Work Text:
It’s a breezy day as the spring blossoms started to bloom and the suns heat intensified over them. Alan and Gaipa are at another one of their ‘business’ meet-ups that ‘accidentally’ end up spiralling off topic; they just used this as an excuse to get to know each other better.
They both hadn’t realised how much they had in common, the biggest thing that brought them together is that they had both just suffered from their own heartbreaks, Alan’s due to his recent breakup with Wen and Gaipa’s from when Jim rejected him but they both slowly healed from their past scars but sometimes it felt quicker when they were together.
“business has been slow lately, maybe it’s not chicken season for everyone” Gaipa explained which got a chuckle out of Alan.
“you can always lend money from me if things get difficult” Alan responded.
“I would probably forget to pay you back”
“I said lend, not borrow” Alan said with a small grin playing on his face, Gaipa returning one back.
“thank you, it’s getting late should we continue this some other time? Gaipa suggested with slight disappointment in his eyes as the hours went on, each one a countdown till they both head back home.
“oh, sure, some other time?” Alan said, more in a needy tone of reassurance to make sure they will have another one of these meet-ups.
“yeah!” Gaipa picked up his bag and left with a smile before heading back home, Alan copying him.
It was now reaching 6pm. The sun set low, just peaking above the horizon while the street lights brightened. Alan closed his front door before sitting on his snug sofa and opening his bag to find his charger. His hands rummaged through the unfamiliar textured before finally looking inside with wide eyes, this wasn’t his bag.
Whose bag is this? where did he grab it? why does it look exactly like his? But as the thoughts ran one after another in his mind that’s when he remembered, Gaipa.
He must have picked his bag up. As he lifted his phone from the sofa he noticed it no longer has any battery and his charger was in his bag, that he was assuming Gaipa had a hold of.
He contemplated just waiting for him to bump into Gaipa again or for him to reach out first to have an awkward exchange but he realised this could be an advantage to spending more time with Gaipa. Without another thought, he was already out the door m, carefully bringing Gaipa’s belongings along with him.
He had finally reached Gaipa’s house and walked up to the door but stopped himself from knocking straight away. Did he seem too desperate? is this weird? should he head back?
While the thoughts passed by he found his hand already knocking for him, not paying attention to his worries which only made his heart beat faster.
Gaipa opened the door, eyes half lidded and smooth, silky hair catching Alan’s attention before he quickly snapped back to Gaipa’s intimidating gaze.
“Hey- uh so i..i think you have my…” His words came out jumbled and a mess, but Gaipa managed to puzzle them together.
“this?” Gaipa held his bag up with one finger playfully.
“yes, thank you-“ He went to grab his bag off him but it got lightheartedly tugged back before Gaipa spoke again.
“do you have mine?” He asked with an eyebrow raised.
“oh yes, sorry” He chuckled awkwardly before taking his bag off and handing it to him, his own escaping the trap of Gaipa’s teaseful grip.
“This is a bit of a surprise, i tried calling you but i assumed you were busy and would just find me another day to trade back” Gaipa spoke with a contagious smile.
“Sorry, my phone died and i didn’t want you to lose something important” Alan explained.
“Ah okay, thank you”
“No problem”
There was an awkward silence for a moment but Gaipa quickly broke it with a question that was impossible to turn down.
“would you like to come in for a drink or i could make us a meal? it’s getting late and other shops might not be open” His eyes practically manipulating Alan’s gaze.
“sure, we can continue where we left off?” Alan teased with a smirk before stepping inside.
Alan is not sure how it progressed to this but the night ended with him sleeping over and laughing in the company of Gaipa, both stealing one too many unanswered glances but they didn’t question them, they just let the night guide them to whatever it had planned.
