Work Text:
When she was young, Farah wanted to be a cop. That dream evolved over time to encompass any form of law enforcement that would take her. Which none did. The overarching motivation stayed the same, however; she wanted to help people. To keep them safe, to protect them. Just like her dad did. She could imagine no more rewarding occupation.
Now, she was starting to think she had been wrong.
As she looked around the room, at Dirk and Todd similarly tied to chairs as she was, unable to move or do anything about the quickly counting-down magical doomsday clock their latest case had brought them to that they needed to stop before the entire world ended. All three of them seemingly helpless in the face of global mystical destruction. Looking around at the chaos and shouting and uncertainty over whether anyone would make it out of this one alive, Farah knew, for certain, that this was where she truly belonged.
Farah noticed that their captors’ attention was turned away from her. She smiled in self-satisfaction as she drew the hidden knife from one shirt sleeve and worked to cut herself free. Then she got ready to save the world.
