticed his reaction because he murmured, "Mhm, you're so good for me, dear. I can tell you haven't done this before, have you?"
He shook his head weakly, a whimper leaving him as Legs rubbed slow circles against him. He told himself he couldn't feel close that quickly, but his body seemed to hate him because his hips were moving on their own, fists clenching as waves of pleasure hit him. A series of whines left him as his thighs snapped together and all he could do was squeeze around the fingers still buried inside him.
"That's it, that's much better, mhm?" His chest heaved slightly as he came down from his high. Then Legs began slowly pulling out his fingers and he let out a whine.
"No, no, don't-" He blinked open his eyes, spreading his legs out again. "Please, please don't stop, please-"
"You don't want me to stop?" Legs was staring down at him, and the doctor's eyes flicked over his face, brow furrowed just slightly. He shook his head quickly.
"Keep going," he breathed, despite the way his eyes burned with tears as Legs pushed his fingers all the way back in. The muscles in his stomach spasmed from the overstimulation as Legs began slowly scissoring his fingers again.
"Are you sure?" Abolish nodded feverishly. "I can keep going as long as you want."
Legs still looked concerned, but his expression seemed to relax as several more noises left Abolish. He gave up on keeping quiet; it was rather pointless when they were alone in here, and hardly anything could be heard over the rain anyways.
The overstimulation almost burned, his hips jerking as if his body was trying to escape, even though his head felt so fuzzy and good from how much it was. He could hardly think, and by the time he felt himself start to get close again he was trembling and weak and infinitely more relaxed than he'd felt in a very long time.
"Legs," he gasped, forcing open his eyes again. He hadn't realized he'd even closed his eyes, but now he was staring at Legs again, meeting the other's pretty green eyes. "Oh, fuck, Legs-"
His head jerked to the side, looking away from Legs as he came again. His thighs pressed together even as the pleasure burned like fire in his stomach. Legs slowed to a stop, and he could feel the man watching him, presumably waiting for some sort of indication of what he wanted to do.
"No more," he mumbled, letting his legs fall open so the other man could pull his hand back. He glanced back at Legs to see the man nod, hand pulling back, before he wiped it on the edge of the blanket. "Thank you. That, uh… That was really nice, thank you."
"It was my pleasure." He struggled for a few moments to pull his clothes back up, before settling down again and rolling onto his side, facing Legs this time.
"'m so tired," he mumbled, the doctor's arms wrapping around his waist again. He felt even smaller than he did earlier, but that was probably just his exhaustion.
"Yeah?" Legs slowly traced circles into his lower back. "Do you need some water or anything?"
Abolish paused for a few moments, attempting to collect his thoughts. "Some… Some food would be nice."
He was too tired to feel anxious anymore, but his stomach felt entirely empty. Legs nodded and pushed himself up, patting Abolish's side before getting up. He settled his head against the pillow and watched as the doctor opened up the bag that had food and clothes in it.
"Are you fine with anything?" He gave a hum of affirmation. "You really are tired, aren't you?"
Legs pulled something out and walked back over to him, kneeling down. It took a bit of effort to reach up and take the food Legs had brought him. "Yeah… Thank you."
"It's no problem." Legs settled back into the makeshift bed, wrapping his arms around Abolish's waist again. The younger man ate quickly, before letting his head rest against the pillow again, allowing Legs to pull him closer.
It was still storming outside, but it was far easier to ignore when he felt this tired and relaxed. His head settled against the doctor's chest and, soon enough, he found himself falling asleep again, feeling warm and safe for the first time in years.
