Work Text:
The occasional sounds of pages turning with no visible accompaniment was considered the least suspicious thing in the disciplinary committee's meeting room according to Miyano as he hid his BL manga behind a much larger textbook.
He was one of the few people left in the room aside from his upperclassman, Hirano, and the much taller boy who he was chatting it up with.
Miyano had seen this boy come and pick Hirano up before, so this boy was obviously his roommate, but Hirano had rushed off pretty quickly all those other times.
He supposed His senpai hadn't felt the need to rush off today because he thought Miyano was too absorbed in his reading to notice the way he smiled at this boy exactly like the uke smiled at his seme in Miyano's latest favourite BL! They had the same dimple and everything!
Miyano had to hold in a fanboy-fueled squeal as this tall, seme-ish guy grabbed his upperclassman's hands and pulled him out of his seat while Hirano laughed fondly.
Fondly!!!!
Miyano couldn't just let Hirano leave after such blatant uke behaviour! He had to say something before he got away and refused Miyano any more info!
“Hirano-senpai!” He said at a volume that could be considered a little suspicious.
Hirano sighed. Miyano could've sworn he heard him whisper something exasperated under his breath. “Yes, Miyano?”
“Is this your roommate?”
Miyano could practically see the gears turning in Hirano's mind as he replied “Nnno…” and started pushing the boy out the door.
When roommate boy shot him a lost puppy look, Miyano knew he had secured the win.
“Hirano-san, what are you doing?”
“I'll explain later, Kagi-kun, just ignore him.”
“Later? So he is your roommate?” Miyano smiled mischievously from ear to ear.
‘Kagi-kun’ had a confused smile on his face. “Yeah, that's me! I'm Kagiura Akira.” He and Miyano shook hands as he continued. “Um.. you're Miyano, right? Hirano-san has mentioned you before I think.”
“Yeah, how exhausting you can be.” Hirano shot back. He was clearly annoyed but Miyano wasn't going to let that stop him from getting to the bottom of this.
“Exhausting? How so?” Miyano asked, his most innocent smile directed towards his upperclassman.
Hirano directed a suspicious look at the shorter boy. “If we stick around any longer then I'm sure Kagi-kun won't need an explanation.” He replied as he continued to try to get Kagiura out the door. This time dragging his arm like you'd drag a dog's leash, the younger's eyes locked onto him devotedly. This was absolutely a catlike uke and puppydog seme situation.
“Wait! Kagiura! Can I give you a book recommendation?” At that, Hirano tried to pull him even harder.
Normally, Miyano wouldn't have taken such a big risk. Showing someone he'd just met a BL manga was a big leap of faith that he'd never take if he wasn't so sure of his fudanshi senses.
“Uh, sure! But.. well my arm is a little occupied so I won't be able to write it down.” He laughed awkwardly.
“We're leaving, Kagi-kun.” Hirano pleaded, not yet giving up on dragging him away from the fudanshi.
“Oh that's okay! I have it with me, so you can borrow it!”
“Is manga even allowed in the dorms, Kagi-kun? I don't think it is! I think it’s best Miyano holds onto-”
“No need to worry about that, Hirano-senpai,” Miyano was surprised Hirano had underestimated his research skills. “I've read the dorm rules just in case this happened. Manga is allowed as long as it isn't pornographic. This book is fine.” Technically he wasn't lying. Heavy make-out scenes didn't count as smut.
Hirano groaned as Kagiura looked between the two confusedly, probably wondering why the possibility of porn was a concern, before being handed a plastic book bag and told to guard the contents with his life.
Kagiura nodded and Miyano waved the two of them goodbye as Hirano finally managed to stop his two underclassmen from talking.
“It was nice meeting you!” Miyano called out as the two left the room and started walking back to the dorms.

Just a few minutes later, Sasaki arrived at the committee room to walk Miyano home.
“Myaa-chan, your smile is brighter than usual, did something good happen?”
Miyano's face went a little red at the observation. “Not much, I just met Hirano-senpai's roommate! I let him borrow some manga, the one with the blonde flight attendant and the physical therapist.”
Sasaki's eyes went wide just as his phone buzzed in his pocket. “Oh! Um, well that's good!” He said, taking his phone out to read the message he'd just received from Hirano.
“Pick up your fudanshi quicker next time before he starts giving Kagi-kun ideas.”
Sasaki stifles a laugh and listens to Miyano talk until they reach the train station.

Once Hirano and Kagiura return to their dorm, Hirano immediately reaches for the bag Miyano had given Kagiura, before his underclassman snatches it away from his grasp. “Kagi-kun, please, you can't read that!”
Kagiura uses his height against Hirano and holds it out of his reach.
“Why not? Are you jealous that your underclassman gave me a recommendation and not you?” Kagiura teased.
“I wouldn't trust a book recommendation from Miyano even if it was the last book on earth!” Hirano exaggerated.
Kagiura rolled his eyes and pouted. “You're being dramatic!” He groaned. “Come on, It can't be as bad as you think! What if you read it with me?”
Hirano made a face like he got punched and ate a lemon at the same time.
Kagiura sighed. “Why don't you want me to read it anyway, Hirano-san?”
“Because you'll want to recreate the scenes in it!”
Kagiura's expression became shocked and he blushed red.
“I-I wouldn't want to do anything you weren't comfortable with, Y'know? O-or anything against the dorm rules.”
“Oi. Where is your mind wandering to?”
“Uhm! Anyway, I’m reading this and you can't stop me.”
Hirano groaned, deciding to just drop the subject. “Jeez. Fine. But wait until after dinnertime. You'll get interrupted if you start now and we still have to study first.”
Kagiura nodded and put the book on his desk. Hirano set up the study table while secretly hoping for his roommate to forget about it over dinner.
–☆–
Kagiura did not forget about the manga over dinner. And so Hirano had to try to focus on anything but Kagiura's various expressions as he flipped from page to page.
His face shifted from engrossed to shocked to a bright shade of red as he reached the midway point and folded a corner of the page he was on.
“I'm gonna go have a quick shower before lights out.” He grabbed his towel and pajamas and left the room.
Hirano tried to ignore the nagging feeling in his gut. ‘Miyano is gonna lose it if he gets his manga back and a page is folded!’ ‘It's his fault for lending his prized possession to a guy who barely reads manga!’
Ultimately, he grabbed a bookmark from his desk and picked up the manga, turning to the folded page.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw the page. One of the characters looked remarkably similar to him, right down to the earrings. He hadn't seen him before because the front cover only had a generic brown haired protagonist looking character on it.
In the scene Kagiura had paused on, the character from the cover was kneeling down at the Hirano-like character's feet.
‘The uke, if Miyano's taste is anything to go by’ His brain supplies.
The.. seme(?)’s hands were on the back of his knee, presumably massaging it. The uke was blushing profusely as he looked down at the taller character.
And Hirano was blushing just as much.
“Miyano, what the hell have you gotten me into?” He muttered to himself, quickly unfolding the page and stuffing the bookmark in before closing the book and trying to forget about how badly he wanted to whack his underclassman on the head with a textbook.
“I'm back!” Kagiura announced, drying his damp hair with a towel. “Why are you all red?”
Hirano was too distracted by his racing heartbeat to think of a good lie or to pull himself away from Kagi's side of the room, where his hand was barely off the book he'd just set down. Instead he just stared at Kagiura until he said something else.
“I thought you didn't want to read anything from Miyano, Hirano-san.”
“I-I don't!!” He yelped. In all honesty, he was a little curious after reading that page.
“Then why are you going to pick it up?”
Hirano had another choice to make: either make Kagi-kun all pouty and stew in his own curiosity for hours, or swallow his pride and read the stupid manga.
Before he could pick either option, Kagiura rolled up his towel and walked up to him, tossing it over Hirano's shoulders and pulling him closer, smirking.
Hirano's brain crash landed in the middle of the ocean at that point. His heart was beating faster than Kagiura could dribble a basketball.
Kagiura's expression changed to a giggle as he pulled away. “Hehe, sorry! That was something I saw in the manga.” He joked as he went to hang his towel up properly, leaving Hirano significantly redder than he was when Kagi found him.
“D-Don't fold pages anymore. Use a bookmark.” Hirano said weakly before laying on his bed and pulling out his phone to both calm his racing heart and shoot Sasaki another text.
“I am going to whack you upside the head with that manga before I return it.”
“WHAT DID ROOMMATE-KUN DO FOR ME TO DESERVE THIS?????”
