Work Text:
Javi was spending a day in the park attempting to come up with a new song, melodies flowing easily but the lyrics stuck somewhere between his head and his heart. He removed lifted the strap of the keytar from where it draped over his shoulders and set the instrument beside him fingers loosely wrapped around the neck as he flopped onto his back.
Javi closed his eyes as the hustle and bustle of the park flowed over him. His eyes snapped open a short time later his fingers tightening around his keytar but it was too late, the tugging that had gotten his attention stopped as triumphant honking filled the air. Javi pushed himself upright eyes widening as he found himself staring at a truly massive cream coloured goose. A goose who had just stolen his keytar.
Javi calmly stood up taking extra care not to make any sudden movements in the process. Not that it did him much good as the moment he was steady on his feet the goose gave one long taunting honk and took off with Javi in pursuit. If Javi had not been so focused on the keytar he might have noticed that the goose seemed to be moving at a deliberate pace, one just quick enough to stay out of Javi’s reach but slow enough that Javi could keep pace. Or that the goose seemed to have a destination in mind, taking specific streets and turns. It was almost like the goose was very deliberately herding Javi with the keytar as bait, something the goose was very much enjoying if it’s mischievous honks and wing flaps were any indication.
The destination became apparent as Javi turned a corner and barreled straight into Amelia knocking them both to the ground in the process. He gave a sheepish smile, face red with embarrassment as he stood and offered Amelia a hand up. After making sure she was ok Javi ran a hand through his hair only to abruptly freeze at the cheerful honk ringing through the air.
Amelia turned at the same time to see the goose standing just out of reach keytar still firmly balanced in its beak. Javi stepped forward only for the goose to step back with a glare, aggressive honking and wings flapping pointedly. Amelia placed a hand on Javi’s shoulder and approached the goose with care shooing Javi back when he moved with her much to the goose’s disapproval.
Crouching down Amelia held out her hands and waited breathing a sigh of relief when the goose gently placed the keytar in her hands with a happy little honk. Yet the minute Javi tried to retrieve the instrument from her he was driven back by a goose determined to be a nuisance. No matter how much they tried the goose would not let Javi so much as lay a finger on his beloved instrument and he was going to have the bruises to prove it. Amelia was luckier but not completely unscathed; she had found out the hard way that she couldn’t leave without the goose taking offense to that too.
For whatever reason the goose wanted the two of them to stick together. Neither noticed the goose’s smug shake of its tail feathers when Amelia asked Javi to join her for lunch at a nearby café though it did happily waddle behind them before settling at their feet.
Hours slipped away in laughter and flowing easy conversation as they sipped hot chocolate continuing even as they wandered after the café had closed, hands and shoulders almost brushing. Through it all the goose kept a watchful eye over the two of them, contentedly shooing away anyone from bursting the bubble they crafted for themselves.
When Javi tentatively reached out fingers slotting around Amelia’s a soft joyous honk punctuated the air when she didn’t pull away. Later when the air seemed to crackle in anticipation Amelia would take advantage of their joined hands to pull Javi in for a soft tender kiss, Javi pulling Amelia close as they melted into each other. Too lost in each other neither Javi nor Amelia noticed the poof of glitter that swirled around them or the happy triumphant honking of the goose as it waddled away proudly.
