Bruce's son and partner in vigilantism, Jason, was always a small skinny kid. Bruce figured that it was from malnutrition from living homeless on the streets previously, and once the boy was on a proper meal plan under Bruce's care, he'd shoot up in height. But here a couple years later, and the boy is still short for his age. It's looking like he's not going to grow much taller or broader. What's also damning is his scent is starting to sweeten, like an omega. Bruce is having trouble accepting it. But really, he should've seen it coming in hindsight. The boy has always been sensitive and emotional. Bruce was maybe in denial up until this point. But now it's too obvious to ignore. Jason is going to present as an omega. Bruce can't have that.

Omegas are the smallest and weakest of the secondary genders. They're susceptible to alpha scents and commands. They need to take time off for inconvenient heats and period cycles and fluctuating hormones. If Jason presents as an omega, he won't be able to be Robin anymore. It just wouldn't be possible or practical or proper.

Bruce had hoped Jason would present as an alpha like himself and Dick. Jason was scrappy and brutal when fighting. Bruce could picture him growing into a protective and chivalrous alpha. That's what he had envisioned for the boy. The reality is not to plan.

It is very rare for males to present as omegas. Bruce just didn't take the possibility seriously with how uncommon it is.

Bruce needs to rectify his mistake. He will fix it.

Bruce secretly drugs Jason unconscious, and while he's out Bruce puts an implant in the boy's arm. A puberty blocker to delay Jason's presentation so Bruce has time to attempt to stud the boy into an alpha. He does this by creating pills that he then has the boy take twice a day every day. They pills are capsules of concentration of alpha hormones. Which will hopefully slowly affect and change the kid's biology. The pills are illegal, but Bruce is willing to go outside the law to do the right thing. This will be good for the boy. It's what's best for him. Bruce gets Jason to take the pills by lying to him and telling him they are vitamin supplements and is he wants to be in top shape and remain Robin then he has to take them.

At first Jason's body rejects the new alpha hormones. Jason is sick for the first couples weeks. Bruce lies and says he ran a test and the boy caught the flu. So he really needs to make sure he's taking his vitamin supplements so he can get stronger and fight off the illness. Eventually, Jason's body gets more used to the alpha hormones and he stops experiencing such ill effects.

It takes a while but Bruce starts to see changes. Jason goes back to growing, gaining a couple more inches of height. His voice deepens. His scent gets a more alpha edge to it. He starts gaining more muscle density. Bruce is happy with the changes. Things seem to be working.

Jason is a bit turbulent with his emotions. Both omega and alpha hormones fighting for control. The boy is also a bit upset about not yet presenting. Almost all his peers have already and he doesn't understand why he is delayed.

Bruce reassures Jason that everything is fine. But Jason doesn't know how to control the new hormones and instincts. He becomes more out of control and reckless and violent. Bruce has trouble teaching Jason to channel these instincts which are foreign to how Jason should be. Bruce figures though, when the transformation is complete, Jason will settle into his new alpha self.

That never comes to completion. Because Jason dies.

When Jason came back to life and taken in by Talia, he discovers something about himself. His scent starts to shift to a certain omega sweetness and it's like he goes through a mini puberty. But this time as an omega.

It's very confusing and distressing because Jason had been on track to present as an alpha. He thinks maybe the lazarus pit messed him up. But Talia says that has never happened before. She examines him and finds that he was always meant to present as an omega. Jason can't understand it. When he was young he had thought for a very short while he might present as an omega but then his scent shifted and he started going through an alpha presentation.

Jason eventually puts things together and realises Bruce must have done something. Jason recalls how poorly the man spoke of the capabilities of omegas. How happy he was when Jason started presenting more alpha like. How he'd go on about how glad he was to have an alpha son and partner.

Jason is livid. The man messed with his biology and body chemistry. Such an invasion of his autonomy. He feels violated. He feels like something was taken from him. Which is true.

Jason is tall and broad for an omega. His voice too deep to make proper omega vocalisations. His penis is bigger than what is typical of an omega. He can't get properly slick and has to rely on lube. Bruce messed up his body. He's now a freak cross between an alpha and an omega. He looks like an alpha with his large stature and strong jawline and facial features. But internally he has the biology and instincts of an omega. His scent is sweet but then its got this slight alpha musky edge to it. Jason feels so uncomfortable in his own body. There is no chance of being accepted by society or potential romantic partner. Jason hates Bruce.

Jason hates Bruce even more when he finds out the man took in a new Robin. Tim Drake. An omega. But Bruce doesn't make him change his biology. He accepts him as an omega.

Jason spends many a night crying and not understanding why Bruce couldn't accept him like that. What was so wrong with Jason? Was it that Jason was compassionate and emotional. While Tim does the perfect job of pushing down and ignoring every omega instinct in order to be the perfect good little soldier. Or did it take Jason dying for Bruce to realise his mistake and this time do better to love and just accept this new kid?

Jason hates them both. He starts planning his revenge.
