POV Matthew Korecki
The church has gotten a new file, from the looks of it it seems to be more of a prank than anything. However with deeper knowledge of who the so-called possessed one is, it brings quite a strong concern.
In the file it was filled with any public information. He's catholic, goes to church like clock work, a lawyer, mainly pro bono, blind. Then it is filled with his lineage, father Jack Murdock, boxer deceased, and his mother, a nun in a church, next to it is a big bold word Private. Meaning that the second that they are done with the file, they are to all swear to secrecy. After came close associates, mainly Karen Page, and Franklin Nelson.
Then comes the reason behind the supposed exorcism, belief of physical pains and diabolic oppression. After comes the person who has called it, Kevin Fran. He says that he was a recent client at Nelson, Murdock, and Page when he first realized it. He proclaims that, “You should of see the scarring this guy has, not only that, but he has the saddest story I have ever heard”
Then finally are the papers on the location of his main work place and his home address.
What really makes this case so concerning is that one, his mother is a nun, two, the fact that he lives in a place named after hell, and three a couple years ago, there was to have been believed a celebration of a sigil being passed down. So as soon as possible, he planned to hand this off to the assessors.
POV Kevin Fran
Kevin was getting ready to leave. He wants to ask Franklin or Matthew if they would take his case. He doesn't have a lot of money, but he has only heard good things with how flexible they are with payments.
As he walked out the door of his apartment and down the stairs, he waved over a taxi, as he got in he said the name and they started driving.
He knows that he shouldn't be so worried about just a meeting, but these guys were good. He has also heard stories of the ones that they have turned down, they weren't afraid of nothing, no matter how many zeros were on the check. So he hoped that they were good people.
As they reached their destination, rights outside a deli shop, he took a second and went inside. With the ring of the bell, he was greeted.
“Welcome, how can I help you?” said Theo behind the counter.
“Oh, uh, I'm just here for the lawyers” He thought he sounded stupid
“No problem, just continue down straight and take your first left up the stairs” Replied the blond
“Thanks” he replied as he waved and followed the instructions.
As he walked up the stairs, he could smell the coffee and paper that any office would have. He got to the door and walked in being greeted with Karen behind the desk, looking stressed as she looked at some other papers.
“Welcome in, Matt or Foggy will be with you in a minute, just sit tight” ,said Karen, barely looking up from her work.
Not long after Kevin sat down was a client led out of the blind man's office. The man then smiled in his direction and said. “Please, come in Kevin”, and with that he went into his office and sat on a chair facing Matt’s desk.
“What can I do for you today?” said Matt with a grin.
Shifting in his seat nervously “Well, I was hoping that you could help with an accusation of vandalism?”
“Sure, I can, just tell me what happened”
“Well, I was hired to do a Muriel for this old couples restaurant, they wanted some old school Italian like style. I show them some references and ask if they want anything added and eventually they like the design. So then I started mapping it out with chalk, and then just as I was about to start painting. Until a cop rolled around and started to shout and stuff and before I knew it I was in his car. At the station they let me go after a bit, but the lady who called them still wants to hold charges”
Sitting straight, Matt had his sleeves rolled up due to the hot day that had started. Kevin looks down at them as Matt talks and notices how intense they are. They aren't some SH scars, more so like someone torn into him wanting to get to the center. And as he looks more he can see more and more scars. He has bruised knuckles, his hands are lightly scarred, and he can see a few thin scars around the chin of the man who's talking to him. From the looks of it as well, they seemed to be layered over the years.
“-and as I was saying, I think we can get this figured out quickly and may even get her to drop the charges, do you have any final questions?”
Shocked into attention again, he replied, “Oh, uno, but thanks, I also hopes thai gets solved quickly”
“If you have any questions, you know where to call”
Matt then gets up and kindly leads Kevin out, and just like that a new client wanks in behind him.
If he was being honest, he didn't hear half of what that guy said, what he was really worried about was this guy's health. He remembered one time looking on a paper about some local church you could call if you see something not easily explained. Originally he thought that it was for the domestically abused or those who were lost, either way he called and answered as many of the questions as he could.
POV Matt
As he escorted the man out of his office. He kindly asked the person who was waiting outside for him. He then listened as the guy left the building, kinda anxious and a little skittish. He noted how weird his client has been, the Kevin one. Often when looking for legal advice or a lawyer, most would listen to what you say, this guy just kept looking at him. At first he thought the guy found him attractive, after all they guys heartbeat did start picking up. He couldn't exactly tell the guy to stop, but he did end the meeting earlier than usual. He had felt the person waiting outside had an anxious heartbeat, he wondered if the guy was hiding another problem.
From the sound of it, the guy, he believed, called a domestic abuse line? It sounded like one. They asked questions like one, like who, when, where, why? Then it got into some more complex things like his pace of business, his close associates, and if he was acting erratically. He was really hoping that it wouldn't be. He really doesn't want to put Karen and Foggy in an uncomfortable position.
POV Kristen
It's the day after the demonic investment thing, honestly she thought it was a shame that their client died before figuring out the connection.
Today Kristen was called in just like any normal day when thereabout to be given a new file. As she walked in she quickly saw Ben and David.
“Morning, Kristen” Ben greeted.
“Hey Kristen” David welcomed
“Well morning to you both too, any ideas of the file yet?” Asked Kristan skeptically.
“Nope, how about you David?” Questioned Ben.
“No, but a I have heard that the church wanted to keep this one more silent and be careful about what we do”
Just as Kristan was going to jump in, the door came open. “Kristin, David, Ben, come in. Close the door behind you.”
As they all come in and close the door, David is the first to ask a question.
“So father, why the secrecy? What are we looking for?”
As he looked around the room at everyone in it, father Mathew slid the file to David.
“This individual, Mr. Murdock, has a long running file within the church. It's not a bad one, but it would be concerning if he is possibly possessed. As well as due to his position in the current state of affairs and his high standing in hell's kitchen”
“Wait, what is the current state of affairs?” Kristen asks cautiously.
“Well, it's nothing that I have knowledge of, but he has been with several people who were a part of a cult. One of the more intense ones as I hear” the father replied.
With this revelation of information, David then opens the file and looks through it, taking note of the location. He hands it to Kristine and Ben to look at.
“Well, ok, we accept this assessment and we'll keep you updated on what we find”, says David
And with that Kirsten, Ben, and David got into the car getting ready to go there.
“So, should we call them, ya know, keep things professional?” Ben asks.
“I mean, ya probably, it's just the question of who wants to call and what we should say it’s about” Kristen questioned.
“I’ll call, They might laugh on the phone about what I’ll say, but I could” Ben requests.
POV Karen
Last week Matt sat both Karen and Foggy down in a way to serious matters for the situation. Basically, after the work day, they basically took a friend's date where they all went to that one Thai place.
After ordering food and drinks, Mett gets this anxious look on his face, the one where you expect the plot to be that he accidentally kicked a dog or something. Instead he said, “You guys remember the client that kept looking at me funny.. Well, as it turns out, he might have thought that something was happening, where it wasn't and he might have called a domestic abuse line and reported me”. He said this to them as a way to basically warn them of the possible amount of lying they might have to be prepared to do.
TIME SKIP TO TODAY
Bright and early in the morning, like always, Foggy was in the office by the time Karen got in. The main benefit of working above a deli was the fact that they could have some of the pre-made coffee by the time that they got here. Just as Karen started setting down her things, the phone rang. ‘Already?’. She let the phone ring for a second before sitting down and answering.
“Hello, Nelson, Murdock, and Page, how may we help you?” Karen asks.
“Hello. This is Ben, we were assigned to assess Murdock? Is he there?”
“Oh. Um not yet but he will be in soon, what are you assessing him on?”, As she is talking she is waving Foggy over so that he knows this is THE call Matt was talking about.
“Ok, I know this might sound strange, but we're assessing him for a possible demonic possession? Is there any way that we can have a meeting with him?”
Karen is now looking at Foggy with a bewildered look as she replies, "I'm sorry, you said a demonic possession?”, she asks just to make sure Foggy hears it.
“Ya, I know what it sounds like, but it's honestly no more than basically doing a mental health checkup"
“Ya know what. Sure. Any day in particular?”
“We were hoping for it as soon as possible, if you could?”
“For Matt, he is empty any time today, but he will be working on cases”
“Ok, thanks, we’ll be there in an hour, bye”
And with the the line went dead
